  • r u kidding me, put the animation first...if this is a generalist demo reel always put your best stuff first, theres. since this reel is pretty long, theres a chance they didnt make it past a minute. not that is bad but they already think theyve seen your best work. if the animation is first itll keep them more interested to watch more.

if its for a modeing job its good t go

    awesome stuff

  • @hoze187 I Definitely agree with that notion. Amazing reel but break it up a bit with the animations.

  • Very very very good!!!! Superb work !!! :)

  • Excellent Work ! Would Like to learn from you ... The Best.

  • damn ur awesome!

  • superb demo !!!

  • great models xD

  • halo + gears + half life

    great models xD

  • Great work!

  • Awesome demo reel! I am using LW at my college, but I still have a ways to go to get that good. Great Job! Did you use motion capture for the animation?

  • when it's in grayscale, how is that rendered? I love the way that looks. Lighting setup?

  • @bertdutchie It's called Ambient Occlusion, I think AO renders look brilliant too :)

  • @wagawagawoo awesome thank you. That makes everything look much nicer!

  • Hi there, Which school you were graduate? I just came out of the college, but don't know where to go for 3D program including character modelling, lightning and animation like you did. Please let me know if you could send me an email is great> nguyenthanhtanbk2000@yahoo.com .I'll very appreciate your time in contacting me

  • Fantastic models!!!

  • Dunno how to ask this but, is it classed as cheating/hiding the fact if your model has low geometry (looks to squarish) and u only apply NURMS sub division in renders to get smoother results can you say it still counts as 1000 polys (for example) instead lets say 3000 polys in renders?

  • @MarcowaR If he knows his stuff he probably doesn't just have Smoothing groups. And NURMS especially isn't just in games. He's probably got a low poly with a normal map and a series of other maps to make it look like a high poly and detailed.

  • @AnSiB It was for myself to know :D cause I've been doing that and saying its so many polys but if i rendered it without nurms it's blocky :d (still a learning like) but i'll render with nurms so i get a nice smooth finish. but cheers for the reply. I'm still a newb that still needs to press turbo smooth to make it better lol

  • @MarcowaR I'm learning too! I was introduced to turbo smoothing by my teacher when i first started using 3dsmax. Now i never touch it. It's just a lot better to add in more edge loops and retopologize to make it a good model. It takes time and practice and i'm sure you'll get it in the end! ;)

  • thats incredible work, I couldnt do this if I tried

  • INSANLY GOOD !

  • lazors plz :D (ok how did u lasers and which prog do u used for this awesomeness?)

  • @normixxxx READ THE FUCKING DESCRIPTION

  • very nice! keep up!

  • wow

    ur amazing

  • Hi, great video! can you do an animation for our new movie. The scene would be about 5-10 seconds. There is pay. Please see our video animation spec deal for more information. Thanks, mark

  • Amazing! Thanks for the inspiration.

  • Damn! insane skillz!

  • please tell me u were a PRO when making this show reel. it depresses someone like me who has been in 2 courses still cant reach this standard???!!

  • @pusnjak Nobody starts out a PRO at Modeling or drawing, or animating. Practice makes perfect!

  • Did you make that star wars ship thing?

    This is awesome!

  • good reel. one thing I can say though is that there is too much stopping and popping in the actual video, great models though

  • awesome skills!!! keep it up!!

  • i like your grime and paint on your models it was great

  • I'm a student and there is some free software that really helped develop my skills. MakeHuman, Blender and Sculptris, all totally free and legal.

  • @GreyFox893 autodesk has given free licence for students for 3years for all its products, including softimage xsi 2011, 3d max, maya

  • @1989samir thank you so much for the information!

  • @MadMentalBad no worries mate :)

  • @1989samir Not only that, but you can also upgrade from student to full licences for like 350 each. 10X less than a standalone.

