  • Que caradura.

  • I am from India and after listening to a lot of western classical and neoclassical stuff, compared to our Bollywood music, now I admit that current Indian music is very inferior as compared to Western music or even much much more inferior to even europop too.

  • @axn36 "much more inferior"

This here is good music, but generally there is so much crap produced by western commerce that your Indian music is gold compared to it.

  • @MucusFelidae. You're right, not only Western Commerce, but Bollywood commerce as well which has degraded Indian music. Indian classical is gold, there's no doubt about it, but the decade of 1990s was the death of Indian music. It degraded so much that I stopped listening to Hindi music since 1994 & switched to Europop & Euro Neo Classical like Celtic & this kind.

  • never delete this piece of my soul please !!

  • What's great about this artist on YouTube? There's no pretentious kids who act like their age is special because they listen to this music. I'd like Pena to stay untouched by YouTube's mainstream.

  • i have 11 electric guitars... and this makes me want my 12 guitar to be an acoustic.

  • I respect all the great guitarists, who are many. But listen how clean, non-aggressive, confident playing. Arguably one of the best.

  • @DC180, If you think this guy is good(and he's a master flamenco player), you should listen to Django Reinhardt playing jazz acoustic guitar with only 2 fingers on his left hand. I should pretty much blow your mind!

  • @msilva12000 "Django Reinhardt....with only 2 fingers on his left hand..."

Nice, but demonstrative artistry. Me does not like that too much.

  • ive always loved they way paco attacks the bass notes..to die for. He also has great taste in music.

  • Comment removed

  • @DhrRepelsteel nigga please paco pena has has a bueatiful touch which is very unique. Critic.

  • did he finger tap?

  • As a flamenco guitarist, it was one of the greatest honors of my life to handshake this incredibly wise and humble mano in Holland a couple of months ago. He's not only a guitar virtuoso, but also an incredibly nice person to talk to. For me, he is the greatest guitarist and visionary in the history of Flamenco after Sabicas, along with Niño Miguel. I deeply admire how these artists excelled while staying true to PURE Flamenco.

  • the best of the word

  • I have had the privilege to see him in concert several times and absolutely love his music! He is one of the best guitarist of all times.

  • Especially for our birthday guest from a land removed from this but who influenced this magic. X

  • @Kilchattan7 Have a brilliant evening. Wish I were a little mouse to just observe...I'll imagine. Have fun. x

  • just watched paco at csula.. very great performance.

  • top stuff

  • Yesterday was amazing @ The Netherlands

  • does anyone know what guitar he plays, wich builder??

  • @yestragitaarbouw yes the guitars are by Gerundino who is now dead but I have three and two for sale which you can see on my page , also you can see my guitar of Requena. Ask me if you are not sure.

  • @yestragitaarbouw Well it's made of wood and it's got strings does that help?

  • @matrags depends on the kind of impression you want to leave on people.

  • @yestragitaarbouw A Gerundino

  • best guitarist ever, with Paco de Lucia ofcourse.

  • That's the most authentinc and finest Spanish music! Nowadays youth Spanish musicians have fallen into mediocracy motivated more by rock rythms than real Hispanic spirit. Thanks God we have youtube to enjoy good artists like Paco Peña!

  • @pazminor lool Yes Agreed, I have every recording Paco made and I play most of his pieces. He is superlative.

I play this piece by the way

  • @TomasJimenezGuitar hi do you have or know where to find the music sheet of this music as I have been doing a search on it for quit some time

  • Fan-fuckin-tastic

  • @DhrRepelsteel I think you’re not a very good listener. Sure there are better but only only few. Moraito is no way as good or as classy as Paco Peña! Peña plays the classy side of flamenco that is helping to give it a good name among the high class community while people like Moraito only play very simple and very low-class stuff that make most people think flamenco is a poor ridiculous low-class folk music!!

  • paco es arabe

  • I will pay for the tab of this song !!!!!!

  • amazing!

but to think i missed him playing in edinburgh last friday! raging with myself :-(

  • @delboy1978uk I would NEVER forgive myself for such mistake :D

  • @thedopemaster dont worry i'll make sure i see him next time!!

