  • ¡GENIUS!

  • Keep thinking of great ideals like this.

  • Also, I just used fingernail scissors to make the hole in the ear plugs to fit them over the earphones -- no need for a biopsy tool!

  • I came up with this last night, and thought I was a genius! Turns out I'm not. Haha. However, I came up with it less for the noise cancellation, and more for the comfort. Regular earbuds are far too uncomfortable in my ear when trying to sleep -- the harder plastic of the buds press against my hear with my head against the pillow, and it's just not an option. But replacing them with the ear plugs makes it much more comfortable -- plus, of course, the bonus noise cancellation.

  • Don't think I can do it with a pair of Bose earphones :(

  • this was really innovative; and simple to do. Thanks!

  • Headphones are what i primarily use because earphones break so easily, but I like this idea, it's very clever.

  • I LOVE HOW HE SAID'' DO A SIMULER OPPERATIOB'' WHERE MAKEING HEADPHONES NOT PERFORMING SURGERY

  • @itsover55 SImilar* Operation* We're* Making*

  • wow, This is really smart.. Cheap 2 Mine always fall out. So stressful

  • good idea but i always thought that the standard rubber ear buds were part of the bass drive acting like a bass box so to speak with these noise reduction home made ones im sure thats exactly what theyd do and actually cancle the bass am i wrong or rite as ive not made a pair

  • @LITTLENICKSTA I found that the base was actually higher, and I had to adjust the EQ of my music accordingly to bring out the treble and turn down the bass a bit.

  • Good idea, they look kinda funny though.

  • Thats really smart actually

  • or just buy foam tips

  • Thumbs up for prepping ahead of time!! (^,^)b

  • and also shure comes with like 21 different buds.... so... no thx

  • why the fuck do you have apple in-ear headphones? they're a rip-off!

  • Those are not a plastic, this is a silicon fit .

  • I'm going to make this one for my Jabra bluetooth!!

  • Thank you!

  • I feel like i'm watching art attack

  • PURE GENIUS!! SAVES ME ££'S great vid!! ;)

  • where do you buy that ear plug and what it's name... my local ace hardware only sell ear plug from plastic, not foam.. : (

  • Nice job. Very creative. Thank you for doing this video.

  • whydid u record this with your mac... anyways, thanks though :D

  • isn't it better to make the hole a bit bigger?

  • @NasseerBoss no you dont want to make the hole to big because it will slip out of the headphones small is good it focus the sound in one direction rather than everywhere thus limiting the amount of sound and lowering quality

  • @NasseerBoss thats what she said?

  • how do you get a biopsy punch?

  • I LOVE IT! GENIUS...but you knew that didn't you.

  • Thanks !

  • his dad is jeffery dahmer... The Biopsy tool was a hand-me-down

  • Just bought the stuff needed to do this, can't wait to try it out :D this video is so informative yet clear and concise :D good job bro!

  • O.just randomly found this video

  • Can you do this with the other apple earphones that basically everyone uses?

  • @Drewerd615 no. think before you ask.

  • @vlogittyguy Q_Q

  • THIS WORKS GREAT AND INCREASES THE BASS REALY WELL!!!!........IF YOU HAVE BEATS BY DR DRE......... OR BOSE.......... EARPHONES THEY MAKE THE BASS EVEN BETTER............

  • you deserve a blowjob

  • I'm using them now :D

  • LMAO u remind me of the show Art Attack, how the guy always has one step done ebfore hand and just throws the old one and says, urs will turn out like "this" exept it never does for me =[

  • I tried this and it works great! Just make sure the hole you make is clean and as large as you can get it without the tip pulling out of the plug leaving the earplug in your ear. For my Skull Candy Ink'd earbuds that's about 4mm. Too small a hole or too ragged will affect sound quality very negatively. Also, get a big pack of plugs and make a few sets. You'll want to replace them at least weekly with heavy use. It's not an issue as the plugs are very cheap and can be found at any pharmacy.