  • Its very very nice

  • I really hope my demo reel looks as good as this, truly kick ass

  • Hi. im an interested 3d modelling learner, and im wondering if anyone can tell me a free, easy to use modelling program? i practised a bit with the Second life item builder (lol) and did fine modelling in google sketchup, making some pretty interesting things. although ive recently tried to use Blender, and it is ridiculous trying to understand and remember all the different function hotkeys etc..

  • @YourMumsADouchebag Well, if you're a student, Maya has a twelve month license for free I think. Otherwise, Blender may be your best bet. I can't say it's "easy" but there are tons of tutorials on the internet. I'm not a modeler. I'm an animator, but the best advice I can give would be to start simple and then shoot for more complex things. If you want to learn, let me recommend CG Society. You can post your work there and get critiqued by professionals in the industry. Good Luck!

  • @YourMumsADouchebag If you're interested in 3D and don't want to pay a load of money, definitely use Blender.

  • how do demo reels work?

  • @13RevengeIsSweet Is like your resume, The demo reel helps you as a resume (Curriculum)

  • all of that looked fucking amazing untill it got to the little animation at the end.

  • how u did that effect at 0:16 .. its no texture and rendering ? . but why are there the line .. like when u click on the model in programm?

  • @iOwnZXx you mean wireframe?

  • @nameno1elsehas yeh ..

  • excellent work

can u tell me how many days it take to complete.

  • the soldiers look like something out of unreal tournament

  • wat da fak! ur a MONSTER!

  • i have a question how long does it take to render textures and does the cpu meter ever reach 100%

  • Comment removed

  • @cooldude89012 Not sure if mancubusX is going to answer, but I can give you on for now.

Textures, depending on their size can vary when it comes to render time. The bigger it is, the longer it will take because the more it has to calculate when rendering.

Your CPU hits 100% as soon as you start rendering. For example: Mental Ray dosn't care what other applications you use, it uses it all anyway. People I know have fried computers when rendering because of insufficent cooling. Be careful!

  • @DV7Dave thnks dave but i also have some advice and tips for you did u no blender is more powerful than all the the other engines and now with blender 2,5's unique interface its super easy to work with plus renders in blenders are the best quality the have ever been and it qhwn i render anything with my version it willl stay at 30% cpu and the quality is wow i have to say i dont catr about buying another 3d program when i can get the best for well free

  • Excellent real. Your textures are top notch. Keep it going!

  • amazing models

  • Are these animations are motion captured? If not, they are simply amazing

  • AMAZING

  • That is amazing... you are really a pro at 3D!

    Jon

  • impresionant. you have to made a film. Incredible the animation, and the modeling is... impresionant

  • Amazing. I'm using LightWave 3D in my beginning animation and it's hard to make such good models! You are plain amazing. Have you thought about joining a commercial buisness? That's how my teacher started out after college and now is doing Beginning Animation, Advanced Animation and AP Animation ( [A]dvanced [P]lacement... AP)

  • love the mapping and the light composition

the 3d modeling is quite easy if u know what your doing but u are rly advanced in that too

  • Sorry, it's prolly a stupid question, but what does Demo Reel mean?

  • @IzUalKarbad No question is stupid as long as you don't know the answer, thats how you learn ; >. Anyways as far as what a demo reel is think of it as an resume, a way of showcasing your talents to get a job or just show off.

  • as someone that just needs to learn the dirt basics of light wave for a short film hes making with his friends, in order to render his ships half decently in layout before his 30 day trial ends, YOU MAKE ME WANNA DIE

    so yeah, cool stuff.

  • Lightwave looks very interesting, especially since im stuck with POS blender and XSI-mod tool right now.

  • @kommandojoe

Lightwave 3D is a really good animation tool. I believe my teacher said it cost $1000 or more. But because I'm her student, the company agreed that all her Animation classes can get it for $180.

