I'm not a big Bond fan so the few of these I've actually seen I haven't really liked, but this has been the best out of the ones I've seen. And although Halle is gorgeous I don't think she would actually win a fight against the girl from Fracture. But this movie is entertaining and I like the ice hotel they stay in, I wonder if that place is real or not.
I think the worst Bond films were Quantum of Solace and Tomorrow Never Dies. DAD suffered from major Michael Bay syndrome, but its plot still solid movie Bond. Contrary to popular opinion, I think Brosnon's only bad Bond was TND, Goldeneye resuscitated the franchise and added political over and undertones, and TWINE was good except for Denise Richard's performance (or lack thereof) TND suffered from silly and cartoonish directing, script and characters (including the worst Bond villain)
-Not to mention QOS not only ruined Bond's character, but as a movie it was all over-the-top action with little to know plot, and the wee amount of plot that was there was all over the place. As for the Aston Martin : the technology is there and has been applied to an entire tank by the U.S. military (not surprising considerig they are the best.) Those of you who dont know this are simply ignorant.

@TequilaAssassin4eva Well I agree the CGI is lame but I think this one is rather fun and entertaining. As for Craig I think Casino Royale is one of the best but Im just hoping the Bond franchise goes back to basics now.
@KISSarmyGuy Casino Royale was a good film...they adapted many of the classic Bond roots and put it together nicely. Definitely a huge step up from Brosnan's last feature...I knew it was garbage the moment they revealed the satellite was to become a giant weapon (just like EVERY other film), and the gadgets were way overdone....a 3,600lb car that can disappear?! That's over-exaggerated beyond reason. The script dialogue was real heavy on innuendo...enough to make you gag, seriously.

I think my biggest problem with this movie is Halle Berry's performance. Now when I first heard she was going to be the Bond girl in this, I thought it was going to be awesome--but I was so wrong. I don't know what happened here, but her dialogue and the delivery of it is just terrible. What's supposed to be sultry, flirty conversation between Jinx and Bond just comes out terribly awkward, really bringing the pace of the movie to a halt every time it comes up.
Having read several of Fleming's books I don't buy that Craig is the closest to the original character. Fleming "apparently" wanted David Niven in the role of Bond - someone who was eligant, sophisticated and a gentleman. While CR was great QoS was a dull mess to be bruitally honest. Brosnan was a great Bond let down by cheesey material half the time.
Btw the closest to Fleming is Dalton with a dash of early Connery.

Agree with you 100% on the Craig movies. I love Craig's bond because its a gritter more realistic take on the character, but his second movie was horrible because unlike CR, QOS didn't just reinvent Bond, it had no resemblance to Bond whatsoever
As for Dalton, I think he was a fine Bond, similar to Craig his Bond was more serious and popular with fans of the books, he had the misfortune of having half his movies be a bit to gritty though. I loved The Living Daylights, probably the most underrated Bond film in the franchise and series, but I didn't care for LTK that much.
invisible cars? no fucking way... pierce boring, old, too light. daniel's better bond than pierce, closer to the real character, fights better, more dynamic... with brosman, james bond movies where a "only if there isn't anything else" option for me.
with craig, james bond became to me a must own, and cant wait for bond 23 :)

I like Pierce but he was saddled with awful scripts after Goldeneye, and for some reason decided to make Bond humorless..even with the campiness surrounding him..which is a shame because he has excellent comic timing.

Of course Connery had his style. I think all the Bond agents are good, but Connery had his style. Craig is a more dangerous Bond than ever, cause he even doesn´t care that the women in his life are dead, but surely he does too in some ways, in his style. There will never be a "perfect" Bond though, all i wish for is for Craig to do 7 more Bond movies, in a couple of years...

probably the worst james bond ever. although Tomorrow never dies comes close...sucks for Brosnan that he got such shit scripts to work with other than Goldeneye (and to a much lesser extent WINE). The only good thing about this film is the beginning which I thought was pretty good
this film could have killed the franchise...an invisible car, a Korean villain who turns into an Englishman, the ludicrous laser battle in Graves' Icelandic base, the ridiculous M16 simulator test, Bond's waterboard escape from the Icarus beam thanks to dodgy CGI and to top it all off the disastrous cameo by Madonna...not to mention her truly awful title song. A low in a glorious series
it was amazing how fast pierce brosnan fell. when goldeneye came out it was epic, i honestly did think he was the best bond ever, then we had a good yet inferior sequel in tomorrow never dies, then the world is not enough which was 'meh' at best. then die another day which was just a parody. then the series got rebooted and, i know i am in the minority but i don't like the rebooted films. they just feel like jason bourne but without likable characters....shame
Well, I enjoyed Casino Royale, as it still felt like Bond while also having a different feel than the rest of the series, but I share your sentiments when it comes to everything else in your post (with the exception of Brosnan being the best Bond. Connery is and always will be the best Bond in my eyes).

