I wanted to ask you something, in the song "crazy train" the solo is starting with tapping and then he quickly change and starts to use the pick, how does he do that?
hello im not john but i can still answer. he holds the pick normally with his index finger and thumb and he tap using the middle finger. 2nd option is to tap with a pick holding it sideways
Am i the only one that cant even get the tap right?

A lot of people actually tap with the edge of the pick. That way you can quickly go into your normal flat picking.

When you tap with your left hand is it it important in which you way you tap like up or down if that makes any sense at all.

some guys pull their tapping fingers down like a normal pull off and some people like van halen pull off toward them. whatever is comfortable.
