  • everything Magpul makes is great

  • hey what kind of barrel is that?

  • It'll take nothing less than a slow run with a humvee, a prolonged squash with a humvee, and four high speed wheel rollovers with a humvee to break a Pmag, apparently. That thing is beast.

  • @ablahblah54 That needs to be tested now haha.

  • Comment removed

  • i used mine as a vice block to build a lower. worked great, and cheaper than the actual vice block. ill never buy a metal mag ever again

  • is the person recording a girl or just gay. hard 2 tell.

  • I wanna see the broad behind the camera

  • I've tried this with the magpul pmag(airsoft version). Magpul doesn't get cheesy with any of their products. I'm glad they put equal amount of effort with the real steel and the airgun. I own the EMag version for my Stag left handed AR-15(real steel)

  • Steel reinforcement would make no sense. The reason the p mag can be runover is that it flexes. If there steel reinforced it would bend.

  • I have 50 magazines from IRaq.....they work fine.....FREE with uniform kiddos

  • What a convincing vid!

Fast,no breaks in filming or anything sneaky at all.

  • Ok, I found an interesting video regarding the pmag durability issue.

    watch?v=rdesKUSUchA

Now, I will concede that the pmag did do better than the USGI and HK mags.

However, not by a wide margin. They still broke when run over by a humvee at speed, and they were still choked up by sand inside the magazine body. So even though they're pretty tough, they're not as indestructible as people seem to think.

  • @Otacon237 they may not be Indestructible but theyre more Indestructible than the others :)

  • LOL true. They seem to be the best AR mags currently available.

I'd still like to see someone make a steel-reinforced one though.

  • I just got a few Pmags... not going to run them over, but good to know.

  • "but I'm not sure how they'll hold up when the magazine well heats up after 200-300 rounds."

i dunno tell that to Mr. Costa and Haley who put thousands of rounds through them and nothing happens. no brand myopia just sayin :)

  • why did you run it over with live rounds in it??????????????

  • Why not? Car tires exert roughly 30 psi, so unless my cars tires were studded and I ran over cartridges with the primers in a vertical position I think I'll be a-okay. Of course YMMV, leave this one to the professionals.

  • @hioncheesenips ya hes right technically in a stress test you take the most common route which would be a magazine with live rounds being run over and being reused

  • I agree that Pmags are great, but I wouldn't advise running over one with live rounds inside.

  • Why?

  • Just wanted to add my 2 cents to the whole mag shortage discussion. You can usually find pmags for 20-25 bucks at gun shows. Also, some people are selling red unpainted pmags because magpul just wanted to get them out on the market. Honestly I think PMAGs are a bit overhyped. Sure they work great but a good USGI mag with last you just as long, and you won't lose the drop-free ability if you get some nicks on it. You can usually find used USGIs for 10 bucks, just make sure to pick the best ones.

  • Bullshit. A USGI mag will bend if you so much as look at it wrong. Doing live fire drills where you're dropping mags and possibly stepping on them, you'll find out quick that they're far inferior to these Pmags.

If all you do is take it to the range in a case, fire a few rounds at some paper from a bench-rest, and put it back in a case, then the USGI mag(s) MAY last just as long.... Just don't leave it in your back pocket when you sit down.

  • Well, in my case the USGI's function much more reliably. Also, if you get a nick on the surface of the pmag that goes inside the magazine well, it won't drop free again until you sand it down. And no I don't step on my mags though I do drop them on concrete sometimes. They pretty much both suck compared to HK high reliability mags, the only thing stopping me from stocking up on those is the price.

  • HK mags are overpriced, heavy and damage more easily than USGI mags.

  • Dunno, I've had no problems with it. Besides if you look on the AR15 forums there's a lot of people with pmags not holding together after lots of rounds. That's what happens when you use a completely plastic magazine. They should put steel inserts like the Glock and Bulgarian AK mags.

I don't know why people are so pissed at me when I dare to question pmags, brand myopia much? Geez you'd think I insulted their mother or something.

  • Hey what AR15 forums are you seeing these reports? I would like to check them out?

  • AR15dotcom, or "Arfcom", probably the biggest AR15 forum. I'll PM you a link if I can dig it up.

  • I also found some reports on M4Carbinedotnet and AR15Armorydotcom, issues like cracks, not seating properly, not fitting well in billet lowers, not holding the bolt open etc... Still looking for that Arfcom thread, I actually posted on it but it's hard to find that stuff. Standby for links...

  • @Otacon237 People get upset at the fact that you make claims based on "what you've heard" when there are many videos displaying that these Pmags go through thousands of rounds, continuously, without damage or warping. Thats all.

  • I did provide links with pictures to RemMan700, and he too agreed that was clearly a damaged mag. I don't know why people worship Magpul so much, they're almost as bad as the HK crowd.

I'm merely bringing up a valid point, a polymer mag without metal reinforcement is not battle-worthy. Glock mags have a steel liner, and the Russian and Bulgarian AK mags have steel feed lips, floor plates, locking lugs, and a reinforced steel cage.

  • @Otacon237 You might be right.