  • @HeteroProductions where do you go to school. It costs 800 dollars i plan to buy it

  • @GetMerkedHD

Well, i dont own it. Im a freshman in high school so it was in the computer already

  • @HeteroProductions they have it on your computers at your high school? damn yeah i just torrented mine

  • awesome modelling, but rather weak animations...

  • Amazing you are truely talented. You should definitely contact bungie, ea, or rockstar. I am sure your talented enough to get with any of these companies.

  • es facil de hacer???

  • @sergiklu así es, aprietas un botón y van saliendo los modelos! XP

  • @KelseyLin88 jejejjejej

To the others: it is incredible that there are so many comments about what should be done and what not about this marvellous art-work. It is like they don't deserve to watch this things for they became a kind of jealous for not being able to post their work first!... or even worst, to post their work with so many details and quality.

  • Oh. Wow. uh... I made a snowman in Lightwave once that I was pretty proud of.... but I think this puts it to shame.

  • dude the first one is the original 2-man army concept this guy got a job :[]

  • VERY, VERY IMPRESSIVE STUFF.

  • i think i just cam in my pants. This shit is unbelievable!

  • AMAZING WORK

  • evrytime amasing to see it again :D

  • really good man..

  • i came when i saw the model of the spaceship

  • very awesome i love lightwave.

  • You should work at Bungie, they'd be fools not to hire someone with your talent

  • @DreadnoughtUnofficia or blizzard, or pixar, or ubisoft... he could work for basically anyone with this kind of talent

  • @shrint I would'nt go that far !

  • somebody likes glimmer rats 1:21

  • how did u do the slow motion back-flip

  • Greets to LW user. Cool skills, clean topology. I liked that crab-like tall robot from War of the Worlds/Half-life 2

  • Good job, man!!!

  • my second name is bartkowiak to :D

  • Hey you come to my channel & meet Paul! =D

  • Wish I could have the time to do this. Nice 3d animaton.

  • @NeotRonCorp wishes are worthless. DO IT. Make the time.

  • Nice!

  • only 186 subscribers. i feel for yah man.

  • This is amazing, I just posted my new demo real at the studio channel, you guys, should check it out.

  • nice reel! you should put it up on Viewreels [dot] Ning [dot [com

  • that's Awesome : )..........

  • no niezle...:) ile nad tym wszystkim siedziales? dobra robota:)

  • nice demo reel u got there... good work...

  • really nice, esp like the mats on the ships.

  • How long does it take to make thoose animations?

    Most take ages =)

  • @henriksek a couple of weeks on one piece 3 hours a day ( that's for the average user ).

it is the render time that I am alwasy worried about.

  • @cannoir

Okay, but, is this program hard to learn, or hard to use or anything? looks kinda cool.

  • learning it will take much time but once you know the basic stuff you will be able to grow and finnally make stuff like this

  • @cannoir

Okay, but is this program hard to learn, or hard to use? it looks kinda cool =)

  • Actually a good artist can make one in about a month if you work on it a couple of hours a day that's including the time it takes to make the model once you have the model its actually simple when you understand it

  • looks like original toys, you know, those than don't play, just stay there.

  • That is brilliant!

    Awesome work.

  • you are very talented..i'm starting to model in maya

  • great models but bad animation!

  • amazing men

    I love your models !

    greetings from chile.

  • you're awsome

  • that was brilliant

  • very excellent!!!!

  • Demo reel is awesome! Btw, what's the name of the song / artist?

  • esta muy bien!! buen nivel!! Aunque la BSO la cambiaria, no esta a la altura

  • Muchas Felicidades!!!

  • Brilliant demo reel. I'm just getting into this myself, and it's very inspiring to see what can be down outside of Hollywood's big budget production studios.

  • by far the best work Ive seen from one single person, respect... I hope you make a lot of money with it ;)

  • As a student just starting to work it is really inspiring to see what some people can do with the software I'm using if you know how...AWESOME JOB! hopefully I can get to your level one day

  • omg amazing demoreel, ur a pro at modeling O.o!

and i agree with hendrich 100%, enough criticizing the editing and pay attention to the actual models!