  • even Julian Bream admitted Peña is unsurpassed

  • yuh amınakoyim böle gitar mı çalınır lan... biz daha akordan akora geçemiyoz aq

  • The best flamenco player i have ever seen.i want to see him

  • good but not as good as ligthin hopkins

  • OLEE QUE BONITO DE VERDAD.....OLE

  • Who gives a crap about flamenco shredders like Paco de Lucia and Carlos Montoya when you have this. Although this is a grand display of effortlessly executed technicals, it takes nothing away from his "duende".

  • who the hell in their right mind would rate this negatively.. seriously

  • As far as Traditional Flamenco goes, There is no one whom I have heard or seen in concert who plays with such sublime beauty and exacting compass' as does Paco Pena. He is never overly busy with his playing, always realizing that the silence and where the next note is placed is of extreme importance in rendering the true flamenco feeling. I would love to meet him one day!

  • @pattietatoo

    my thoughts exactly!

  • k incredible

  • amazing

  • he makes its sound like a dam sitar lol

  • like it so much...

  • this is so beautiful

  • my god I get chills listening to this performance, specially if I'm looking. I've seen so much Paco Peña material, this one creeps me out. fkkkkin AMAZING. Paco Peña is forever my master. I just wish in my dreams that he was my teacher

  • The piece starts to sound so Arabic towards the end!

  • towards the end start another palo: tangos

  • !!!! vieja escuela flamenca!!!

  • Here is a TRUE gitarist with all the power and expression without 1000 watts amplification, special effects etc. Just a simple guitar. Pena is a true master.

  • Worlds best acoustic guitarist? Probably.

  • There's no probably about it, ask John Williams.

  • @LopanTheLemming worlds best guitarist period? probably.

  • @LopanTheLemming he is a classical player, not acoustic!

  • @KingOfShadows1500 Classical/Flamenco guitars are defiantly types of acoustic guitars!

  • @TheKenTama damn you dont get it! classical guitars and acoustic guitars are 2 different catedories of instruments and they are not played the same way, dont sound the same, dont look the same, etc... check on google by yourself and you'll see.....

  • @KingOfShadows1500 You are still getting confused with type of guitar and the playing style of guitar. Hand Paco Pena an electric guitar and tell him to play this same piece of music. Would you still consider that Flamenco style? He would be playing different guitars, but he would he be playing different notes? The answer is NO. That is the style. However, the guitar would change from being an acoustic classical/flamenco guitar to an electric guitar. That is the type of guitar.

  • @TheKenTama OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU are the one who gets confused! classical is NOT only a musical style but ALSO a type of guitar which has nylon strings and fat neck. acoustic guitars have THIN necks and STEEL strings! also, acoustic guitars are mostly used for chords and accompaniment while classical guitars are used to play pieces like this one and mostly flamenco. there!!!! now you get it?

  • @KingOfShadows1500 So you are telling me that when I pick up my classical guitar and play jazz or blues on it, that is still considered classical music? Your logic doesn't make sense. Let me let you in on what the World Book Encyclopedia states: "An acoustic guitar produces sounds when a musician plucks or strums its six strings. Acoustic guitars are used as solo instruments in classical music and in folk music. They also provide accompaniment for dances, country music, and blues." I win.

  • @TheKenTama OMFG JESUS!!!!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST SAY?? WHEN YOU PICK UP YOUR FUCKING CLASSICAL GUITAR AND PLAY JAZZ ITS STILL CONSIDERED AS A DAMN CLASSICAL GUUUIIIITTAAAAARRRR, NOT CLASSICAL MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF IS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND?! CLASSICAL CAN BE A TYPE OF GUITAR AS WELL AS IT CAN BE A TYPE OF MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!! and btw, musicians ''plunk their 6 strings'' on an electric guitar too, dumbass!

  • @KingOfShadows1500 I will agree, which is what Ive been saying all along, that: A classical guitar is a type of acoustic guitar, which can play any style of music. I will also say that a Classical guitar and a Dreadnought guitar, which is what you are probably getting confused with an "acoustic", are 2 different types of acoustic guitars. Im done giving lessons to you, idiot. Any more knowledge that you wish to obtain can be found at your local library.

