  • waoh!! fantastic sound!!!

  • @carcano80 Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • But it must also have been fun to be on the road playing guitar for dancing people? and yes many todays musicians use way over that days usage : / and many other too ofc

  • @sambobla The playing was the fun part. The worst part was those darn outfits you had to keep clean and ready to wear. Big road bands would hire a "momma" to keep their clothes clean and pressed, we was a poor road band and had to do it ourself. If you wore dirty clothes on stage, you got one warning and after that a bus ticket home. But, it had it's fun times. Thanks

  • i too think this is Hank's greatest song. and you play it well!

  • @sambobla Thank you, I'm glad you like it. In spite of his battle with alcoholism, Hank was a deeply religious man.

  • @bgdenham Yeah i have read about him in many ways Johnny Cash was a lot like Hank am i right?

  • @sambobla Yeak, you're right. I played on the road in the early 60's. People have no idea what the pressure is/was like. In the old days (lol), it was reds, bennies for uppers and sleeping pills for rest. That stuff would be considered candy today. Back then it was alcohol and a few pills, today it's cocaine, crack and meth. It's all deadly.

  • I agree, best Hank songs

  • great playing!! I love how you lip-synced the words, that gave me a good laugh

  • @BradSpead7 I didn't mean for it to come out funny, but I guess it did. I was playing and singing along with my own CD, Thanks. It's still tricky even with your own recording.

  • Meu Deus! Como isso é lindo. E esse senhor cantando e tocando do modo que faz é uma das melhores e mais reconfortantes coisas que ouvi nos últimos tempo!

  • @StevanCardoso Gracias

  • Beautiful Billy !

    Terje

  • @chet420615 Thanks to my pickin' buddy across the big pond.

  • Wonderful - the picking and the singing. Wow! Fantastic. Thanks for sharing. Gwen

  • @cadjunk You are most welcome, I'm glad you like it.

  • @MrGospelGuitar Thanks. I met THE Mr. Gospel Guitar in Nasville a few years ago. I idolized him and Chet.

  • @bgdenham I used to watch Dwayne Friend on TV a lot of years ago and I'm 63 now. He must be, well, a little older than I am.

He still plays great. I saw him and Chuck play Onward Christian Soldiers on you tube and they were great.

What can one say about Chet? He was the one and only and he inspires all of us still.

  • @MrGospelGuitar Yea, I think he's maybe a little older than me and I'm 66. I met Dwayne at the Chet Convention and got to talk with him quite a lot, I only wish I had got to pick one with him. I know one of my prize moments was when I got to pick some with Scotty Moore at the CAAS convention about 12 years ago. Best Wishes

  • My god you have a great voice praise the lord

  • I don't claim to be a singer, just a guitar picker who loves to sing. I'm glad you like it, and I praise the Lord with you.

  • @bgdenham you definitely could. Not that the playin'g any worse than the singing.

    Really great cover overall !

  • @Master100Mind That's very kind of you to say so.

  • Very nice; I enjoyed it.

  • You sing pretty good for not being a singer! Great job! Loved it.

    ***** 8^)

  • Thank you, you are very kind to say so. A very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year to you and your family.

  • Very nice....I enjoyed your singing and playing.

    David

  • Thanks. I'm not a singer, but I enjoy trying. I started trying to sing after restaurants told me they wern't interested in hiring just a guitar player.

  • very nice i wish someday i'll play like that

  • Just stay at it. Go where pickers are playing and watch. If you can, get a good teacher, it's worth the price. Good luck.

  • I was wondering, What's the name of that guitar?

  • It's a Yamaha AES 1500B They stopped making them for awhile, but I think they are back in production. The one I have was a salesreps. It was the 5th one made. The serial no. is 005 Yamaha tried to buy it back, but, noooooo deal.

  • Oh that's interesting, I've always wanted a semi-hollow guitar they sound so beautiful.

  • Very nice! Can I get chords on this? you have no idea how hard it is to find anything other than a tab with one string tab notes.

  • It's just a standard 3 chord progression. It's in the key of E with A and B7. Shouldn't be too hard to follow.

  • Thanks! I'm just not too good at finger picking so I wanted to know so I could figure out some variations in the key.

  • Let me know if I can help in any way.

  • Hello mister Billy, you're fantastic! I agree with my son Ronald. 5 stars from me too! My son can learn a lot from you. Thank you for sharing.

    Hugo

  • I thank you, and tell Ronald I said "Hello". Steal all the licks you want to; as Chet Atkins once said, "It's petty theft when you steal from me". Not true of him, but true of me. Thanks alot, Billy

  • Hello mister Billy, you play and sing this song so fantastic. The first thing I thought was Wow. 5 stars! Your voice sounds like Tennesee Ernie Ford and I admire your fingerpicking. I'm very impressed. I also like fingerpicking. You have many video's, this is the first one I've seen but certainly not the last. Thank you for sharing.

    Ronald

  • My neighbor made a complaint about this song! thinking that i was in trouble, and i was sure to be. she came over to me and told me i had to play it louder in the morning, that she could not hear it when i played. so i reset my pc speakers to # 7 and moved the computer in the dinning room. still use my pc as a alarm clock with this song as a wake up call. wife gets up on que now. thanks billy

  • Looks like you may have to make her a CD. Thanks for spreading my music. Billy

  • spreading your music is very rewarding, here in atlantic city, new jersey. people love it. here`s a shock. i came home the other day and what did i hear my wife playing! you got it. she had hooked the computer up to the streo and was playing your songs while hosting a tea party.thank you billy. you have a lot more fans then you know.

  • Do you have any of my CD's? If you would play them around, I would be glad to send you a few just for P&H. Thanks, Billy

  • i will e-mail you in about one week to get your c.d.s

  • wife has a problem getting up in the morning, i put you on and as soon as you say "i saw the light" i snap the shades up on her. she gets up

  • Great idea! I'll have to try that on my wife. LOL Thanks for the comment, Billy

  • I have my pc set up to play this song as a wake-up call in the morning to get me out of bed. I threw my alarm clock out. Nice eye opener

  • So I'm the first thing you hear each morning? How discouraging! Just kidding, thanks for the honor of being a part of your morning.

    Billy
