this game is by far the worst RPG ever made, no escape functions, narrow paths if you want to avoid enemies, you are forced to fight enemies and you get 1 second to block or counter which makes this game ridicously hard!

So, only Polka and Frederic can use magic, right? How in the world does this game define magic?

Allegretto can summon fire and darkness.

March can summon fire.

Salsa can harness the moon.

Viola can summon light and darkness, and can heal the party.

Falsetto can summon fire, ice, and thunder.

Jazz can summon fire and darkness.

Beat can somehow steal life force with what I had thought was a normal hammer/gun thing.

I'll let Crescendo slide, but Serenade? What counts as magic? XD

@Furyaki12 Mistake: Falsetto can't summon fire, but she can summon darkness. Claves can also heal the party.

Again, if none of this counts as magic in this world, then Polka really did get shafted.

Mixed up Salsa and March. Im glad someone else thinks about like me though.XD Maybe Serenade's staff is a product of the castle's magic studies. I wish they'd elaborate on the "Magic". BTW don't for get Jazz can summon A big ass gust of wind from his blade too. Crescendo kind of summons crystals from the ground and Marches Super Nova has electricity on it. I get they want attacks to look interesting but magic's supposedly so important they should've been more discreet.-.-

BTW, don't forget their attacks come from their weapons. Polka and Fred actually summon stars, lightning, Etc and heal with their own hands. Viola claims to throw some sort of arrow to heal. I don't...know why the hell Beat randomly can steal an opponents HP...but that's another argument!

Of course, this would just make me ask why Waltz doesn't invest in awesome magical weapons that seem just as effective as natural magic instead of mineral powder that shortens the life span of those who use it.

I assumtheir attacks take some sort of technique so maybe Waltz is just lazy and wants natural magic. I mean even if disarmed you can steal throw a star, or summon a huge bolt of lightning at someone.XD

@Furyaki12 Polka and Fred's moves that create magic symbols under them are classified as magic. Also all healing moves/spells use MAG as the calculation, so Claves, Viola and Serenade count in that regard. As for the others, those are special moves and as such they're releasing their fighting spirit in exaggerated ways as is befitting RPGs.

@lukereplca You first need to have a certain Party Level to access harmony chains. When you have it, you can chain together the special attacks of your party against a single target as long as they're all within range. To do this you use the first one, then press the indicated buttons for the next special attack. This won't hurt your accumulated Echoes at all, in fact it will raise it. You can extend the number of attacks to 6 at the final party level, which you get in the extra dungeon.

This game is by far one of the best JRPG's I have ever played, and i enjoyed the PS3 version much better then the xbox version. more closure to the story and the bonus dungeon is fun as well.

Not to mention certain boss battles are more challenging due to being 2 instead of 1 at that certain point..

All in all one of the best JRPG's ever, I played through it a total of 5 times in first month I owned it. playing with different characters and then on encore mode getting the cooler items and all

you get party lvl 6 on your first encounter there. You can use clavs from the start to lvl her up if you wish. When you complete it you get her for keeps.