  • the best Demo Reel on youytube sofar

  • HOLY DAMN THAT jedi interceptor is freaking NICE man the wireframe show the real work you did.

  • wow amazing work, A*

  • I have to agree with LONEWOLFX that you seem to have an unnecessary amount of polys on that gun but in general as well. It'd be a simple matter of cleaning up these polys and keeping your models looking good. You've got some great textures going here. When doing turn arounds, make your spins linear. Depending on the software you're using you should be able to composite those turn arounds so that they blend seamlessly together.

  • "When doing turnarounds - make your spins linear" - Look at the work for gods sake, not the editing!

    Amazing Showreel!

  • Hendrich, this is only a critique of the over all reel and is therefore subjective. Any comments made are meant to help make it better. MancubusX I'm sure understands this. I did look and commented on the work first. Polys are way too high, even for next gen games. Great textures. As an employer, the editing was distracting and showed a lack of finality. The ships flying through space are not a great demonstration of animation skills. If the lady in the snow is not mo cap it looks amazing.

  • Yea maybe the poly count is too high ( for games ) but it doesn't say ANYWHERE that is is a games showreel - so 'as an emplyoer', you should have noticed this - to say the editing was distracting is to me very strange - surely this showreel is to demonstrate the modelling/ animation and vfx - not the editing!!

This guy obviously isn't trying to be an editor - In my opinion, your opinion is picking unnececary holes in a fantastic showreel

  • Good one!! good model good textures and everything else!

  • AWESOME demo reel dude!!!! :)

  • Awesome video bro! I'm currently taking a 3d for games course and I can only hope my reel is as good as yours!

Take care are you working now in the industry! I hope so! Great reel and music...

  • AWESOME!

  • nice physics on the ninja lol but great vid awsome characters.

  • Nice Work

  • Nice artwork... so where do u work now?

  • nice and neat reel dude. pro category

  • 1:33 thats a lot of unnecessary poly's on that guys gun.... Further more even more tris. Great model! but, not usable in game.

  • Mate - please, please, please - This guy obviously knows what he's doing - your "showreel" shows NO wireframe views, has a lot of irelevant material and does not show any of your work clearly - Why bother critisising things you don't even show in your own 'reel'

  • i love your video :)

    Please subscribe me thank you..

  • Bravo! keep up the good work!

  • Amazing work, who are you working for now?

  • great work

and name of the song please

  • yeah, really cool demo!! I love the mechanics, robots, and the ninja girl is very cool :)

  • GREAT ..wat program did u use#?

  • Lightwave 3d

  • the best i have ever seen! amazing!

  • awesome work!

  • fantastyczne!!! Gdzie studiowales?

  • I've been taking course in LightWave 3D and animation, but it's in my school so it isn't exactly "deep" and the teacher knows very little.

Probably going to be studying up extra-curricular style and seeing what I can do. Will take some time though :)

    Hopefully I'll be as great at modeling as you some day ^^;

  • Extraordinary models, man!

Congratulations, keep up the great work. :)

  • wow absolutely amazing! my only crit would be to slow down your turnarounds, really let us see what you've done!

  • man that was AMAZING

  • youtube . com / watch?v = Y7Lkr5fjpiE

hey see this too.. amazing offer!! :)

  • Can you please tell me the title of the song.. Thanks!

  • it's written at the end...!

  • Still needs a bit more work, but itès getting there

  • Hehe the second one reminded me of a stryder from Half Life 2 :P

  • waw :o

    nice

  • You are great!

  • you have great work

  • Great modeling mancubus! the smoke effects are awsome too. Are some of those characters from WARHAMMER?

  • cool!

    like quadpod

  • Still quite a bit improvement on some of your renders is needed.

  • I like you animations very much...

I am fascinated at 2:49 it looks very realistic and

    cool
