But it must also have been fun to be on the road playing guitar for dancing people? and yes many todays musicians use way over that days usage : / and many other too ofc
@sambobla The playing was the fun part. The worst part was those darn outfits you had to keep clean and ready to wear. Big road bands would hire a "momma" to keep their clothes clean and pressed, we was a poor road band and had to do it ourself. If you wore dirty clothes on stage, you got one warning and after that a bus ticket home. But, it had it's fun times. Thanks
@sambobla Yeak, you're right. I played on the road in the early 60's. People have no idea what the pressure is/was like. In the old days (lol), it was reds, bennies for uppers and sleeping pills for rest. That stuff would be considered candy today. Back then it was alcohol and a few pills, today it's cocaine, crack and meth. It's all deadly.
@BradSpead7 I didn't mean for it to come out funny, but I guess it did. I was playing and singing along with my own CD, Thanks. It's still tricky even with your own recording.
Meu Deus! Como isso é lindo. E esse senhor cantando e tocando do modo que faz é uma das melhores e mais reconfortantes coisas que ouvi nos últimos tempo!
@MrGospelGuitar Yea, I think he's maybe a little older than me and I'm 66. I met Dwayne at the Chet Convention and got to talk with him quite a lot, I only wish I had got to pick one with him. I know one of my prize moments was when I got to pick some with Scotty Moore at the CAAS convention about 12 years ago. Best Wishes
Thanks. I'm not a singer, but I enjoy trying. I started trying to sing after restaurants told me they wern't interested in hiring just a guitar player.
It's a Yamaha AES 1500B They stopped making them for awhile, but I think they are back in production. The one I have was a salesreps. It was the 5th one made. The serial no. is 005 Yamaha tried to buy it back, but, noooooo deal.
Hey Wes, Good to hear from you. My grandson, who does all my posting is attending college out of town. I will post some more when he moves back for the summer. Health is ok, thanks, Billy
Excellent job my friend, that's some first class picking and singing. Makes my hackjob on the Gretsch sound even worse hah. I'll be checking out more of your stuff.
I moved about 4 months ago and I still have unpacked boxes. It will be awhile yet. I would like to make a DVD, that will be my next project. Thanks, Billy
I thank you, and tell Ronald I said "Hello". Steal all the licks you want to; as Chet Atkins once said, "It's petty theft when you steal from me". Not true of him, but true of me. Thanks alot, Billy
Hello mister Billy, you play and sing this song so fantastic. The first thing I thought was Wow. 5 stars! Your voice sounds like Tennesee Ernie Ford and I admire your fingerpicking. I'm very impressed. I also like fingerpicking. You have many video's, this is the first one I've seen but certainly not the last. Thank you for sharing.
My neighbor made a complaint about this song! thinking that i was in trouble, and i was sure to be. she came over to me and told me i had to play it louder in the morning, that she could not hear it when i played. so i reset my pc speakers to # 7 and moved the computer in the dinning room. still use my pc as a alarm clock with this song as a wake up call. wife gets up on que now. thanks billy
spreading your music is very rewarding, here in atlantic city, new jersey. people love it. here`s a shock. i came home the other day and what did i hear my wife playing! you got it. she had hooked the computer up to the streo and was playing your songs while hosting a tea party.thank you billy. you have a lot more fans then you know.
waoh!! fantastic sound!!!

i too think this is Hank's greatest song. and you play it well!

@sambobla Thank you, I'm glad you like it. In spite of his battle with alcoholism, Hank was a deeply religious man.

@bgdenham Yeah i have read about him in many ways Johnny Cash was a lot like Hank am i right?

@bgdenham I used to watch Dwayne Friend on TV a lot of years ago and I'm 63 now. He must be, well, a little older than I am.
He still plays great. I saw him and Chuck play Onward Christian Soldiers on you tube and they were great.
What can one say about Chet? He was the one and only and he inspires all of us still.

Just stay at it. Go where pickers are playing and watch. If you can, get a good teacher, it's worth the price. Good luck.

I was wondering, What's the name of that guitar?

bgdenham 2 years ago
Oh that's interesting, I've always wanted a semi-hollow guitar they sound so beautiful.
ytimachev 2 years ago
Very nice! Can I get chords on this? you have no idea how hard it is to find anything other than a tab with one string tab notes.
blackhawk1491 2 years ago
It's just a standard 3 chord progression. It's in the key of E with A and B7. Shouldn't be too hard to follow.
bgdenham 2 years ago
Thanks! I'm just not too good at finger picking so I wanted to know so I could figure out some variations in the key.
blackhawk1491 2 years ago
Let me know if I can help in any way.
