@aidancaddel oreo cookies are a processed food genetically modied food, most likely with traces of milk and eggs then it probably has bigger traces of soy, bleached wheat and bleached sugar. I wouldn't be surprised if it had corn syrup or corn starch in it but it's unlikely. How are Oreo cookies vegan? Please don't say because it's not meat because going vegan is more than staying away from meat, it's about cleansing your body and living natural. There's nothing natural about the Oreo company
yes but i only liked the home made stuff when i was younger..i have been looking for a vegan recipe so i will give it a shot..thank you and merry christmas
Hi Kevin and Annmarie! Do you guys have a recipe for a healthy cobbler? I love making cobbler but it uses so much butter and sugar that it winds up not being healthy! Any suggestions would be great! We are trying to go healthy and get away from processed foods hence why we want healthy cobbler :)
As a kid from the late 1950's through the 1960's my mother used to make me homemade egg nog using heavy cream, milk, raw eggs, and nutmeg.....This lady lived to be 94, so I guess she was doing some things right....
Yes, and since I'm not raw [yet] I think this will be my last holiday with it. I've recently cut out as much dairy as possible, but this will be my indulgence for the season. I love it, but in small doses and with no alcohol. It sits very heavy in the stomach and is very sweet, so small glasses are recommended. This recipe sounds interesting, and I wonder if it would be similar. Have you given any to non-raw vegans that like eggnog? Thanks for the recipe!
I always make whipped cream with coconut and that works amazingly well..hardly taste the difference (oke...you would if you'd compare the two and taste them at the same time, but if not.... it will be a satisfying whipped cream!)
Just whip up full fat coconut cream (homemade if prefered to be 100% raw) you can add a natural emulsifier to keep it nice and combined if you'd like...
If you use raw, unpasteurized, antibiotic free, whole milk from grass fed cows or goats and eggs of equal quality using raw honey or stevia to sweeten,
I don't see why that wouldn't be really healthy? Assuming those with dairy allergy's avoid it.
love egg nog.....and eggless nog too. Don't make as much as you guys did....Make mine with hazelnut mylk/kream and thicken with chia gel (1/2 to 1 tsp chia seeds in water to make the gel). Thanks for all you share!!! All the best!!!
ive tried almost all commercial brands of egg-nog they have around here and I don't like them, strangely enough I like silknog, which has neither dairy nor eggs in it.. go figure =p
hmmmmm i think i am going to make egg nog now!! except.. no avocados or mac nuts... i'm going to use irish moss... it has really thickened up my warm chocolate i've made a few times =D
I think it is a bit disingenuous to call what you're making 'egg nog' if there is no booze - then one calls it a 'virgin' egg nog - but it would be better off being called a vegan 'holiday smoothie' - the only thing 'noggy' about it - is the use of almond milk, as oppose to flavouring or essence - and the addition of cinnamon and nutmeg - a spice which is used regularly - by the way in ethnic cooking throughout the world.....Anyway I'll try this version 'cos I have a friend with Coeliac. Thanks!
Great recipe, but cream is not a junk food. Especially raw cream, one of the best sources fat soluble vitamins like A,D,E and K plus a bunch of minerals. People have to stop fearing saturated fat, it is NOT the cause of heart disease.
Never had it, though I've been seeing some kind of eggnog/egg punch at the stalls of German Christmas markets every year. Always wanted to try it, but I'm gonna go with your version!
QOTD: I've had regular eggnog growing up but was never too fond of it, my parents always got the alcoholic one. I've never had vegan eggnog. Never knew it could be done!!
Wow looks even better than eggnog

I haven't tried eggnog yet, but when I do I will use real raw eggs and some alcohol, but not much since I don't like feeling drunk.

Whipped cream sure isn't junk food. You'd have to make it yourself, though. With raw cream and stevia and less sugar than usual or maybe raw honey.

Couldn't a frozen banana be used as well as an avacado?

@samsarasilverstar Yes, I make mine with banana and it is delicious.

Yes, I remember egg nog and loved it so growing up but I had to thin it out with milk then because it was too thick for me to swollow.
Hey I still use nutmeg after the holidays, I still make raw peach pie and you use that in the dessert.

I've never tried real eggnog! It's never been appealing to me. The thickness and all that dairy is so off putting.

I've never seen egg nog that thick!!
Usually it is very runny but velvety. It looked more like an eggnog smoothie...but whatever floats your boat...
