  • 1:54 "D-d-don't you know what happens to, uh, l-l-little pun-, er, b-b-boys who smoke?"

  • The lesson is: Don't Smoke, Steal.

  • This would explain why Porky was so messed up later on.

  • If only if this was in color

  • @Steventhe2nd

I have a color version of this episode on tape that I recorded more than 20 years ago when I was a kid, but I didn't tape the title card. I was wondering what the title was all these years. Now I know.

  • 2:03 Porky's epic face.

  • deleted scenes from 4:18 and 5:28

  • this scares me even now lol

  • The song by Cab Calloway was cut, " Little boys shouldn't Smoke " Too Bad, best part of the cartoon !!!!

  • @14225james its on this version /watch?v=sgNz6dzRI_0&feature=related

  • @zigzagbigbag Tried it. Could not get it to play. I will tweak with it and see if I can get it to go. Thanks.

  • One of the most terrifying Loony Tunes cartoons I saw as a kid.

  • @littlemember1938 Don't have the colorized version?

  • Yay! Someone finally put this on youtube. :D

  • Is his mom German?

  • I haven't seen this since the mid 90s!

  • Oh my god, I REMEMBER this! This used to weird me out a little. But anything that had to do with drugs did for a while.

  • Yes, that was released the following November, 'Hazy'- but this WAS Frank's last Porky cartoon, until "Porky Pig's Feat" in 1943.

  • @fromthesidelines How did you know the last director?

  • thanks!!

  • This was Frank Tashlin's final cartoon for the studio (released in August 1938) before he defected to, of all places, the Walt Disney studio to work in their story department {although very briefly; then, to Columbia from 1939 through '43, returning to Schlesinger in' 43}. The "crooners" at 5:04 are caricatures of Bing Crosby and Rudy Vallee. "Cab Calloway" at 5:37. Note the ad for "Old Hiram Binder's Cut Plug" tobacco at 5:34- that's a reference to the studio's production manager, Henry Binder.

  • @fromthesidelines I think "You're An Education" was actually the last one released that Tashlin directed in his first stint.

  • Pretty bold message at the end for 1938's standards

  • So glad to have seen this one again. Been looking for it forever. I saw the colorized version on Cartoon Network with alterations to the blackface gags.

  • this brings back so many childhood memories.the stuff classics are made of whoever posted this thank you.

  • I was wondering if I'd ever find this short.

  • this would be better to use than any of the anti-smoking adds over the years plus you can't go wrong with the Looney Tunes; never met anyone who doesn't have at least one of the characters they like

  • A nickel...1/20th of a dollar, five cents, half a dime, did you say a nickel? Really? *_* LOL
