I wouldn't say it's an all out fight. Gin wasn't trying to kill anyone, same with his fight later on with Ichigo. He was just playing the part. Ok, he killed Hiyori, but that was to preserve Aizen's trust.
Am I the only girl who doesn't really find Hitsugaya's powers all that intriguing? Or even his character? His Bankai/Shikai are messy (although I suppose it could be used to demonstrate destructive power). Oddly, although his is better I prefer Rukia's Sode no Shirayuki. And he's far too serious, short tempered and really noisy during battle. In contrast, I enjoy Gin's occasional look of surprise and grin...almost like it's game and he's enjoying himself. It's refreshing and fun to watch.
But, as far as Gin being on a completely different level, that's just flat out not true. it's a FACT that Hitsugaya is actually stronger. Look at the Data Book that Kubo himself put out. it's kinda not up for discussion. lol though not much stronger.

It's interesting to me how many people are saying how superior Gin is. Now I am NOT a hitsugaya super fan or anything, but Gin doesn't stop smiling unless he's serious, and in Hitsugaya's second assult, when Gin's sleeve was torn, his smile was wiped straight off. I think he truly did underestimate Hitsugaya and was legitimately surprised by the strength of his attack. If they truly fought, Gin would probably win because of his cunning and experience.

As for Gin vs Toshiro, watch the footage. Twice Toshiro gets distracted by a rudimentary distraction, leaving Gin as the undisputed swordsman of the two. As for the ending, putting both Toshiro and Momo in a perfect line while appearing to be at a disadvantage? People can gripe over bankai and whatnot, but Gin is by far the superior.
Do people understand how strong Gin is? If Gin was serious, he could have either killed Hitsugaya, or at least hurt him badly enough were he would be in bed for a while. Even if Hitsugaya used his bankai, Gin would destroyed him easily, without using his own bankai. I like Hitsugaya, but Gin is just way too strong for him.

They ARE Azure, it's because Kubo hadn't decided yet what color to use for his eyes, that the Production thought that Gin with red eyes would be badass. Then Kubo said they should've been azure.

Well I think the writer didn't intend Gin to be a good guy at all making him do all those bad things, but he for some reason suddenly decided to make him a good guy, yes, according to chapter 415.. and there goes the irony of his behavior.
It's a stretch, but I think Gin may be alluding to something in 3:21. I think Aizen may be coercing Gin to work with him with the threat of death or by threatening Matsumoto's life.

Gin doesn't tell Matsumoto why he's following Aizen, and then he incapacitates her, probably to prevent her from getting herself killed by Aizen. @rollak3 - I don't think he's a good guy at all, but rather he's got his own agenda, which was to avenge Rangiku & kill Aizen. I don't think he cares at all about what happens to anyone else. When he sees Ichigo come back to confront Aizen, and comments about the power in Ichigo's eyes & that Ichigo may be able to defeat Aizen, it's not out of being one of the good guys, but more that his goal of having Aizen defeated will finally be achieved. (Just my take on things)

@rollak3 - Two theories on this, though they kind of go together. As much as Aizen thinks he knows, I'm betting that he doesn't truly understand the Hougyuko as well as he thinks, and it might be the key to his demise. Urahara might drop the knowledge bomb in the end with that sly glance & smirk of his. The other part of the theory is that one may have to allow it to activate in some manner and Gin never chose to accept it's power, so it was never received. Like he's fighting its corruption.
I keep having this feeling about Gin. That he is not the bad-ass as he portrays himself to be. I think there is a hidden agenda with him allying with Aizen. One of the hints is that he let Ichigo go when he tried to save Rukia when she was about to be executed and there more conclusive hints throughout the show. Aizen doesn't trust Gin either... Something is not right... I wonder what it is? ^__^

read manga 400 theirs more to his banki than reach. it extends almost an an instant faster than ichigo could see even constantly watching it,that makes pretty strong banki, a sword that can go 13km in the blink of an eye and less than a foot all before you can even really see what just happened? put that together with gins own speed and power and that can be one hell of a deadly banki epically if you seen how fast he can attack normally. scary all with his eyes closed lol, opened eyes=game-time
@TDoanLe nice thanks for the math lesson(im not being sarcastic lol) that info on top of what we know of gins power and speed alone(aside from the swords) the sheer force of it from extending and retracting at such a speed is frightening though the rate he that he can repeatably extend after retraction and vice versa is unknown.

