I've got a question.. What does 1-4-5 position mean?

    Thx!

  • @coolasis Basically what chords he's playing. He said he is in E. E is 1 in the scale, A is 4 in the scale, B is 5th in the scale . :)

  • @ThePatrickSGh That answer's it... Thank you so much!

  • @coolasis No problem :)

  • @coolasis Basically what chords he's playing. He said he is in E. E is 1 in the scale, A is 4 in the scale, B is 5th in the scale . :) It's basically a chord progression

  • in and out? up and down?? deal

  • 1:20 cat tail?

  • Yes he didn't have a drummer because his music was so repetitive that after playing more than 3 of his songs, any drummer would pull their own hair out playing the same click click click beats.

I like Johnny Cash and I played a few of his songs with my brother but after 3 songs I want to put my head through a wall.

I guess the reason my brother is still playing his music TODAY is because he has a drinking & smoking habbit and needs to be buzzed & stoned jamming it.

  • hell yeah! i learned this when i visited sun studios :D

  • Neat trick

  • awesome - shoulda used a hundred

  • shit, i dont have dollars in my contry im fucked!

  • more dollars for better tone lol

  • Yeah just watch Johnny cash walk the line, and it sounds better than yours.

  • I think he had a piece of paper at the nut of the guitar,

  • sorry, but the tennessee three had have a drummer. without a drummer they've been the tennessee two.

but great inspiration anyway. bought me a dollar few minutes ago. :-D

  • @pussymaker82 they had an upright bass player

  • @aitsBRAD oh yes thank you lol :D

  • @pussymaker82 are you sure? Or are you just saying that. Maybe you should do some research first. The original Tenn. 3 was J. Cash, Perkins (guitar) and Grant (bass). Sorry, but you're a bit of a clown.

  • @vdeferens lol freak shut up. i'm the singer of a johnny cash coverband. without a drummer perkins and grant called themself the tennessee two stupid. later with holland they called themself the tennessee three. and cash was not a member of the tennessee three or two retard, he was just johnny cash. together they called "johnny cash and the tennesse two" later with holland "johnny cash and the tennesse three".research lol. if someone is a clown it might be you stupid. figure of joke.

  • @pussymaker82 Ha you're so funny, and so wrong!!!! Heh what a crackup!

  • lol stupid i know it's hard for retards to google. for anyone who has doubts google "tennessee three"

    quote wiki

"The Tennessee Three was the backing band for country music and rockabilly singer Johnny Cash for nearly 25 years, [...]"

"The band began in the mid-1950s as The Tennessee Two, consisting of Cash's friends Luther Perkins on electric guitar and Marshall Grant on upright bass. [...]"

"In 1960, drummer W.S. Holland joined the group, which was then renamed The Tennessee Three. [...]"

  • @pussymaker82 Oh we're duelling with Wikipedia quotes now? OK, how's this: "ORIGINALLY CALLED THE TENNESSEE THREE, Sam Phillips of Sun records suggested that the band be called Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Two."(emph. added). ergo The ORIGINAL Tenn. 3 had no drummer. All apologies will be accepted.

  • that's right. they were 3 in the beginning. but that's not meant here as much as in this video. it's about cash's career from the first record on. their first official appearance with phillips. that's what we might have "noticed" jeffrey brings up in this video, earlier footage etc. further you said cash, perkins and grant were the t 3. you didn't say kernodle, perkins and grant. and that's simply wrong. you thought they've been called the t 3 because of cash, perkins and grant. make my day

  • does a five improve the sound?

  • @mwatland haha yes it does :p nah just joking

  • focus at 1:20 right bottom... i think i see a cat

  • @gotacola152 yes it's a cat :)

  • That was great! Thank you!

  • very funny lesson, dude!

  • We always enjoy this channel. Rock on!

  • Stop it

  • 1:19 CAT TAIL!!!!

  • @BeatlesGuitarPlayer1 well spotted :L

  • lol nice lesson

  • Very cool !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very cool! Thx

  • That was a Cat???????

  • Very interesting trick thanks for posting

  • As a Canadian. I must use at least a five dollar bill.

  • @H057IL3 as a kiwi, i must do the same.

  • Dogs tail @ 1:20 lol

  • Johnny "Cash" get it? :)

  • So thats why they called him Jonny CASH! :O

  • @lockofthedeath Actually it's because his parents named him, Johnny Cash

  • 1:19 IS A DOG AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

  • now you increase the value of your guitar, one buck

  • Johnny Cash puts cash in his guitar, how cool is that!

  • good idea...I used to loosely wrap a lil bit of tin foil around my strings to get a bit of distortion with my acoustic...back then I thought I was innovative....good to know it was done before...in a sense...great vid! ROCK ON!

  • What a cool lesson! I was wondering if you guys can throw out a lesson on that 'Swamp Rock' Bayou-ish dirty blues-country thing. I love the stuff like CCR's 'Green River' but i've got no clue how to play that fast and how to combine the bluesy and the country element to create that unique sound. Thanks for everything so far you guys helped me a lot.

