  • good pictures and music, but the science behind the idea is flawed. jupiter is not massive enough to create a fusion reaction. also if it got close to the sun, if would not "ignite" in the sense that it would not become a star. Rather, it would be devoured by the sun, and the gas that once made up jupiter, will be used as fuel to fuel more reactions in the core of the sun

  • @blitz7341 the science doesn't matter as much when the subject in question is preceded by a "what if" and so therefore the science in mute in the real world. "what if" is the basis of every science fiction novel in existence. "what if" means "normally this would never happen, but THIS is what I think MIGHT happen IF it did" and basicall means "that in the absence on facts to the contrary, this is happening anyway". I doubt highly that IF Jupiter ignited we would feel many differences.