  • Furthermore, running over a loaded mag is not a valid test of its tensile strength since the ammo pretty much absorbs all the pressure and keeps the mag walls rigid. I think people are just too proud to receive any criticism of a product they purchased.

For the record, I now have 12 Pmags. Yes, they are among the best mags for the AR platform, but that is not saying much.

  • Have you ever used a Pmag?......they arent "overhyped"...they are Everything and More than they claim to be....they are the best AR style mag

  • I have 7 of them in different colorations. Did you not see my videos? I wouldn't be talking about them if I didn't use them.

The best AR-style mag are the H&K High Reliability mags. PMAG's are adequate but I'm not sure how they'll hold up when the magazine well heats up after 200-300 rounds. Also there won't be much left of them if you have to keep sanding down nicks to insure drop-free capability, as I mentioned earlier.

  • no i didn't bother looking at your videos before i commented (my vids dont show anything good lol)....i just like the Pmag...alot and ive seen that they can stand up to the test.

  • They are very solidly built, I will admit that, however I don't really like the polymer body. Maybe I'm too old-fashioned.

  • In my experience PMAGs tend to lose their BHO capability on some rifles, while USGI-type mags don't have this problem. Of course the aluminum ones are a bit fragile.

  • What brand of AR are you shooting? Also, what sight have you got it?

  • I built it... cmmg upper, jp trigger, magpul kit, arms 40L, aimpoint m2 on a larue

  • From what I have seen the L5 is just as durable as the Pmag. Plus it has the 100% clear body so you can always see how many rounds left. I typically have some p mags full of duty ammo and all my range ammo in usgi mags. Seems like most all mags do the job just fine, it all comes down to preference.

  • lol @ price gouging asshole. Brownells gets daily shipments from Magpul and the backorder list is under 2 weeks long. Anyone who would pay you double the retail price is batshit insane.

  • I totally agree. 'F' that crap. Bad enough the gun show wants to charge $25 each but $40??? I wouldn't buy from you if you sold them at half price with that attitude.

  • i dont have a credit card, if that guy is takening less than $17 per mag might be scam, all these people buying up guns and mags has sprung alot of crooks.

  • watch out i got scamed $275 trying to buy some online. there are none even if someone says they have them its a scam!!

  • why didnt you use a credit card?? you can dispute the charges. I reply because I found a guy with 200 or more of them for sale. I plan on using a credit card to cover my azz. what do you think??

  • Ok so you ran that bitch over, and it was loaded, and nothing bad happened? OK sign me up for like 20

  • good luck finding 20, magpul's on back-order big time. I wish I could find more. I heard you can find 20 rounders okay. I could use some of those for bench work.

  • @GoFasterPlease lol they're plentiful here in colorado....i could go down to jensen arms right now and get you a hundred if you would like

  • dang nice gun, what is the silver barrel?

  • CMMG 16" Medcon profile w/ Mid-Length Gas System

  • Yes the magpul is tough and can be run over by a car. however, they hang up in the magwell's of all four of my AR 15 platform rifles. To include Armalite, DPMS, Standard Arms, S&W M&P. I use my AR's to road hunt for coyotes and ride with the rifles across my lap, mag in the well. When I need to remove a mag in a hurry I want it to drop free and don't want the hassle of having to literally rip the mag out of the rifle. The two new 30 round magpulls I bought are the tightest yet. I'll go aluminum.

  • really? I heard about some problems with the initial batch of PMAG's but this is the first I've heard of problems beyond those. My 4 mags as well as the other 20 magazines my friends and I bought in that batch were all 100% 'drop free'. sorry to hear about that.

  • Just watched the video again and it appears that when you hit the magazine ejection button that you are in fact pulling the magazine out of the weapon, the magazine is not spat out like a traditional aluminum style mag. Don't get the wrong idea here I know the magpul is of great quality I just don't like the way they eject. As well when a Magpul is full it is hard to insert it on a closed bolt. I am keeping my Magpuls for specialty ammo and long term storage while loaded with those rounds.

  • That's how the video appears, but when I'm standing on concrete I grasp the mag, then press the mag release... I don't like to drop loaded mags on concrete...

    it drops free just fine

  • does it drop free when empty? can you insert it fully on a closed bolt? my aluminum mags will go right into place on a closed bolt, the magpul mags won't and forcing them to do so causes the bolt to bind up. Not with handloads, factory military ball and Hornady TAP.

  • yep. yep, unless the mag has 30 rounds loaded. But I don't know many mags that will insert with 30 on a full bolt.

  • Running over an EMPTY mag is one thing, running over a LOADED mag is VERY dumb!

  • and why would that be?

  • I would think it would be because a risk unecessarily taken isn't a good thing. Odd stuff happens on ocassion and I suppose it's possible you could develop some pressure in a cartridge should you set the primer off. It's the six sigmas that'll do ya.

  • Love it. Great video, bro!

  • thats cool but in all fairness even a USGI could probably survive a camry !

  • IS that a LaRue Stealth upper! *drools*

  • me too i got 7 on the way

  • Damnit you bastard everyone is sold out now because of people bulk buying, fucking Obama!!!

  • Awesome!