  • you could put a bunch of rattle-snake tails inside your guitar

  • Great idea! After forty years of playing guitar, I had never heard of this. I guess you can teach and old dog new tricks.

  • Doesent work with a creditcard.......

  • I think Cash had the paper at the base of the neck and he didn't play the cords he muted the strings. It sounds a lot more like a snare if you do it this way

  • It looks like acoustic guitar lap dancing!!

  • its funny cuz his name is cash.. xD

  • gj. love it!

  • lol is that a cat 1:18

  • @munkley123 no, an alien from another planet

  • JUST EXELLANT....I m gonna tryit with 10 euros.....thanks....Lets try together "THAHT S ALL RIGHT MAMA"......RAFFI

  • Thanx.

  • It has to be real paper (money is not the same as paper) and you place it on the neck near the nut.

  • no it doesnt sound like a snare it sounded like you had a paper on the strings

  • lol at dog

  • Johnny Cash - I walk the line, first video. There you can see quite good where he put the paper (in that case it's a piece of paper) in his guitar.

But anyhow this trick is worth a lesson, well done!

  • @Onkelz2505 the guitar can not be played with the paper as cash has it. it becomes a drum.

  • @fanzappa

In this version it looks like he uses his guitar as a drum, but I think he could play it. It's drum and guitar in one instrument, that should work.

  • @Onkelz2505 do you play guitar? with the paper in that position the guitar is UNPLAYABLE.

  • @fanzappa

Yep, i play a bit guitar and i noticed you're right. My mistake was, that I tried it with an electric guitar. Then I tried it with my old acoustic guitar and that's indeed impossible.

With an electric guitar it seems possible to use the guitar as a guitar and a drum at once. But that would be also difficult, because you can't hear the fictitious drum through the amp.

  • @fanzappa Umm... Ofcourse it's playable he plays it that way. I would suggest that people who can't get the sound right put the piece of paper/dollar on first few frets of the fretboard. That way the strings you don't play are slightly muted and the ones you don't are clear. It works better for me.

  • @boko97 did you look at the vid? he is NOT playing the guitar. he is srtruming the open strings, making it a percussion instrument. how cah the strings be fretted with paper between the strings?

  • @fanzappa lol Yeah i though he frets it too but now that i got a good look at it he doesn't. Sorry bout that. But still it seems more effective to me to play it that way although you dont have access to the first few frets.

  • @boko97 HOW CAN YOU PLAY A GUITAR W/O ACCESS TO THE "FIRST FEW FRETS"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @fanzappa Umm... You only play the higher frets?

  • @boko97 you are an idiot. if one plays higher than the paper, one will not get the effect. you are surely a moron...

  • @fanzappa Are you fuckin stupid or what? I EXPLAINED IT IN ONE OF MY PREVIOUS COMMENTS SMARTASS. Yes, it's not the same effect but instead the only strings that have the effect are the ones you don't fret and the other ones sound clean. So don't call me a moron and swear at me when i explained it and you couldn't get it.

  • @boko97 who swore, asswipe?

  • @boko97 YOU USED THE WORD "FUCKIN'"...I DID NOT...YOU are A MORON...

  • @boko97 how many chords do you strum above the 4th fret that are not barre chords?

  • @boko97 you only play ABOVE the 4th fret????????????

  • @fanzappa Well yeah but you can place the paper/dollar so that you can play the 4 fret too and if you're using paper you can make it really not wide( scuse me for the languge) and can play the 3 fret too but that takes up a little of the sound.

  • @boko97 how long do you wanna' argue the stupid details. a guitar cannot be played PROPERLY/NORMALLY like that. JUST ADMIT IT!!!!!

  • @fanzappa -.- Yeah you can't play a shitload of chords but it can be played and for me it's better. And i don't know what your understanding of properly playing guitar is.

  • @boko97 "better" than WHAT? what are you talking about? if you do not understand what "properly playing the guitar" is, i'm done with you. (see above: re: moron, idiot, asswipe.)

  • @fanzappa Well from what i understand your "properly playing the guitar" is playing a bunch of open chords is that right? And WTF is your problem? Seriously. It gives me the sound i want and i shared it because maybe some people will like it too. Deal with it. You know not everybody has the same opinion as you and you obviously don't get that wich concludes that you don't have the rights to call me an idiot. Please STFU now.

  • @boko97 your sentence structure (syntax) is as weak as your understanding of guitar playing...

  • @boko97 again, you are swearing, abet, in an acronym. you were mad before when i did not even do it.

  • @boko97 do you have another vid where ie is fretting the guitar with the paper?

  • @boko97 we are talking about cash, not this vid.

  • you rock

  • this makes some freak ass faces

  • Epic meal time

  • @ariffsuffianzainal are epic

  • @ariffsuffianzainal i love epic meal time, but why post that here????

  • @joel2ksweet Because it's the first comment, and I needed something epic to say haha
