I heard it again today, someone telling me that a college degree in a good field is necessary to get a job. Good grades and a popular degree is the path to success! Wrong. Want to go to college and study what you like, while using the experience to learn analytical thinking? You won't get a job that way, say the lemmings. Many people are willing to sacrifice their financial futures for a college education and the promise of a good job. A university was not meant to be a path to employment!
What Inflation.Us fails to understand is the U.S. government subsidy to college institution decreases discount rate which makes it economically safe for students to go to college. The fact is investing in Human Capital increase Net present value over the course of the student life because of increased health care values, and surprise is caused by college graduates degree.
The problem of student debt is very real. Back in the 60s, I went to college (CUNY) for FREE. We were admitted both on merit (grades) and potential (SAT scores,) and KNEW (as did our parents) we were getting a great deal. If there were such policies today, the student debt problem would not exist. It makes sense, in terms of productivity, to go back to those standards and costs.
We need programs and jobs for those who DON'T need college. Fuck. Who REALLY needs college?
We need to remove the unncessary requirements & standards limiting the fliexibility we can pursue to acheive our dreams & drive up costs
We need to ditch the system that makes education stressful through huge lecture classes, constant note taking, memorizing useless facts & long work
We need to judge people's education by how the suceed in the future & what they do in the real world instead of useless degrees & grades. SUBSCRIBE
The main problem with the United States and it's citizens is not college or jobs, the problem is debt. America borrows for everything, school, homes, cars, furniture, everything!!!!! This obsession with borrowing and debt must stop!!! Why? Because of the global economy called GLOBALISM!!!! The only way America will have a chance to compete in the global economy is to get out of debt and stay out of debt.
@Lloyd998 Very Stupid. This just shows what type of society we are in and what they really care about. "The love for money is the root of all evil." - God.
@XxGothSpikeXx I really can't say to be honest... They're keeping the truth from us all though. Even when I try visiting the nia website, google warns me saying it's a malware infested site lol. As if they're trying to take all your personal information. So sad... but I wish I could help D: I really do =/
Time magazine's article is another propaganda? Fastest way to climb up the socioeconomic ladder? are they sure? Crazzyy.
I think this does not only apply in the USA, it happens here in the Philippines too. Only we're living in a third world country. Imagine the difficulty.
Education is the engine of social mobility, and it's puttering. Americans have two options: improve their schools or accept a lower standard of living... Education is and always has been the fastest way up the socioeconomic ladder. And the payoff for good education remains evident even in this week recovery. The unemployment rate for college graduates is just 4%, but for high school dropouts it is 14%.

@archimedes92 Our unemployment is at an all time high bro, what country you living in? Education used to be used as a way to climb the ladder, but elitist and special income groups have put their dirty little fingers all over our legal system, making almost impossible to climb. We're getting paid less than we were back in 1970, because of inflation. This whole situation is larger than you could even hope to understand with a couple of inaccurate statistics.
@SmokeAlexOut I'm in a sociology class, and UE is closer to 20% for the entire country because statistics like that don't count people on any form government aid as unemployed. I used to believe you needed education to raise the socioeconomic ladder, until i started my own home business with no degree and make more money than 3 of my buddy's who have jobs. I work about 2 hours a week if that. It's about being clever and capitalizing on opportunity.
'they brainwash you from a kid up' ' you dont know how to think because theyve taught you how to think they're way' - first of all whose to say this so called college consipracy isnt doing the same you dont get anythink in life for free no one ever has, anybody ou there who expects everything to fall into place without work is a fool and will get nowhere as they have no drive if you want something that much your'll get it, but youve got to want it as much as you want oxygen when you cant breathe
@PassionateGeordie All true, but I do think that their is an ideological ignorance behind the education system. I think that the people that run these board don't realize that they are training one type of mind. Students can't be unique and learn because they are forced to look at words all day. Not I'm not even going to talk about the teachers.
@PassionateGeordie That's a lie what about people who win the lottery? Or Mitt Romney? That guy just bought companies with his loads of cash and liquidated everything, made millions doing that. Sounds pretty easy to me, while everyone else has their head up their ass thinking protestant ethic still exists. Did the Egyptian pharaohs work hard building their tombs, monuments, and pyramids? Or did they find someone else to do it? Hint: They got lower class citizens to do it. Your theory is flawed.
This video is absolutely true. Members of the elite class use the system to turn people into debt slaves. I know this because I am a member of a secret society called GIN. Like other societies like the Illuminati,Masons, etc we are taught the true secrets to success. That is why most rich people throughout history have been society members. We are also given inside info on things like the school system. If you are interested in learning more call at 4043242450 or email at bhargavpatel60@yahoo.com
