This was pretty much the original idea. It was written by a man in the perspective that he clearly wants a relationship but girls just want to have fun and he clearly can't find something serious. Cyndi and her peeps heard the song and thought it sounded more like a girls anthem and so that's what it became and they wanted it...but originally Girls just Wanna Have Fun was supposed to be a slower song...it fits both perspectives well, but it's nice to hear a slower verson...Amazing actually...

it wasn't even cyndi lauper who originally sang this. it was a guy named robert hazard--he wrote and recorded this song in 1979.

I'm a dancer and I recently did a piece to this song. As much as I despise Miley Cyrus, this version made me cry. It is very insperational and I absolutely LOVE it. I hope to see it live very soon in my home town of Chicago.