At least golden gun and moonraker had John Barry soundtracks and both good action sequences ... (freefall in moonraker is fantastic with the contemporary bond theme blasting across cinemas)

@Slotten68 Barry has never received anything (award wise) but recognition and acclaim for his Bond scores (although OHMSS seriously deserved - however he won the oscar that same year for Born Free - first British composer ever to win an oscar)... he later won for other films like Out/Africa and Dances/Wolves... he even makes an appearance in a Bond film, end scene as the conductor of the orchestra in Living Daylights. Thunderball was the epitome of the "bond sound" and DAF gunbarrel is the best
I think James Bond movies should be somewhat outlandish but still kept in the realms of reality (just around the corner). Really a James Bond movie is made out a few ingredients: The English charm the unbelievable extravagate plot to take over the world but still a possible reality, the bond gadgets white the bond car, the drink that defines him and of course the bond girl. White out this a bond movie is nothing more than an ACTION movie as shown white the latest Bond movie series.
the problem with the pierce brosnan films was that they started brilliantly with ''Goldeneye'' however each following film tried to out do the last by being more action packed and outlandish and by ''Die Another Day'' it had became a parody of what it should have been. however i have been dissappointed with the daniel craig films. ''Casino Royale'' was such an underwhelming movie and ''Quantum of Solace'' was not a bond film, it should have been called ''The Bond Ultimatum'' after jason bourne.
Pierce Brosnan was a great Bond. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. This movie however was not great by any means. You can only do so much with what you are given to work with. Two of his movies were great, one ok , this one just awful. Sad way to end a great actor's run as Bond. The film had such potential but lost it mid way through. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted at least.

The problem with this movie is it was too far fetched. Brosnan did nothing wrong, it was dreadful direction, as it was an anniversary party which went badly wrong, too much pastiche with little substance, it could in the hands of one of the classic Bond film directors have worked brilliantly, sadly it was not, however the Hong Kong sequence was the best, and that was why I can still enjoy this on a very minimal level.

I like Pierce but he was saddled with awful scripts after Goldeneye, and for some reason decided to make Bond humorless..even with the campiness surrounding him..which is a shame because he has excellent comic timing.

Of course Connery had his style. I think all the Bond agents are good, but Connery had his style. Craig is a more dangerous Bond than ever, cause he even doesn´t care that the women in his life are dead, but surely he does too in some ways, in his style. There will never be a "perfect" Bond though, all i wish for is for Craig to do 7 more Bond movies, in a couple of years...

@MrD6M6K6 yeah have to give you this point but i don't know for me he is too much action hero, they could have put a character like flemmings bond into a more subtile movie, because quantum of solace was just a long fucking chase. the whole movie! For me it has nothing to do with that typical british MI6 Agent charme or style.

@abk1ng just not right. bond is a gentleman. daniel craig made bond to a Bruce Willis kinda tough guy. look at the fuckin quantum movie poster. a guy with a big machine gun a nearly ripped off bloody shirt and bruises in his face. THAT has nothing to do with the classical Walther PPK using, looking smooth, typical british James Bond. I want a Bond movie which plays only in Great Britain without too much action.

probably the worst james bond ever. although Tomorrow never dies comes close...sucks for Brosnan that he got such shit scripts to work with other than Goldeneye (and to a much lesser extent WINE). The only good thing about this film is the beginning which I thought was pretty good

this film could have killed the franchise...an invisible car, a Korean villain who turns into an Englishman, the ludicrous laser battle in Graves' Icelandic base, the ridiculous M16 simulator test, Bond's waterboard escape from the Icarus beam thanks to dodgy CGI and to top it all off the disastrous cameo by Madonna...not to mention her truly awful title song. A low in a glorious series

it was amazing how fast pierce brosnan fell. when goldeneye came out it was epic, i honestly did think he was the best bond ever, then we had a good yet inferior sequel in tomorrow never dies, then the world is not enough which was 'meh' at best. then die another day which was just a parody. then the series got rebooted and, i know i am in the minority but i don't like the rebooted films. they just feel like jason bourne but without likable characters....shame

Well, I enjoyed Casino Royale, as it still felt like Bond while also having a different feel than the rest of the series, but I share your sentiments when it comes to everything else in your post (with the exception of Brosnan being the best Bond. Connery is and always will be the best Bond in my eyes).

