  • This great stuff! Thank you for posting it. Is there anyway I could download some of these for Halloween, this reminds me of the best days of my childhood. Is it just me or does halloween feel like its lost some of he magic it had when we were kids???

  • not scary...but a really good story i have to admit

  • There's another story called 'The Dare' on 13horror.com which SCARED THE HELL out of me!!!!

  • This grand old LP record was part of a series of 4 albums on the Troll Records label. The albums are as follows:

    50-001: Scary Spooky Stories

    50-002: Great Ghost Stories

    50-003: Thrillers And Chillers

50-004: Weird Tales Of The Unknown

I have acquired the entire series after a year-long search on eBay. The rarest of them being the last two in the set (003 & 004) were the hardest to find. I have mine framed & hanging on my wall. :)

  • Wow I'm listening to this and loads of other scary stuff on Halloween 2011

  • Where can i find the truth short story

  • Comment removed

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I had this on Vinyl when I was a kid, lost it...and then got it on cd from ebay. So glad you've got some of these posted! Great stuff!!!

  • MORAL: BRING UR FLASHLIGHT NEXT TIME!

  • @inlaquinta No kidding, why is it nobody ever does that? I mean it's DARK! How're you going to see in the dark?

  • Another "Scared to death" story...

  • @SingerTonya Another? How many are there?

  • @TheBookWorm1718 Too many to count.

  • I enjoy it ha ha ha ha that's not even scary but its still a good story guys

  • its 12 48 O.o

  • what happened to him?

  • Just as you have said oly, my

iPod won't let me comment on your comment so I'll just do it like this. The main cause of fear is the unknown. Somebody doesn't know something they fear it. You don't know if there's a killer in your room at night, you fear it. Same thing as death; people fear death because they don't know what happens when you die. I do not fear death because I am Christian and, as the Bible states, you will go to heaven if you accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior.

  • you know, film makers should look back in those years. because, today, they think that bloody looking people are scary.. which is not true. I think, what is the scariest thing ever, is being attacked by the unknown. you know, that feeling of the unkown ''where am I now?'' or ''what is that noise''. don't you agree? I think movies today should use that from back then. here, you don,t know what scared him. all you know, is that he died of fright, that, is what makes this story scary in my opinion

  • Ooohhh, I like this! Who's the narrator for this? He sounds so familiar.

  • My brother, sister and I would put on this record just as the sun was going down, turn off all the lights in the house and listen to it over and over...I'm sure we drove our parents crazy!! I'm 39 now and all my children love this record! I ordered it from Ebay years ago and still get it out every once in a while for the kids (and myself) Thanks for sharing it!!

  • hey i've read this exact same story some where but the beginning was kinda different so were the characters n in the end it was pin thru his jeans not coat

  • which came first? this story or the twilight zone episode 'the grave' with lee marvin, lee van cleef, strother martin and james best?

  • @johnrunion Not sure...but this is an old story that predates them both.

  • @BennetSurf thanks for the info. i greatly appreciate it.

  • @BennetSurf Usually it's a girl who takes the dare, slumber party dare or something, and she gets the knife caught in her nightgown. Of course there are other versions that have a cursed statue in the cemetery, Black Aggie most commonly.

  • @johnrunion The story, I think. I like both. Good call, I remember seeing the TZ and seeing that episode.

  • @MrTrekfan thanks for the reply. i really love this story + the tz episode was really, really scary, creepy and atmospheric.

  • Wow... that's pretty morbid for a kids' ghost story. Awesome.

  • For some reason, I imagined the narrator looking like a 1930's cartoon gangster, twittling a cigar between two fingers.

  • I was in third grade when I heard this, then years later, my third grade teacher gave e the record. It is very special to me. Its nice to hear these stories again. TY

  • Very nostalgic! I have this on CD now. This story is one of the creepiest ghost stories ever told.

  • oh my god it was 1200 on the dot wen i started watching it lol

  • cool its old and scary

  • These were just great...I would love to have em on cd, but really, if you think about it cd just wouldnt do it justice...you dont get that neat static, hiss and crackle like the old LPs...but, wow what a great story!!! Love this!!!

  • @theGDbatman8686 there are ways to put this on a cd with the crackles etc...

  • the narrator really sells it. haven't heard this for at least 30 yrs. thanks for the memories and chills...i always favored this record over the popular hichtcock recorded stories as a kid.

  • . . . I love this, lol. Brings back so many memories and I remember this story so well. ;-)

I wonder if I Google this album, would I be able to purchase it on E-Bay?

  • I was born in 1968 and we had this record. My brother, sister and i used to listen to it every halloween. Thank you so much for posting these my kids are gonna love them

  • Hey dude im tryin to do a card trick using this story. Do i have ur permission to like use it please reply.

  • This is a great story!

  • Boy, you don't know how many memories that brought back. I had both records Spooky Scary Stories and Great Ghost Stories. This one was the best one for Spooky Scary Stories. And the Golden Arm was the best for Great Ghost Stories. I was only 3 when they came out but did not hear it until i was 5.

  • I have both of these too....tbey used to scare the ----out of me....my older brother was so mean I was walking up the path to my grandmothers house on the dark dark path and he yelled out, WHERE IS MY GOLDEN ARM.......

  • These albums were the best. I'm going to sound like an old fart right now...but they just don't make stuff like this anymore. If they did, it would probably be so over produced and not have half the charm that these simple recordings have. I guess stuff like this just isn't important anymore. It's a blessing finding it here though. Thanks so much for sharing with a fellow lover of funner ,simpler times.

  • your right i didnt grow up in your times but it seems like the older stuff has more of the orignal spirit

  • @dripdrop111111111111 It's great to see your appreciation of it. It takes all generations to keep stuff like this around.

  • bollocks!
