Funny, I haven't heard the ZR1 losing 50%. According to Kelly and NADA it's initial depreciation is no worse than any new car. And is much more than a straight line car. Check it's numbers on the Nuremberg ring. It did very well, like it Cadillac cousin the CTS/V it set a few records going around the ring. Don't knock the ZR-1, it is a great road car and handles very well. But, these a cars that have to have a skilled hand to manage. These cars or the Ford GT are not for amateurs.

What I meant was that they don't test many American hypercars. They have not run the Viper SRT10 ACR, SSC Aero, or Saleen S7 for starters. One held the Nurburgring production car lap record at one time and the other two were each the fastest production cars in the world at one time. They never even ran the new CTS-V that had the saloon ring record for a while. There are others too. It isn't bias just because you don't like hearing it. Get over it.
Anyway, just clarifying what I said. The Viper ACR has a shot at placing very high. The Saleen S7 TT Competition and SSC Aero both have shots at beating their lap record or at least getting close. Like I said, they don't run anything American that they think will break into the 1:18's or lower.

It isn't so much that they don't test American cars as that they don't test most of the really high performing American cars that people are really excited about. Also, the GTX1 is great but you can't walk into a Ford dealer and order one. They aren't subject to the same criteria as a car straight out of a large company and neither are any of the other cars like that. Apples to Oranges.

hey dude. want to know a fun fact about the Ford GT? well let me tell u since u are a zr1 fanboy. well, if u do the research, the Ford GT comes out of the factory with 550hp because of spec regulations. The Ford GT was inteneded for 700HP, but bc of spec regulations it was detuned to 550hp.... believe me, a Ford GT out of the factory with just a tune you get well over 650HP, ive seen it in person, and thats out of a 5.4 engine...unlike Zr1 which is a 6.3 i believe... so now wat?
to get the 700 the GTX1 has all that was done was a different pulley setup (more boost), ECU tuning and a straight back exhaust........ so all the piece to the puzzle are there
@juggalozr1 the ZR1 is actually the same as the GT, they both have 0-60 times of 3.3 seconds, the GT did the Nurburgring faster than the ZR1 though, the GTX1 knocked the ZR1 out of the water though
7:40 is not faster than 7:26. The GTX1 probably is faster but it is no longer a factory car. There are Vettes, GT's, and Vipers from all sorts of aftermarket tuners putting out huge power and insane performance numbers. The GTX1 may look impressive compared to its rivals from the factory but it doesn't stand out next to the long line of other beasts from the tuning companies.

Yea, I gotta agree with josh, I'm American too and American cars really aren't very good compared to most foreign cars. They aren't built with the best materials, at the tightest tolerances, or with much passion. Ever notice how all GM vehicles have the same buttons, handles, and seats? Every once in a while, thought, we do something awesome like this Ford GT! I also put the Saleen S7 in this category.

A Ford GT is a great supercar because of the quality, and the price. At 100k miles I bet it will still run great, tight and solid, whereas the Z06 will be rattling, the leaf springs will be rusted out long before the 100k mark, and those extremely think cylinder walls I think may give way, who knows. No disprespect, the Z06 is an amazing performer, but they're terrible to drive on the street, lika gocart, I was able to have a ride in one, fast as fuck, but terrible interior...& no ergonomics.
PillowPan TS8490, dude, have you sat in a Z06, it's horrible. Even Jeremy Clarkson said it's good on a track, but horrible as a daily driver. The freakin seat doesn't even recline....
Love this car, so much wanna make me slap my mama! Definitely would rather buy this then that Z06 or ZR1 and the Vipers even though i admire those cars too... it truly is a Gods gift for mankind.

Anyway, just clarifying what I said. The Viper ACR has a shot at placing very high. The Saleen S7 TT Competition and SSC Aero both have shots at beating their lap record or at least getting close. Like I said, they don't run anything American that they think will break into the 1:18's or lower.

It isn't so much that they don't test American cars as that they don't test most of the really high performing American cars that people are really excited about. Also, the GTX1 is great but you can't walk into a Ford dealer and order one. They aren't subject to the same criteria as a car straight out of a large company and neither are any of the other cars like that. Apples to Oranges.

hey dude. want to know a fun fact about the Ford GT? well let me tell u since u are a zr1 fanboy. well, if u do the research, the Ford GT comes out of the factory with 550hp because of spec regulations. The Ford GT was inteneded for 700HP, but bc of spec regulations it was detuned to 550hp.... believe me, a Ford GT out of the factory with just a tune you get well over 650HP, ive seen it in person, and thats out of a 5.4 engine...unlike Zr1 which is a 6.3 i believe... so now wat?

to get the 700 the GTX1 has all that was done was a different pulley setup (more boost), ECU tuning and a straight back exhaust........ so all the piece to the puzzle are there

@juggalozr1 the ZR1 is actually the same as the GT, they both have 0-60 times of 3.3 seconds, the GT did the Nurburgring faster than the ZR1 though, the GTX1 knocked the ZR1 out of the water though

7:40 is not faster than 7:26. The GTX1 probably is faster but it is no longer a factory car. There are Vettes, GT's, and Vipers from all sorts of aftermarket tuners putting out huge power and insane performance numbers. The GTX1 may look impressive compared to its rivals from the factory but it doesn't stand out next to the long line of other beasts from the tuning companies.

It gets old when Clarkson degrades American cars so often. Ford is a company that isn't strictly based on racing like Ferrari, and Lamborghini. This is a perfect example of an American Muscle race car.

Brembo makes brakes, right?, well dont you think ford would thought, maybe we could buy however many brakes from brembo and throw them on the GTX1 instead of building a factory to build the brakes so we could tear it down once production ceaced. lots of car companys do this. mercedes porsche and bmw all use brembo brakes but do you hear clarkson talking about it. Yea, I gotta agree with josh, I'm American too and American cars really aren't very good compared to most foreign cars. They aren't built with the best materials, at the tightest tolerances, or with much passion. Ever notice how all GM vehicles have the same buttons, handles, and seats? Every once in a while, thought, we do something awesome like this Ford GT! I also put the Saleen S7 in this category.

A Ford GT is a great supercar because of the quality, and the price. At 100k miles I bet it will still run great, tight and solid, whereas the Z06 will be rattling, the leaf springs will be rusted out long before the 100k mark, and those extremely think cylinder walls I think may give way, who knows. No disprespect, the Z06 is an amazing performer, but they're terrible to drive on the street, lika gocart, I was able to have a ride in one, fast as fuck, but terrible interior...& no ergonomics.
