Actually, what Tom says here contradicts what he said in later interviews(post-Monotheist)

here: "This album is a combination of everything we have done before"

around Monotheist: "Every album was an achievement of itself because we wanted to do the opposite of the album that came before it.."

I like Celtic Frost and I like Tom, but what he says he just does not fit together with what he says now...

@Pagantones Well a combination of all other albums is still original. If they only had influence from lets sayyy just to mega therion in the album, that would be un-original. But if the album has influences from all the other albums that makes it a pretty different album. Even monotheist has alot of old Celtic frost influence, yet it is a completely original album. I think he is saying the same thing, just in different words.

I don't like Cold Lake either but I respect Tom for having enough balls to make EVERY CF album different from the last and take chances with every thing he did. Death/Black Metal have become ridiculously cliche & to whoever said Celtic Frost weren't genius- if a band that made albums such as "Morbid Tales", "To Mega Therion", "Into The Pandemonium" & "Monotheist" isn't genius, there is no such thing as genius in a metal band.

It's sad but Tom has every right to be cynical. We can't even imagine what it's like to be fucked over by multiple record labels & distro companies & let down by band mates repeatedly over a 20+year music career. He had a sense of humor when I met him in 2006. It's mostly w/ interviewers or fans that ask stupid questions(ie."Why'd you do Cold Lake?") that he acts negative. He wrote a book years ago & has been having to answer that question for years. I don't blame him for getting pissed.

I saw him smile in another interview. Martin was talking about his Catholic upbringing, before hastily adding "I wasn't manhandled!" Which made Tom, not really smile but laugh. Better than nothing I guess, but bands should be more like Municipal Waste.

There's a notion called innocence vs. experience. As you grow older and gain more experience, it can take it's toll on you. However, I know guys his age who have had to deal with the same shit he did who are much happier than he is.

Well, I can only imagine how much shit he's had to hear because of "Cold Lake" over the years.

Think about how many times he's been dissed on in mags thanks to that album.

I would be surprised if he's resentful that what might have been a succesful venture(Cold Lake) did not get it's full potential because he was forced to release it as a "Celtic Frost" album.