  • did he say cherrs at the end

  • works pretty well .. thanks!

  • This is cool but if you want to step up on the isolation search here on YT for "Collin's Lab: Custom Fit Earbuds".

  • shitty

  • Jvc marshmallows come like this and have the clearest sound I've been able to find all for like 20 bucks at walmart

  • What a waste those are 80 dollar headphones

  • @Nkristinadn Why, It improves the SQ and you can allways use the old Bud back on the earphone, Nothing changes on the earphone itself apart from the seal is much better, While we're on the subject apple in ears are not all that amazing, Check out Westone W4's they would blow your mind if you like apple buds lol :)

  • dayummm...thats fricken like youtube nobel prize worthy lol

  • Dude I just finished makin them. It was hard finding a tool to make the hole. They are incredible thnx bro

  • @MRDYSE13 what tool did you use!?

  • Why the fuck do you have a biopsy punch? :P

  • @NickyDark17 if you can tell on his other video he probably goes to syndey MEDICAL school

  • @NickyDark17 lol i was thinking the exact same thing except i thought he was gonna say

the resong i have a biopsy tool is becuz...... lol

  • @NickyDark17 to make Noise Isolating In-Ear Headphone Earbuds...Duh.

  • @NickyDark17 Probably in the medical field or just got one from a hospital. Not hard to do.

  • Custom fit to improve isolation and enhance deep bass and treble clarity is the idea.

    It is comfortable.

Lets try it to prove it.

  • are they confortable?

  • good job men !!!! congratulations

  • The Apple Armature:

Sound Quality For its' price: 5/10

There are better earphones. Meelectronics is a good start.

  • @Niyologist I was actually going to buy Apple dual armature earphones. But im sure my UE 700s sound way better. .

  • @bigdima3 Of course they do. They are on-par with Jay-q Jays. :D

  • @Niyologist Ye, i've seen some pics of Jay-q, they're so small.

I hate the fact that my UE 700s aren't loud compared to my SuperFI 4. .

  • COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • my mechanical pencils dont have that metal tube, any other ideas to make a perfect circle hole? where do u get a biopsy tool?

  • Great tip man, i'll definetly do this one.

  • where the fuck did you get a biopsy tool?

  • awesome!! thanks man! it works great

  • thank you for this! i have funny shaped ear canal..buds kept falling out all the time. this makes it a lot better..although i could make the hole better if i had the biopsy tool.

wish i'd seen this vid while on my dermatology rotation :(

  • Great video. I have some fairly expensive in ear headphones, but do to your well done video I am going to give this a try.

  • i used a piping tip, round #7. works the same as the biopsy tool

  • Great vid!

Anyone knows how these compare with Shure Olives or Complys? :)

  • this is amazingly comfortable. thank you

  • The description of the biopsy tool was a little serial killer, but cool tut.

  • that is a great idea

  • This is so awesome!! I have skull candies and I lost rubber ear bud off the ear phone so this is an upgrade and a replacement! Thanks dude!!

  • 0:32 Brainwave! Clever thought man!

  • are u Canadian ?

  • OK, I tried your idea. I used a riveting tool that has a leather punch on its side to punch the hole. To speed up the inflating of the squeezed earplugs significantly, put them in a tall glass and blow hot air from a hairdryer on them until they have reached their original size.

The sound of the bass is not as good as with the original earbuds though.

    Anyway, great idea!

  • @caustictruth @j0rzeh @joeelipo Foam tips including Comply Foam do not provide more isolation. They're designed for those who cannot get a good fit with normal silicone tips. In fact, because the material itself is so breathable it absorbs lows and highs leaving mids emphasized.

  • @bigdima3 Really? I agree with it not isolating better, but I tried the Comply on my SP51 and there's better bass impact than the silicone.

  • @Niyologist That's right. The bass APPEARS to be increased only when you use bass heavy earphones. However, if you use bass-less earphones you would want to switch to silicone tips to squeeze the last amount bass.

  • Fantastic idea! I'll give it a try as soon as I have 10 spare minutes! Thanks!

