My Father would sing this off pat to our relations, and in the pub. Those that couldn't keep up, or faultered, had to contribute to his Malt Whisky fund. That was back in the earlt/mid 1950s.
My late uncle Fred sang this to me every year on my birthday when i was a little girl gowing up in England. I LOVE IT! It brings back so many good memories.
I now live in the U.S.A. and have played it to my children and Grandchildren, they also love the song.
My father sang this to myself brother and sister and subsequently to his grandchildren. At his funeral at the age of 88 last week this was played. He would have been up there looking down laughing and crying with us. Thanks dad for all the memories. Pauline,Roger and Sarah.
My mother is 88 and her fother bought this record for her as a child and mum and dad sang this with us as children. She moved home last week and the removers broke the record, which has fond memories for s as a family. The other side of the record was Buttercup Joe, any chance that you have a copy of this or know where I can get one.
My father sang this song when I was 5 ( 1955) I never thought I would hear it again. I sat and listened to it with tears in my eyes. It was worth every penny I owned. Thankyou

I relate to that. My mother used to sing it to me. She did it brilliantly, too. Yes. Very moving. I sang it to my kids as well. They still love it
