The USA and Jamaica has the same method of the first three past the post system to select individuals to participate in events at Major events(World champ and Olympic).I agree with your point of late regarding the disadvantage of this system because sometimes your best athletes are left behind.I donot think you should use just one meet to decide the selection of athletes but rather their overall performance of the season just as long they are healthy.The US trials should be one of the criteria.

On a really serious note.Sanya do you think Marrita kotch WR 47.6 set in Australia since 1985 can be equalled much less breakable?Even Jarmila Kratochvilova previous record is also a challenge.I have alwyays said that the women of track and field are at a great disadvantage to break WR given the politics and the controversy of these questionable 'world record's.I guess the reality of women track and field is that winning will always trumped WR.