  • i tried this and it did not work too good

  • hey does it affect the sound quality of the headphones at all? but otherwise it looks very easy to do. thanks :)

  • awsome going to try it

  • you,, my man.. are a GENIUS

  • they sound great!! thanks for the tip!

  • You could also use a leather punch, if you have one.

  • doing it with a pencil eraser cap is much harder than you think

  • cool

  • freaking genious

  • Perfect for getting work done without pissing anyone in the office off (or having to listen to them for that matter).

  • Great tip! Thank you for the video.

  • At 3:21 i said THATS WHAT SHE SAID

  • Thanks man this is awsome i dont have to pay 300 bucks you get a thumbs up and a sub

  • lol Lame, for 15$ you can get some Sentry noise canceling ear buds, and they work perfectly, unless you need Headphones or are a Rich prick who can't stand things less than 200$. :)

  • Fucking genius thanks

  • Is it me or do they expand really slow..

  • but when it come out of your ear, it'll have a lot of wax!

  • Great idea! Gonna try this, thanks

  • Stop spooning

  • ooohhh! a biopsy tool! not everyone has a biopsy tool. are they available at you local walmart, office depot, lowe's or best buy store?

  • Does this work like comply?

  • I have made these myself but using a slightly different technique. Instead of a cutting tool, I heated a nail over a flame and once it becomes hot enough, it will melt a perfect hole through the entire earplug. I used this setup while riding my motorcycle and can say it works extremely well. Obviously not professional grade but I was very impressed with the isolation as well as the retention in my ears. One big negative however...if these plugs get wet they are completely trashed.

  • hmm this one is better sspazify.webs.com

  • A .22 rimfire casing will serve the same role as the mechanical pencil lid.

  • In 3:21 he says it doesnt slip out

  • Done it, works fine.

    Thanks for the idea !

  • Good idea.

  • DAMM YOUR SMART

  • Awesome. I was going to do a custom molded diy until trying this. I used a regular old paper punch to make the hole. My meelectorincs have never sounded or felt better!

  • You are a fucking genius. Just saying.

  • Nice desk

  • Very analytical approach. I especially liked the sharpening of the mechanical pencil pusher. Brilliant. I was musing about modifying my foam earplugs for this purpose, but now it's a plan. Now the hard part -- finding the right pair of quality in-ear-headphones that don't cost a fortune. Thanks for sharing :-)

  • lol i had this same idea but i didnt know how

  • Marvelous. I'll never disturb my fellow travellers again. No more black eyes.

  • thats good but 1 thing if u remove the earbud out your ear that tip will stay in your ear & next thing you know your siting in the er room w/ the dr picking at your ear for this not to happen u would have to crazy glue the foam to the earbuds but maybe you dont want to do that either because there will be some time u will need to change the foam then you will spend time scraping the old crazy glue off to put more crazy glue on for the new tip stick with the tips & foams that came w/ your earbuds

  • @abstract312

Anyone think of anything to prevent this besides from using glue?

Actually, has anyone tried and tested this earbud thing and does this actually happen?

Thinking about it now I guess it wouldn't cause if you have to stretch the tip over the headphone then 'assuming it contracts quite tightly

  • thats good but 1 thing if u remove the earbud out your ear that tip will stay in your ear & next thing you know your siting in the er room w/ the dr picking at your ear for this not to happen u would have to crazy glue the foam to the earbuds but maybe you dont what to do that either because there will be some time u will need to change the foam then you will spend time scraping the old crazy glue off to put more crazy glue on for the new tip stick with the tips & foams that came w/ your earbuds

  • Ultimate Ears has something like this too. :)

  • Sweet , this will be really good for when i play the drums . I can never hear the song i'm playing with the headphones i use now.

  • @love2punk IKR!!!! i went to the hardware store and bought some noise canceling ear muffs n stuck my headphones in there......this actually might be cheaper tho.....i got mine for shooting which i also enjoy, but whatever floats your boat! lol on the upside i can jam out to my music while im at the shooting range......kinda weird watching me swing my gun to the music..

