  • OK so thats like saying the cops are to busy with bank robers so it is OK to speed drive drunk and run people down because they don't enforce traffic laws so lets just do what ever we feel like doing. Grow up, radio is a privilege not a right. do what you will do on CB but stay off the Ham bands or you will be found and shut down if you are unlicensed.

  • Nice video from the old days

    73 Dave M0OGY UK.

  • kids and adults today have no clue what radio theory is. They just go on QRZ and memorize the answers to the questions but don't know anything about radio except how to push a button and talk.

  • @barett1962 Yup thats why its dying off. I think the FCC simply needs to do away with ham radio, kill it off asap and hand off the frequencys to legit users. Ham are passing the way of the rotary phone, dialup, carburated automobiles, and crystal police scanners. Im a ham and i dont see the use for ham radio other than chit chatting with someone overseas. Everyone uses cell phones and internet these days.

  • "you never who is listening in " waiting to jam your fucking qso. today youngsters just buy cheap ham equipment and have allot of fun causing interference and jamming people like assholes.

  • What a completely pointless hobby this has become. Nowadays ham radio is full of old grumpy retired guys who have nothing better else to do with their time/money, or weirdo "whackers"

  • @c0deMunkey Odd. I'm not retired or grumpy. The number of licensees has just topped 700,000, more than ever in the history of ham radio. Yes, there are some weirdos, but I can find weirdos in any hobby or group. Hobbies do not have to have a "point" as long as you enjoy them.

  • @timinbovey yes but how many of those new licensed operators know what they are actually doing and how many are nothing more than CB 'ers who memorized a bunch of questions and answers to pass a very simple test but know nothing more than they did in the CB hobby?

  • @barett1962 Well i would have never gotten into ham radio if it wasnt for CB. 3/4 of the new hams today are/were CB ops. Where else are we going to get new hams?

  • @TheZeke1974 yes but the CB operators of today ( most anyway) have no place in ham radio unless thy actually take time to learn the difference. CB isn't what it used to be either.

  • @barett1962 Most of today have an IQ less than 50. Most dont know the difference between a capacitor and a resistor. And im saying this lightly!

  • cb is 11 meter a former ham band with dx and all that it is a good bootcamp for future ham operators

  • @cbballbreaker1900 Your CB station transmitter power output must not exceed AM [Amplitude Modulation] - 4 watts 12 watts ssb. It is illegal to:

.[11] to communicate with stations in other countries, except stations in Canada (on General Radio Service). 6 To communicate with, or attempt to communicate with, any CB station more than 250 kilometers (155.3 miles) away

  • well all us americans do talk skip to every country in the word skip dx with 4 watts , 12 WATTS AND 1000 or 10000 watts! aint that america baby the so called law is not encorced since 911 cuz the gov has better things to do then cb or ham radio so cb is the new ham in america and no bithch fag is gona tell us how to use our radio anymore so love us or dont talk to us but u will hear us on the ham band and u cant do shit about it!

  • @c0deMunkey WHAT!! Im NOT retied, am 38 years old and am NOT a whacker. I resent that comment!

  • I remember seeing this film thirty years ago. Our club had a copy of the 16mm film and shown it at a club meeting. I remember the YL in the convertible and her Collins rig. I liked the two J-38's back to back to form a paddle for CW. I loved that guy's Lamb Chops! :) Makes me wonder if Swan was a sponser?

  • Very cool. This guy is still around (WB6KPN). Check out QRZ.com and search for his call!

  • What's the music name in the begin and end? thank :)

  • @CT1ELP.... Year has to be late 1960's to mid 1970's

  • LMAO! Thats what call some real vintage footage.

  • some more hams tryin to brain wash people ha ha ha 11 meter or nothin..grow some nads buy you a good convered 10 meter and a big ol scullcraka and run a pirate station on 27mhz band...times have changed FCC does not bother people for running power on 11meter band...and you dont have to talk so queerish ha ha ha lmao......

  • @locowhiteboy69 true you can act like a total moron and sound like one too. Why bother trying to learn anything about the proper operation of 2 way radio or electronic and radio theory and have thousands of frequencies and modes other than A.M.and SSB? Every one should become ignorant and give up their ham licenses and become cb'ers is that a 40 roger? 10-4 good buddy get down i'm out.

  • awesome

  • Can you tell what was the year this film was made ? Thanks

  • @CT1ELP around 1:54 MCMLXX, so that would be 1970

  • OMG young kids having fun!! Nowadays if a younger kids shows interest in ham radio the old farts run them off!!!!

  • @TheZeke1974 the only intrest younger kids show is how to jam repeaters w/ cheap 2 mtr radios and play xbox.

  • @burt2481 Professor, "Nice chirp!" means I like the chirp.

  • Back in the days before no coders and mean nasty old hams began destroying ham radio...............

  • @TheZeke1974 it's not the lack of code that destroyed ham radio it is the electronic media. Go to any ham site QRZ ARRL etc and find practice tests with all questions and answers from the actual test. All they do is memorize the answers and boom, pass the test and they are on the air. They should never given phone privileges to the tech. class either. They need to start making the tests more difficult and maybe even stop the multiple choice crap.

  • @barett1962 They will never go back to the "old ways" in this day in age of political correctness. In all fairness there isnt much we can do for the hobby anymore...

  • Nice posting but even 50 years ago they still said "name HERE is"

  • Nice chirp!

  • @VideoRanger give the credit for building it, what have you built?

  • Oh man, that soundtrack! It's so groovy. I feel like I'm in third grade all over again!

(But seriously, I find this really fascinating. Thanks so much for posting it!)