  • @TheKenTama dude you're not giving me any fucking lessons, you're just saying shit all the time! and i'm tired of repeating the same thing all the time so why dont you go here and check by yourself...

    en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Classical_guitar

    en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Acoustic_guitar

  • @KingOfShadows1500 Thanks for supporting my argument. Go to the acoustic guitar page that YOU posted. Scroll down about half way to types and tell me what that says.

  • @LopanTheLemming No, that was SABICAS, his teacher...

  • @LopanTheLemming Classical* :)

  • @LopanTheLemming i think probably world's best guitarist, no contest.

  • I'm over players like Vai, Satriani, Clapton... doesn't come near to this as in real guitar playing..

  • @DC180 damn right :D

  • @DC180 The three you mentione suck anyways

  • @br289165 ha ha, yeah boi!

  • @DC180 Totally agree.

  • @DC180 DC180 Yore wrong, man.Thay are all prominent musicians, and each of them, including Peña,is staggering in his own way!

  • @DC180 brava

  • @DC180

They are all OK in their own "context". But... Flamenco is the most technical, beautiful, emotional & rewarding style of guitar playing that exist !

  • @DC180 there alot different tho -.- rather stupid comment

  • @DC180 well said!

  • @DC180 Maybe, but at least respect Clapton.

  • @DC180 How right you are...!!

  • @DC180 why vai, satch, and clapton not real guitarists. they just enjoy a different style style of guitar. nothing wrong with that. there are many great styles of guitar. like rock, blues, jazz, fusion, classical, flamenco, country, fingerstyle, ect. i view that what satch, vai, and clapton do is just as great(if not better) as this.

  • @THeBEEtleNAMEdGEORGe In my opinion, Pena has more technical ability on the guitar than any of those mentioned. Yes there are MANY different styles of playing, and there is nothing wrong with enjoying a different style, but the reason why I think guitarists like Paco Pena, Sabicas, and Paco de Lucia are the greatest of all time, are because of their technical ability, pure and simple.

  • @TheBlazeAG rock guitarists have some very technical players as well, like steve vai , and paul gilbert. besides, guitar is not a sport so it really doesnt matter who's more skilled.

  • @TheBlazeAG yea but they are more technical with the right hand, some of the best technical guitarists are rock and jazz players just different

  • @gimpyjwilliams Idk about that cause I knew a 16 year old who was trained in both classical and rock and he learned Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, and Joe satriani songs with ease, he also learned mozart pieces and bach pieces on the classical. but even he tells me that flamenco is muuch harder than that...

  • @roflswamp6 well maybe it was for him i am just saying the right hand technique is where the big defference lies in flamenco thats the technical part of it, but the left hand can be technical in anything, well i guess we all have opinions :P

  • @gimpyjwilliams yeah and I do love rock and electric guitar and im defenitely not saying that it isnt talented. Im a huge fan of Ironmaiden and lots of rock and metal but I like to listen to all forms of music. django was a jazz genius. I was just trying to point out that of all styles that I have seen flamenco seems to have a super high standard compared to other music types. but yes I love all music and enjoy the variety

  • @roflswamp6. Iron Maiden is really nice standard band, far better than Black Sabbath, Nirvana, Korn. Nirvana degraded western music totally.

  • saw him in the early 70s at the sadlers wells n he was just amazing a truly master guitarist

  • You are my master.

  • ...insane

  • i find Paco Pena musicly better then Paco De Lucia

  • BOLD

  • Very bold indeed. Paco de Lucia is one of the greatest guitarists of all time, across all genres. The man, with only a guitar in hand, can evoke every single human emotion. At times this has required going beyond the traditional flamenco form and Paco has done this, while always remaining true to his roots.

  • couldn't agree more with this paragraph of yours.

  • Excellent Tiento!

  • Paco Pena es el último guitarrista de flamenco. Yo lo miré realiza en el Teatro de la ópera de Sydney en los años noventa tempranos, con su compañía de baile. ¡El no me falló! ¡Viva España!

  • olee

  • OMG

  • Ole! *****

  • WOW! that was impressive..

  • Brilliant!!

  • Esto huele a Cádiz,arte Cai.

  • muy bonito thanks

  • i envy ... i envy

  • awesome fantastic superb tremendous brilliant great wonderful marvelous incredible magnificent sensational impressive fabulous...

    5*

    any more superlatives?

