This great stuff! Thank you for posting it. Is there anyway I could download some of these for Halloween, this reminds me of the best days of my childhood. Is it just me or does halloween feel like its lost some of he magic it had when we were kids???
This grand old LP record was part of a series of 4 albums on the Troll Records label. The albums are as follows:
50-001: Scary Spooky Stories
50-002: Great Ghost Stories
50-003: Thrillers And Chillers
50-004: Weird Tales Of The Unknown
I have acquired the entire series after a year-long search on eBay. The rarest of them being the last two in the set (003 & 004) were the hardest to find. I have mine framed & hanging on my wall. :)
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I had this on Vinyl when I was a kid, lost it...and then got it on cd from ebay. So glad you've got some of these posted! Great stuff!!!
iPod won't let me comment on your comment so I'll just do it like this. The main cause of fear is the unknown. Somebody doesn't know something they fear it. You don't know if there's a killer in your room at night, you fear it. Same thing as death; people fear death because they don't know what happens when you die. I do not fear death because I am Christian and, as the Bible states, you will go to heaven if you accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior.
you know, film makers should look back in those years. because, today, they think that bloody looking people are scary.. which is not true. I think, what is the scariest thing ever, is being attacked by the unknown. you know, that feeling of the unkown ''where am I now?'' or ''what is that noise''. don't you agree? I think movies today should use that from back then. here, you don,t know what scared him. all you know, is that he died of fright, that, is what makes this story scary in my opinion
My brother, sister and I would put on this record just as the sun was going down, turn off all the lights in the house and listen to it over and over...I'm sure we drove our parents crazy!! I'm 39 now and all my children love this record! I ordered it from Ebay years ago and still get it out every once in a while for the kids (and myself) Thanks for sharing it!!
hey i've read this exact same story some where but the beginning was kinda different so were the characters n in the end it was pin thru his jeans not coat
@BennetSurf Usually it's a girl who takes the dare, slumber party dare or something, and she gets the knife caught in her nightgown. Of course there are other versions that have a cursed statue in the cemetery, Black Aggie most commonly.
I was in third grade when I heard this, then years later, my third grade teacher gave e the record. It is very special to me. Its nice to hear these stories again. TY
These were just great...I would love to have em on cd, but really, if you think about it cd just wouldnt do it justice...you dont get that neat static, hiss and crackle like the old LPs...but, wow what a great story!!! Love this!!!
the narrator really sells it. haven't heard this for at least 30 yrs. thanks for the memories and chills...i always favored this record over the popular hichtcock recorded stories as a kid.
I was born in 1968 and we had this record. My brother, sister and i used to listen to it every halloween. Thank you so much for posting these my kids are gonna love them
Boy, you don't know how many memories that brought back. I had both records Spooky Scary Stories and Great Ghost Stories. This one was the best one for Spooky Scary Stories. And the Golden Arm was the best for Great Ghost Stories. I was only 3 when they came out but did not hear it until i was 5.
I have both of these too....tbey used to scare the ----out of me....my older brother was so mean I was walking up the path to my grandmothers house on the dark dark path and he yelled out, WHERE IS MY GOLDEN ARM.......
These albums were the best. I'm going to sound like an old fart right now...but they just don't make stuff like this anymore. If they did, it would probably be so over produced and not have half the charm that these simple recordings have. I guess stuff like this just isn't important anymore. It's a blessing finding it here though. Thanks so much for sharing with a fellow lover of funner ,simpler times.

Wow... that's pretty morbid for a kids' ghost story. Awesome.

For some reason, I imagined the narrator looking like a 1930's cartoon gangster, twittling a cigar between two fingers.
