In my opinion, it is Grohls unique, deft yet muscular drumming that made those songs at least 50/50 with Kurts sadsack poetry. I think the drums in Nirvana were the entry point for most guys into Nirvana's music and made them feel ok about relating to such emotionally torn up lyrics. Im no Foo fan though, Hole is amazing.

Eh, it was a B-side to the heart shaped box single, i mean if you want to get technical it was a Nirvana song but in all truth that was a Dave Solo project song that Kurt and Krist decided to put onto the single, the only songs that Dave and Krist actually worked on were Smells Like Teen Spirit(they jammed on it and tweeked it) and Scentless Apprentice, which Dave did the majority of the writing for except the lyrics and Kurt had that song tweeked as well. Kurt was the driving force of Nirvana.