  • aetherial, delicious, MAESTRIA, kick ass? :)

I can't even COUNT how many different things he does I couldn't do in my dreams

  • That's what your doing wrong.

try doing them in your awake hours...

  • long thumb nail

    rad

  • Semplicemente fantastico!!!

  • his alza pua is outstanding

  • perfection

  • Absolutely perfect; masterful.... Sounds like 3 people playing together.

  • sublime!!

  • Paco Peña taught John Fillmore, and now John is teaching MY guitar teacher! :)

  • 3:52 - Holy Christ!!!

Does anyone have an audio version of this? I want to put it on my MP3 player

  • The original version can be found on his remastered cd "Fabulous Flamenco" on Amazon; however is not this special performance.

  • Paco taught Naruto to do the rasengan

  • This guy taught Tony Blair to play guitar

  • Impresionante Paco Peña. Si señor, me encanta.

  • Paco taught me everything I know about the guitar

  • Crazy Good! Fantastic. Incredible right hand.

  • My guitar teacher was taught by Paco Pena

  • rien a dire on sen ici le pros et c'est vraiment très très beau!!

  • Hm...I´m a performer anyway.I have passed already the 5-6 hours a day practicing technique.I'play for more than 10 yrs now.You know Mr.gavinmose, that gfsaad has said that Paco Pena havent practice picado at all in his life and thing like that. But if you think he is right than good luck.

  • but i don't know you at all... Please show some respect, anyway.

  • and who are u? if u dont know me that doesnt matter at all....in my country Im well known enough..but its not important I said that Paco Pena is an artist who has practiced very much...thats why he is so perfect.

  • could someone explain what "rumba", "grananinas" and "tientos" is?

  • I´m curious how your picado is dear gfdsaad...And I dont know how you dare to say about an artist that he didn´t spent not even 3 hours a day praticing technique?Haha it´s just ridiculous!I have spent that time with it..

  • renatino, im gonna go ahead and tell you not to pay attention to this mentally challenged guy (i mean, he obviously is, right?)

in any case, this interpretation of paco pena is absolutely amazing.

  • Maybe you should try,and you'll see what practice means...but i don't think that you've heard about music politics and protocol. If i'd be Paco de Lucia i'll be telling you to practice to gather skill 8 hours a day,so i can be the best and you won't achieve faster than i did.The true thing is...if you really are talented you don't need to do too much practice because you're willpower dictates a perfect practice timing.Cheers

  • Talent + Practice + Time --> Greatness

  • You got it. All you need is some way to get that talent out of you... like when you are a child and you see something impressive, a jet plane take off, and then you want to be a pilot... But some are more dextrously talented than others. Look at Django Reinhardt, he had two fingers but still playes better than almost everyone playing now. Not being silly here either!

  • Whatever. My opinion is partly different from yours but you seem to know them personally, so discussion is pointless.

In reaction to your comment on pena's bad technique abilities I would like to invite you to take a look at the videos recently posted by "elduendecillo07". Regarding this my opinion is quite the opposite from yours.

  • Yes, you are correct, but if you don't have musical tallent you don't see reason to spend so much time on this.

I have met countless people that want to be great guitarists but they don't do any exercises... why? no tallent, they don't want to understand, they want appreciation.

    That's what i meant.

Your musical tallent dictates how willing you are to spend 3, 5 or 7 hours a day practicing, even if at a nearly unconcious level.

So you see.. it is about dedication.

  • Dude, If I understand your english properly, you are incredibly full of shit.

  • that's another way of saying it.

  • what one man can do,another can.

  • yeah thats true, but only if the man's mind is absolutely clear--if not, then he is too lazy and will never amount because his brain isnt trained to take on such a task

  • It's all about dedication... your mind alone can do that, it's just that you don't know it, and if you are supposed to do that, you'll find the willpower.

That's all there is to it.

Now i'm done talking about this, cheers and have a nice life, i hope you enjoy the song.

  • It's not 'all' about dedication, the upper limit of what you're capable of will ultimately be set by your musical talent. That's what sets Pena, De Lucia, Bream & Williams, to name a few, apart from the rest.

  • @tmjcbs Dedication is a prerequisite to find your true talent... which does not have a fixed limit. Play for your own enjoyment first. Be happy and enjoy.

