r u kidding me, put the animation first...if this is a generalist demo reel always put your best stuff first, theres. since this reel is pretty long, theres a chance they didnt make it past a minute. not that is bad but they already think theyve seen your best work. if the animation is first itll keep them more interested to watch more.
@indyisyourhero is it really that hard to read the credits at the end????? I'm not even going to tell you the title, look for it in the credits you lazy bum
Awesome demo reel! I am using LW at my college, but I still have a ways to go to get that good. Great Job! Did you use motion capture for the animation?
Hi there, Which school you were graduate? I just came out of the college, but don't know where to go for 3D program including character modelling, lightning and animation like you did. Please let me know if you could send me an email is great> nguyenthanhtanbk2000@yahoo.com .I'll very appreciate your time in contacting me
Dunno how to ask this but, is it classed as cheating/hiding the fact if your model has low geometry (looks to squarish) and u only apply NURMS sub division in renders to get smoother results can you say it still counts as 1000 polys (for example) instead lets say 3000 polys in renders?
@MarcowaR If he knows his stuff he probably doesn't just have Smoothing groups. And NURMS especially isn't just in games. He's probably got a low poly with a normal map and a series of other maps to make it look like a high poly and detailed.
@AnSiB It was for myself to know :D cause I've been doing that and saying its so many polys but if i rendered it without nurms it's blocky :d (still a learning like) but i'll render with nurms so i get a nice smooth finish. but cheers for the reply. I'm still a newb that still needs to press turbo smooth to make it better lol
@MarcowaR I'm learning too! I was introduced to turbo smoothing by my teacher when i first started using 3dsmax. Now i never touch it. It's just a lot better to add in more edge loops and retopologize to make it a good model. It takes time and practice and i'm sure you'll get it in the end! ;)
Hi, great video! can you do an animation for our new movie. The scene would be about 5-10 seconds. There is pay. Please see our video animation spec deal for more information. Thanks, mark
Hi. im an interested 3d modelling learner, and im wondering if anyone can tell me a free, easy to use modelling program? i practised a bit with the Second life item builder (lol) and did fine modelling in google sketchup, making some pretty interesting things. although ive recently tried to use Blender, and it is ridiculous trying to understand and remember all the different function hotkeys etc..
@YourMumsADouchebag Well, if you're a student, Maya has a twelve month license for free I think. Otherwise, Blender may be your best bet. I can't say it's "easy" but there are tons of tutorials on the internet. I'm not a modeler. I'm an animator, but the best advice I can give would be to start simple and then shoot for more complex things. If you want to learn, let me recommend CG Society. You can post your work there and get critiqued by professionals in the industry. Good Luck!
@cooldude89012 Not sure if mancubusX is going to answer, but I can give you on for now.
Textures, depending on their size can vary when it comes to render time. The bigger it is, the longer it will take because the more it has to calculate when rendering.
Your CPU hits 100% as soon as you start rendering. For example: Mental Ray dosn't care what other applications you use, it uses it all anyway. People I know have fried computers when rendering because of insufficent cooling. Be careful!
@DV7Dave thnks dave but i also have some advice and tips for you did u no blender is more powerful than all the the other engines and now with blender 2,5's unique interface its super easy to work with plus renders in blenders are the best quality the have ever been and it qhwn i render anything with my version it willl stay at 30% cpu and the quality is wow i have to say i dont catr about buying another 3d program when i can get the best for well free
Amazing. I'm using LightWave 3D in my beginning animation and it's hard to make such good models! You are plain amazing. Have you thought about joining a commercial buisness? That's how my teacher started out after college and now is doing Beginning Animation, Advanced Animation and AP Animation ( [A]dvanced [P]lacement... AP)
@IzUalKarbad No question is stupid as long as you don't know the answer, thats how you learn ; >. Anyways as far as what a demo reel is think of it as an resume, a way of showcasing your talents to get a job or just show off.
as someone that just needs to learn the dirt basics of light wave for a short film hes making with his friends, in order to render his ships half decently in layout before his 30 day trial ends, YOU MAKE ME WANNA DIE
Lightwave 3D is a really good animation tool. I believe my teacher said it cost $1000 or more. But because I'm her student, the company agreed that all her Animation classes can get it for $180.
Amazing you are truely talented. You should definitely contact bungie, ea, or rockstar. I am sure your talented enough to get with any of these companies.
To the others: it is incredible that there are so many comments about what should be done and what not about this marvellous art-work. It is like they don't deserve to watch this things for they became a kind of jealous for not being able to post their work first!... or even worst, to post their work with so many details and quality.