Gin is supposed to have a short sword but in this fight its a standard katana. This is before he released it to distract Toshiro. So why is it standard size while sealed when its supposed to be similar in size to the short sword in the pair that Shunsui has.
Well Gin's bankai has been revealed and I must say, so far worst....bankai.....ever. Last week when Gin finally said bankai that was on of the most exciting and anticipated moments in all of my comic book/ cartoon life. Now that i've actually seen his bankai it probably the most underwhelming thing ever, including comic book/cartoon or real life. Last week the new issue couldn't come fast enough, now if they canceled the series right now i wouldn't care. It was that much of a let down.
he didnt look scared at all in the chapter, he probably as more thing up his sleave...
im sure he has some kind of other ability to make up for that pitiful bankai

Then again, you have to admit, a bankai that extends 13 km. is pretty strong/interesting. The fact is, Gin's shikai extends, so respectfully, you'd expect his bankai to extend. Remember now, his shikai was barely stopped by Rangiku, who's a lieutenant and thus, powerful, and even then he would've killed her if he didn't stop. Like Ichigo said, a bankai can always stop another bankai, and not most shinigami have a bankai. Of course, I'm just saying. :)
@CoIdAshes Bankai's are not always amplifications of a shikai. Soi fon has a two hit poison type shikai but a rocket launcher for a bankai. Tousen has a shikai that knocks a person out with high pitched sound and another one that rains blades on you, but his bankai is dome that robs you of nearly all senses, Kensei has a shikai that a small combat knife but a bankai that are knuckle blades blades and body armor. So it wasn't a given that Gin's bankai was gonna just be a bigger shikai.

Kyoraku and Ukitake got help from Rose and Love. and I don't see how ichimaru was playing with him when he was pushed into a corner and had to shoot that extra sword at hinimori in order to get hitsugaya off of him. hitsugaya hater

It's a stretch, but I think Gin may be alluding to something in 3:21. I think Aizen may be coercing Gin to work with him with the threat of death or by threatening Matsumoto's life.

Gin doesn't tell Matsumoto why he's following Aizen, and then he incapacitates her, probably to prevent her from getting herself killed by Aizen. I bet you we will find out that Gin isn't the "classic bad guy" who likes being bad. We're probably going to find out in the future that Aizen has been coercing Gin in some way.

@rollak3 - I don't think he's a good guy at all, but rather he's got his own agenda, which was to avenge Rangiku & kill Aizen. I don't think he cares at all about what happens to anyone else. When he sees Ichigo come back to confront Aizen, and comments about the power in Ichigo's eyes & that Ichigo may be able to defeat Aizen, it's not out of being one of the good guys, but more that his goal of having Aizen defeated will finally be achieved. (Just my take on things)

As much as Aizen thinks he knows, I'm betting that he doesn't truly understand the Hougyuko as well as he thinks, and it might be the key to his demise. Urahara might drop the knowledge bomb in the end with that sly glance & smirk of his. The other part of the theory is that one may have to allow it to activate in some manner and Gin never chose to accept it's power, so it was never received. Like he's fighting its corruption.

I keep having this feeling about Gin. That he is not the bad-ass as he portrays himself to be. I think there is a hidden agenda with him allying with Aizen. One of the hints is that he let Ichigo go when he tried to save Rukia when she was about to be executed and there more conclusive hints throughout the show. Aizen doesn't trust Gin either... Something is not right... I wonder what it is? ^__^

read manga 400 theirs more to his banki than reach. it extends almost an an instant faster than ichigo could see even constantly watching it,that makes pretty strong banki, a sword that can go 13km in the blink of an eye and less than a foot all before you can even really see what just happened? put that together with gins own speed and power and that can be one hell of a deadly banki epically if you seen how fast he can attack normally. scary all with his eyes closed lol, opened eyes=game-time

@TDoanLe that would be a hell of a match worth seeing seeing as byakuya is a master of Hohō, and kido to match his power and speed along with his banki, i don't know i'd have to say it would be a very close match seeing as he probably wouldn't be able to keep up with gin's banki speed, he would most likely be able to move faster than him in general as far as body movements alone and anticipate many of his attacks after a while as gin maybe would be able to too.a match definitely worth watching.

Gin is supposed to have a short sword but in this fight its a standard katana. This is before he released it to distract Toshiro. So why is it standard size while sealed when its supposed to be similar in size to the short sword in the pair that Shunsui has.

Well Gin's bankai has been revealed and I must say, so far worst....bankai.....ever. Last week when Gin finally said bankai that was on of the most exciting and anticipated moments in all of my comic book/ cartoon life. Now that i've actually seen his bankai it probably the most underwhelming thing ever, including comic book/cartoon or real life. Last week the new issue couldn't come fast enough, now if they canceled the series right now i wouldn't care. It was that much of a let down.

Then again, you have to admit, a bankai that extends 13 km. is pretty strong/interesting. The fact is, Gin's shikai extends, so respectfully, you'd expect his bankai to extend. Remember now, his shikai was barely stopped by Rangiku, who's a lieutenant and thus, powerful, and even then he would've killed her if he didn't stop. Like Ichigo said, a bankai can always stop another bankai, and not most shinigami have a bankai. Of course, I'm just saying. :)

@CoIdAshes Bankai's are not always amplifications of a shikai. Soi fon has a two hit poison type shikai but a rocket launcher for a bankai. Tousen has a shikai that knocks a person out with high pitched sound and another one that rains blades on you, but his bankai is dome that robs you of nearly all senses, Kensei has a shikai that a small combat knife but a bankai that are knuckle blades blades and body armor. So it wasn't a given that Gin's bankai was gonna just be a bigger shikai.
