I don't see a problem that Lithuanians can also speak Russian :) It's not a unique thing that there are several languages spoken in the same country. E.g. Tunisians speak Arabic and French, many Indians speak English, Hindi and some other language. And in the case of Lithuania many people speak Lithuanian and Russian. Call it colonial legacy or whatever, what is the difference? Why should we become strictly monolingual just because we are an independent country?

I think they are trying to be polite to the Australian filmmakers, who would be unlikely to understand Lithuanian.
