@san5a89 sorry about the late response. these guild pickups are actually single coils. around 1970 they started using humbuckers that had a very different sound
About that Rickenbacker 4005 replica, I intend to post some new videos, because I've got better pick ups for them(the tone is about the same, but much more thicker), but it's a really cool bass.
And I liked very much your Guild! The Starfire is one of the basses that I most like (unfortunetely, almost impossible to be found here in Brazil), and it's excelent to hear someone making a good use of it (great Jack Casady tunes!).
that's awesome man. I listened to this record everyday for months when i was a junior in high school! No one knew what the hell it was in 1999! hahaha. Nice playing and great sound! Where'd you find this gear! A Guild bass head!
I especially love the Hot Tuna live at Berkeley 1969 album; an absolute must have!
The guild head actually came to me when I posted a wanted ad for a tube bass head on the local craigslist a while back. You can usually find them on ebay for a few hundred bucks. lots of bang for the buck:)
@baceace Thanks! Actually, the bass is short scale, but I believe Sheryl Crow usually uses a solid body M85 with dual humbuckers instead of a hagstrom bisonic single coil
@stephenfrary no, sorry, it's a 66. there were only a handful made in the very end of 65. mine was an early 66. toward the end of 66 they moved the bisonic up to the neck position.
Beautiful bass. Nice jam. I have a Guild Bluesbird.

hey I have to build a guild humbucker in a bass. Where can I put to have a better sound? Near the neck or near the bridge?

flatwounds indeed. heavy gauge fender flats to be exact. i've tried them all and I always come back to this same 7-year old set.

Very nice, sweet tone you have. Have you seen him play? He still tours all the time with HT. They are touring in August.
You should try to take Jack's bass class at FPR. I've done it twice, it's great fun. Cool guy as well as great player.

@crownofcreation68 . Hiya, I like your playing. Is the bass short scale and the same Model as Sheryl Crow plays?