  • @tmjcbs

    I have to disagree.

Any person can become as good as the Paco's, Sabicas, anyone. It's just that they dedicated a lot of time and love to their music from an early age.

If you realise such persons spend a minimum of 4 hours per day on their instrument (on avarage), you may even call it natural.

  • @zbnmth if it's that easy, it's odd then that there are only a few class flamenco players (and other top class musicians in general). Besides the technical ability, don't ignore musical talent - that's ultimately what sets top class musicians apart.

  • @tmjcbs It's not. I was talking about the great players, not the top notch. The top few, as in top 5, usually live a life around playing. From an unconfirmed source, I heard de Lucia practised 12 hours a day when he was 8.

But who wants to spend their days practising? However much I love flamenco, and once had a lot of spare time (I played around 3 hours a day) I don't want to give up that much.

  • @tmjcbs You are right. What ultimately sets the great players apart is talent. H

  • @gfdsaad Tish.... Blah! Paco's worth the effort.

  • Actually.. i'll go as far as to say he almost never practiced technique, only to sing.. that's why his alzapua is awesome, as his is rasgueo, but picados need more work.

    Cheers.

oh and by the way.. i keep seeing people mention paco de lucia, i reckon they mean his picado and compositional skills, paco de lucia spent 3..say 4 hours a day for about 7-8 years..

  • It's not important if you believe what i just suggested or not, that's the truth and that's that,

Perhaps for a person who thinks they have to stay 10 hours a day to play like that it may take more than 3 hours a day to reach the level.

Do you understand what your mind does?

You'll probably notice that paco pena's picados aren't anywhere near the best in the world, that should tell you alot if you know what you're talking about.

The thing is he didn't stay 4 hours a day... not even 3

  • I think he's from Córdoba... not sure though.

Avivagabriel... thanks for the comment about baglama.. I will have to check that out. To me that part just sounds extremely arabic/moorish.

  • And when do you eat and sleep if you practice 10 hours a day?

You know musicians have to make sport too, otherwise every musician would be a 250 kilogram person holding a little thing they call guitar, or lute or whatever.

Basically you told me how much you don't know about musical training... good memory will get you there in ..say 5-6 years with 3-4 hours of practice a day...and the best part is still to come:

You can still go on vacation for weeks without worrying for losses.

    Cheers

  • you are on wellfare support?

I, like many others with jobs, work about 10 hours a day and still manage to get some eat and sleep.

To reach anywhere near this level, you will need a little more practice then you just suggested.

  • I was recently on holidays in southern spain and stayed a few nights in Cadiz, where we came upon a bunch of old guys wiht guitars in a hall which looked like it was a monument to Paco Pena. Does anyone know if he came from or lives in Cadiz?

  • j'aime le son "rond" de paco, assez classique par moment...On sent bien qu'il cherche aussi le son pur et beau...Grand guitariste!!!

  • I know that he loves Cadiz,he may live there.Cheers

  • olé!

  • Towards the final third, there's a sound remeniscent of Turkish baglama...where's he's playing two distant strings together in a hard, insistent rhythm.

  • To reach anywhere near this skill you need to dedicate yourself like you do with a full time job and train 10 hours a day otherwise forget it.Not many can do that.

  • On top of that you need to have a natural prodigal talent. Truly rare.

  • Such a fanatstic composition and performance... especially from minute 3:30... very nice sort of arab/moorish sound. This is one of the tracks that got me hooked on flamenco in the first place.

  • I have an album featuring this composition (on the album it's called Tientos del Puerto). Just search paco peña 1970 in Emule :-)

  • I agree with you fixthisshit!

    Except for me though!

    Hahaha i wish!

  • I met paco pena recently last year in dallas tx. and let me tell you that when this man perform you lose the notion of time. he's best friends with my flamenco teacher, that's how i got to know him, he's such a cool man, he even autographed my guitar if anyone is interested is $600 i got pictures to prove, i need the money thanks!

  • You are the king Paco, no guitarist can match this man.

  • very beautiful music

  • Wooooow! Awesome. Paco Pena is the best flamenco guitarist I've ever heard

  • Very classy!

Pieces like this make Flamenco Music as complicated and classy as Classical Music!!!
