@Muneem2 That cannot be done. The only way you could obtain an instrumental version of this song is if a) dream theater ever releases the instrumental demos, like they did with ToT b) someone else goes on studio and records everything except for the voice.
@xXSTFDXx that can also be done if you had the Voice track. Then you apply some tricks with sound editor, and you get the instrumental.... like if they were to release a voice track anyway
@xXSTFDXx You can also use a program to take out the voices and save the file as an instrumental. Something like Guitar Pro is able to do that, around 4 years ago. Haven't used it since then, but I'm sure it's a whole lot better now.
@meerak915 it would sound terribly weak. since its a multi-layered track recording (like pretty much every recording thses days) youd be filtering out parts of the drums and guitars frequencies. it would sound very good at all.
@Muneem2 One way you could get a mostly instrumental version: If you have a recording program that has "Invert Phase" capabilities. You can put the song in there twice on 2 separate tracks. make sure one track is all in the left channel and one track is all right channel. take one of the channels and do an "invert phase". Since most vocals are panned to the center, the inversion will cancel most, sometimes all, of the vocals out of the track.

Too bad Pourtnoy is gone. Hopefully he'll get into an equally talented band with a more powerfull sounding vocalist. The guy from DT can sound a bit whiny sometimes.

Best Dream Theater song I have heard. Many of their others just weren't heavy enough for me. I tend to prefer bands like Dark Suns and Communic over DT.

5:29 sounds like the little breakdown thing in the song "In My Darkest Hour." by Megadeth... So Alot of trash influence... I also have to remember DT has been around since 85' so they were aroudn alot of thrash influences at the time.
I don't really get all the Tool vs. DT debating. They're nothing alike other than thy're"progressive" or use odd time signatures. And as good as I think Tool is, I doubt they could ever make something as epic and varied as something like A Change of Seasons. The structure, the progressions, just the instrumentation in general. But then again, why am I comparing, they wouldn't want to - they're not Dream Theater, and Dream Theater aren't Tool.

Best Dream Theater song I have heard. Many of their others just weren't heavy enough for me. I tend to prefer bands like Dark Suns and Communic over DT.

Why don't you people stop comparing every band with every other band, and every album with every other album.. These bands don't compete against each other... They form so that they can put their ideas onto a cd and get it out there. Everybody's arguing over "this band sucks now since this album".. To those people I say: If you like a band, go buy the same cd over and over you dumbass. I guess what I'm trying to say is: Who gives a fuck about who you think is the best band?

5:29 sounds like the little breakdown thing in the song "In My Darkest Hour." by Megadeth... So Alot of trash influence... I also have to remember DT has been around since 85' so they were aroudn alot of thrash influences at the time.

I don't really get all the Tool vs. DT debating. They're nothing alike other than thy're"progressive" or use odd time signatures. And as good as I think Tool is, I doubt they could ever make something as epic and varied as something like A Change of Seasons. The structure, the progressions, just the instrumentation in general. But then again, why am I comparing, they wouldn't want to - they're not Dream Theater, and Dream Theater aren't Tool.

@MKzero64 Actually, DT Is like Tool, Only bit bigger diffrens i find is thta Tool songs are not built aroud guitar.. Also only thing I don't like in DT is singers voice..(like I think he would fit better in power metal band cause of his voice) That is why I like more DT songs without singing But instead I think Tools Maynard James Keenan is best singer ever.. But that isonly what i think

Creativity...musicianship...one instrument is hard than the other....this guy plays better than that guy....both you guys are kinda missing the point here.
Sit back and enjoy the song, don't analyze the intricate details behind its creation or creators. I personally like this song from Dream Theater because the time changes gives it a journey, and keeps the journey fresh.
And if you bash this comment, then again you've both failed to find the real point in the music.

If you say that music is to be appreciated, then I say that the mind is to be exercised.