  • @Jetcampe Whats IKR?

  • @love2punk IKR=I Know Right! lol :D

  • @Jetcampe ohk then

  • Dude, awesome vid!!!

heres an idea : If u dont have any of those tools to make a hole u can use a bike pump needle, then u use the plug for the headphones to widen the hole!

  • This really helped. Great Idea

  • i thought of doing that and i couldn't figure out a way to punch a hole the right size in the ear plug but thanks to your videoooo it helped a lot and these work great im never gana buy a pair of replacement earbuds again THANK YOU

  • Thats very cool does it stop noises from commin out of the buds

  • koss makes these for $20 if u dont feel like doin it =] they sound friken sweet too....great idea tho

  • "Ummm Yes Hello"

  • LOL...to perform a similar operation....

  • best idea and explanation so far :D

  • "A pair or scissors" lol

  • wtf why do you have a biopsy skin thingy.

    weird

  • Hi. clear video. I just have a question. When do press onto the orange ear plugs, why do you have to wait 2 weeks for it to spring back into its original shape?

Or did i hear that wrong? thanks

  • you are such a FUCK-TARD you need earphones to make a earphones

    dumbass

  • thanks!

  • Isn't your name really Spicholas Nooner?

  • The original in ear design, does it leak much background noise? I have seemed to misplaced my human biopsy tool.

  • interesting concept...

  • i have the skullcandy 2xl brickyard dj headphones there fucking amazing!

  • Very nice and clear upto the point video...

    indeed very informative.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • or you could buy foam tips for ear buds

  • Thannkskss

  • Very Clever!

  • but doesnt those earbud that you put get soft as you use it through the years

  • nice

  • My parents got mad at me for doin this they said it's not good for your ears. . . i don't get what they mean

  • Thanks for this video. I had a hard time getting a hole punched in, but used a crab fork to puncture and cuticle scissors to cut a small hole. Now I can listen to audiobooks fine on the subway without blasting my ears off.

  • BRILLIANT!!!

  • Where can you buy a biopsy punch? Like can you buy one at Wal-Mart or a local store like that? I've made something like this, but I used a drill and it tears up the inside of the earplugs. Great video by the way!

  • FUCKING BADASS!! :D lol i love my headphone for once now lol

  • is that a 2mm Biopsy Punch?

  • ha, 3mm

  • does it have superb isolating ?.. I don't think so .. just waste of time..

  • @gundrag000 OMG 10 minutes down the drain!!!! AAAAAAAAAAHH

  • Awesome video. Great tip

  • lmao do you always have biopsy tools lying around? this guy is funny down here.

  • thats smart

  • Awesome.

  • do you always have random biopsy tools lying around your house like that?

  • wow are you serius skullcandys suck.

  • Awesome idea! but I was thinking, If you don't want to go through all the effort of making your own. Buy the "JVC Marshmellow"(~$10) ear buds and use the tips from those. Not sure how they would fit in the Apple In-Ear buds thought?

They use the similar material as the ear buds you used, just more "stiffer".

  • Nice. Clear, to the point, and clever. I was seriously considering purchasing new phones because of this, now I'm gonna look for this type of earbuds.

  • I love everything about this video. (:

It's simple, to the point, and makes sense in every part. It would be extremely easy to exactly replicate everything you did.

You gave the easiest way to do everything, and multiple ways to do things, in some circumstances.

It's also high quality (nice MacBook!).

I had thought of doing this to my SkullCandy TiTans, but never did, and now I will.

Thank you lots, and keep it up!

  • That is a gooood idea

  • great tip... kudos...

  • great vid. My only question is what are you doing with a biopsy tool? Thats kinda weird unless you are a doctor or something.

  • Yes, doctor. But understandably weird otherwise.

  • You stole my idea!!! hehe, just kidding, I ve already tried this before but I could never cut the foam in the center like you did. I will try this way. GREAT video!