I grew up with Bronsnan as Bond, whether it was video games or the movies, he's probably my favorite Bond next to Daniel Craig. (Casino Royale is my favorite Bond movie next to Goldeneye and Die Another Day)

@KulvirG so then what makes him bring the realism to his movies, have you ever even read any of the books james bond is supposed to be a brutefull kind of guy, kill first ask questions later, thats the way he is in the books or at least casino royal and craig pulls that off perfectly. but thats not to say that i didnt like the brosnan bond i was just saying that there were some stupid moments like the ones i mentioned. personally i think roger more had some of the most unrealistic stuff in it

@JessOnTheRun Spy Who Loved Me was Roger's best movie and in my top 5. Man w/GG was iffy, Moonraker sucked pretty bad. View coulda been decent had Roger not been 3534 years old and it did have Walken in it...
But no, I still think Die another Day is the worst of all time. The invisible car, the giant wave surfing scene, I mean it took everything that made Bond movies great and just put a weiner in its face. Just awful. Id watch Moonraker 3 times to avoid watching just the trailer again

@Slotten68 Ive always been partial to Eyes Only as Moore's best Bond in the series... also one of the best films in the series. At least golden gun and moonraker had John Barry soundtracks and both good action sequences ... (freefall in moonraker is fantastic with the contemporary bond theme blasting across cinemas)
but yes, Die Another was beyond silly & ridiculous, the 3D bullet through the gunbarrel sort of set the tone...did like the capture and tortue of bond in the beginning, very Fleming

@JessOnTheRun The music does set the tone in a big way. Barry does great in the flicks hes in, and yeah he might have been the only good thing about Star War... I mean Moonraker. I think he was nominated for the Golden Globe for my favorite Bond movie of all time, From Russia With Love.
its unfortunate that Brosnan didnt have better flicks to work with becuase his suave style fit really well with the 'new Bond' persona. Im hoping that Craig doesnt follow suit & make 1 good then 3 bad movies

@Slotten68 Barry has never received anything (award wise) but recognition and acclaim for his Bond scores (although OHMSS seriously deserved - however he won the oscar that same year for Born Free - first British composer ever to win an oscar)... he later won for other films like Out/Africa and Dances/Wolves... he even makes an appearance in a Bond film, end scene as the conductor of the orchestra in Living Daylights. Thunderball was the epitome of the "bond sound" and DAF gunbarrel is the best

I think James Bond movies should be somewhat outlandish but still kept in the realms of reality (just around the corner). Really a James Bond movie is made out a few ingredients: The English charm the unbelievable extravagate plot to take over the world but still a possible reality, the bond gadgets white the bond car, the drink that defines him and of course the bond girl. White out this a bond movie is nothing more than an ACTION movie as shown white the latest Bond movie series.

the problem with the pierce brosnan films was that they started brilliantly with ''Goldeneye'' however each following film tried to out do the last by being more action packed and outlandish and by ''Die Another Day'' it had became a parody of what it should have been. however i have been dissappointed with the daniel craig films. ''Casino Royale'' was such an underwhelming movie and ''Quantum of Solace'' was not a bond film, it should have been called ''The Bond Ultimatum'' after jason bourne.

Pierce Brosnan was a great Bond. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. This movie however was not great by any means. You can only do so much with what you are given to work with. Two of his movies were great, one ok , this one just awful. Sad way to end a great actor's run as Bond. The film had such potential but lost it mid way through. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted at least.

i dont see why all of you are talkin shit about daniel craig. he is the best bond since sean connery. craig and connery's versions of bond are the closest to the original books. this version of bond is almost a 180 of what the books are about. brosnan wasnt bad, but craig and connery blow him away.....

Brosnan = Looks and moves, Sean = perfect acting & moves but no looks for the ladies, Timothy = regular actor, George Lazendy = dont like em that much, he's a good actor tho but sometimes cheesy, Roger Moore, good moves but too cheesy, and Daniel... i dont like em, he just doesn't fit, i mean dont get me wrong he has the moves but he's just not the right one.

The problem with this movie is it was too far fetched. Brosnan did nothing wrong, it was dreadful direction, as it was an anniversary party which went badly wrong, too much pastiche with little substance, it could in the hands of one of the classic Bond film directors have worked brilliantly, sadly it was not, however the Hong Kong sequence was the best, and that was why I can still enjoy this on a very minimal level.
