When torres crosses, Iniesta was onside, he''s quite clearly in line with or just behind the last defender. If he was offside at this point the flag would be up and a free kick would be taken
when torres cross ball into iniesta, there was hint of offside...the netherlands defender blocked this attempted cross, which made iniesta (if offside) an active player, forcing the defender to defend a ball he shouldnt have. the second ball to iniesta from fabregas was clearly onside, so on that part... the goal stands.
more of the fuss was over netherlands not getting a corner at the other end, where anything could have happened.

@Handeler see, this is what i dont blaming the ref is such a good idea. ill make it simple for you. 22mins into the game - van bommel tries to break iniesta's leg. he is sent off. after that, everything is different. holland play less like barbarians. the game is different... if van bommel is sent off in 22', it means de jong possibly doesnt kick alonso in the heart... understand?

@Handeler my bad. i typed too fast also. howard webb should have sent van bommel off 22". IF he'd done that then perhaps je jong wouldnt have done his kick on alonso. (he was NOWHERE NEAR the ball. if alonso wasnt in the air he would have been kicked in the face). if van bommel or je dong were to be sent off (and rightfully)... there would have been no extra time! no bitching about this and that. it would have been holland with 10 men

Its very annoying me that they keep showing the moment when Iniesta got the ball and directly scored, while everyone who claimed that it was offside meant the moment before, so the shouldnt slow down that last moment but the moment before. I think it was Level or just like a few centimeters offside, anyway, not clearly at all then.

lo curioso es que los grandes medios de comunicacion no repitieron jugada en pase de Torres en el dia de la final, creo, o al menos apenas terminado el partido, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que era eso lo que los holandeses protestaban al linea. Repitieron el pase de Fabregas, en el que,, claro, iniesta no estaba fuera de juego. Aunque ya la hayan repetido y muestren e iniesta en posicion legal en pase de Torres no se si me la creo, porque lo normal es repetirla en el partido o poco despues.

Xabi Alonso was kicked right in the chest by holland and he fell to the ground. Shud of have given him the red. Spain commited fouls too but they were defending themselves against netherlands I mean the dutch started fouling first. Eventually the weight of all the fouls and failed plans was to much to bear for the Dutch and the succumbed to Spain. Viva La Madre Patria!!!!!

@aneelmattu - that's very very wrong. He's involved in play, as his presence causes the dutch to do that awkward attempt to clear the ball. Had Iniesta been offside, it would've been called, because he infuences the play, which is very much relevant. Learn the rules before you claim otherwise.
That being said, Iniesta wasn't offside neither at Torres' pass nor on Fabregas' one.

There was some great plays by both team but no goals. So we want to remember the fouls. Webb's fault who should have sent off de Jong. For the rest it was 50/50 with a very weak refereeing and a big mistake on that goal. Surely no offside but a counter attack when the Dutch team had a coner kick.
This said kudos to the winners. Barça has even won the world cup. Good job.

I know Dutch fans are still upset that they lost, but how can you say Iniesta's goal was offside?
First pass, 1:06, Iniesta was onside, but barely.
Second pass, 1:10, Iniesta was VERY onside. The replay even darkened the video for you.
The only valid complaint is that a corner kick should have been given to the Dutch. But that's football. Handballs, intentional fouls, even De Jong's karate kick was punished lightly with a yellow card, because the referee didn't see it clearly.

As a qualified and currently active referee it is always funny listening to what the donuts on the sideline think at your "non-offside calls". They have no idea that spectators watch the game, assistants watch the offsides and little else. While spectators turn their heads to view the next phase of play, they may have been 'in line' but ultimately they did not see the line when it is KICKED
