damn if all these niggas can get 4ghz with a stock heatsink, i wonder what my little e5200 can do with this big ass after market heatsink called zalman cnps9700 cause apparently all you guys idle @ like 40 - 50 C and i always idle around 16 to 21 C D : plus my PSU is not the best so OC'ing is a bit hard for me to play with atm D :
and that's with ANY game i play whether it be counter strike 1.6 to the new GTA IV, all of it always loads the same, just the newer games take a TAD moar heat than the older games do :/ all in all, i never really load past 35C and usually never go past 30C cause i usually just play counter strike source and call of duty 4
hey how much would a computer with these specs cost: 2x xfx 9800gtx 4gb corsair pc6400 ram xfx 790i motherboard antec 900 case zalman pc cooler Q9650 cpu 2 velociprator ultra 1000w psu and a sony dvd drive please tell me cuz im about to buy a computer from another site and i wanna know if your site really offers good prices.
the total cost for that configuration would be $2,628.11 including shipping but with the 20% off promotion thats going on now, the cost would be $2,103.11
$5,659.97 is just to much for a computer with your specs. e-mail me at vitalpcwave@yahoo(.)com so i can send you the payment. and thank you from buying it from us.
I think you need to be reminded that a hardware component of that size will reach max temp in like 5 minutes. it will also cool off completely in 5 minutes. Thermal logic...
Why are you asking, try it. Only you have access to your comp...play with it.
I was well aware of it existing but at the time i posted, the temp reading softwares werent updated with the new tjmax. The new versions didnt have any changes other than the new tjmax being the default setting.
i have 1 120mm fan in the front blowing air into the case 1 80mm fan blowing air to the graphics card the power supli fan 2 80mm fans in the back taking the air out
all the 4 pins are in the right position my thermal paste is mx-2 i've clean the cooler's normal thermal paste and apllyed this one
when you instal your system have you seen any problems with the reading temperatures of this cpu with the asus software
i heard somthing about this cpu that give wrong temperatures to us is that true?
that should run better than any AMD processor! can u run this on any board that supports C2D and 1333mhz FSB? or do u need a borad made specially for 45nm tech?
Gigabyte motherbords have problems with OC because sometimes (in my case very often) the bios automatically recovers stock settings, even if i set the CPU to 3.1ghz it still boots at 3ghz,but i've sold my EP35-DS3 and bought P5E(Changed bios from rampage formula+vmod) now only my ram is a barrier cuz it hangs at ~920-930mhz (corsair xms2 but bad revision)
What do you think if i take an e8400 and overclock to 3.5GHhz? That would be safe or dangerous with box cooling? BTW my motherboard is a Gigabyte EP35-DS4.
Hmm 4ghz on box is completely nothing special for e8400.I've OCed my e8400 on a shitty EP35-DS3 mobo to the 4158 mhz on box cooler in an antec 900 case,11.216s SuperPi 1.5 XS
hey m plannin to buy this beast can u temme which mobo will work right out of the box for it .... cuz i dont hav ne other cpu for the moment..... heard 780i doesnt oc it well....
mate i had an Asus 680i nothing but headaches, then i got an Evga 780i AND OMG, overclocks like a dream no hassels about ram compatibility, im at 4.05ghz 1.28v and im sure i could get more i just haven bothered, tryin to break in teh e8400 for a bit.
Hey guys.. would you rather have 3.4 Ghz Q6600 or 4.0Ghz E8400? I have BOTH in my possession and am not sure which to sell because I like them both! I don't do any encoding or anything like that.. mainly use my PC for work and gaming
well dual cores are better for gaming right now but i imagine more programs and games utilizing quadcores more in the future. with that said i would say keep q6600 and sell the e8400. you'll most likely get a nice profit from it seeing how its sold out in most places.
Oh, and if you people want to know why there hard to find is because there new. Like very new, also theres a few problems with the temperature readings. At least thats what I have heard I haven't proved it wrong, so be weary when over clocking as you may have the wrong temperature.
Erh, most CPU's operate at 60-70 deg cel. in the clockrate they are supposed to run at(If they are being stressed to the max.), so thats some wierd CPU's you have used.

why not?, my E8600 @ 4.8 Ghz is -15 IDLE and -7 LOAD

Yeh thats true, but u would want a intel chipset if u r an OC. However if u want Sli u will need to get the X58 or and nforce chipset.
hum901 2 years ago
Intel is better for OC than nforce. If u really want to OC massivly then go for the X48 or X58 chipset by intel.
hum901 2 years ago
x58 is for socket 1366 chips (or the i7's)... but yes intel's are better. a p45 or an x48 is the way to go for socket 775.

You can get to 4 at stock heat sink but with your heat sink you can probabably get to like 4.5 depending on your mobo

Hi.
I have got a E8400 and a Cooler Master CM Sphere. My CPU runs a 26c on stock, after playing crysis for 2 hours should i be able to reach 4ghz easly ?
maitrelame2 3 years ago
i reached 4.3ghz with 1.4vcore.

TopGunMan 3 years ago
It's usually faster to heat something than cooling it.
Heating a CPU takes about 15 seconds, cooling it takes about 10 minute probably because of the heat sink.
maitrelame2 3 years ago
Just to throw this in there, it will cool off in less then 5 mins less then 1 if its cooled well. However you are right about the max temp.
teamhex 3 years ago
For 45nm cpus, use realtemp or coretemp, but make sure the tj max is set to 100. Intel finally released the actual tjmax.
acies92 3 years ago
There is a new version of Coretemp that shows the correct temperatures with the E8400 and other 45nm cpu´s now

Do you have a good airflow in your case?
Did you apply your Heatsink the right way? Did all pushpin go through the black holes?
Did you use any better thermal compound like Arctic Silver 5 or Mx-2?

Dmk998 3 years ago
I would say that it's better more air out than in...
And, you may have different batch so it can idle higher and load lower or both high :)
Try to lower your Vcore so your temps will stay lower but it still needs to be stable.
lukeatluka 3 years ago
i've found the problem with the internal reading temperatures of this cpu now i've ajusted the settings ov coretemp and now the temperatures are:
idle: 30/32ºc
full: 38/43ºc
now this temps are good?
Dmk998 3 years ago
Ofcourse they are good. But for 45nm CPUs use Realtemp. Now OC :D
lukeatluka 3 years ago
ok i'll use the program ! and the temperatres are the same!! =)
how can i do a OC stable to every-day actions something like 3,4 GHz?
