I have to be the one to break this to you, but BSG is the words SciFi series ever. I've prepared an analysis of this. I'll try to remember to send you the link if i ever finish it.
I'm glad you enjoy the series, and BSG is technically by far one of the best series ever, but I still hiope You'll take the time to read it. It might be an eye opener on how popular media is used (it being counciuos or not) either to further a political/social/morality point of view, or to be extremely heavily influenced by the creators backround in the same regards, and how this is a factor in forming/guiding general popular opinion in the societey in general, maybe in a direction we dont want
I will read it of course. But the idea that people might use fiction to "further a political/social/morality point of view" is not exactly a revelation - that's what most hard sci-fi does, and always has done.
Of cource.. THis is exactly what i adress. BSG seems to be furthering an agenda that is very counteractive to what I would think most (to some degree) liberals, or more broadly, "non-conservatives", would call progress.
Thinking of Peep Show, did you catch the new Mitchell and Webb last night? I really enjoyed it, and especially loved that bit of self-awareness about the hit-and-miss nature of some of their previous material.
I have seen the Hit or Miss sketch on Youtube though. Think I will buy them on DVD... when I am not tired but it's too late to watch a whole film I like to lie in bed and watch Peep Show / That Look.
Ditto. I've got all the Peep Shows and love to watch em in bed. I also really love The Thick of It - if I can sufficiently detach my critical facilities which otherwise drive me to paroxisms of rage at what we have allowed to pass for democracy.
I love Futurama! I can't wait for the new episodes to come! I never really watched BSG though, I think my aunt watches that and it is like crack to her. :P
26 normal episodes, but I wonder how far they'll take the jabbing at corporate American TV this time? Not that that's the be-all and end-all, but I confess that a great deal of the pleasure I had from the last series was their blatant digs at the channel and its controllers, and the suddenly edgy and provocative material you just know they will have hated. That was the moment I realised God was alive in some form or fashion. Well, I wanted to believe, anyway. Good days, good days. :)
This is all very good news indeed and has genuinely made me happy as I hit upon the announcements.
There's also going to be a BSG special which covers what the cylons were up to in the years before the annihilation. I admit to being disappointed that that wasn't covered in the main series, because I'd always had those questions.

Cool trailer and even better film, I watched it for free at bit.ly /de3WVj

any word on when The New Skinny Doctor Who With Tall Hair replaces Old Skinny Doctor Who with Tall Hair?
dangerouslytalented 2 years ago
... I see you are not a scifi purist then... I prefer the New Doctor Who over the Old Doctor Who for example...

If I enjoy the show more than anything I have ever seen on television, I don't think your analysis is going to change that.

Looking forward to Futurama.
Hopefully they are returning to a purely episodic format.
IMO the second film was the only one that managed to hold the plot for the length of the film.
