  • Belle belle!!!

  • They don't highlight the English words as they are played.

  • This was one of the first songs I ever learned in Japanese. I forgot it, but just hearing it brought it back. Glad I found this.

  • ; w ; Aaaaw, I remember this song! My mom used to sing it a lot to put me to sleep as a child. It's a shame that my mom doesn't sing it anymore.

This lullaby always makes me appreciate having a home and a family and it always made me feel safe and at peace. And of course, it always moves me to tears!

  • That is heart-rendingly beautiful.

    Thank you.

  • Watashi wa kotoba nashi ni sore o shitte iru

  • Yoi yoi

Ano yama koete, Sato e itta.

Sato no miyage ni, Nani morouta?

Den-den taiko ni, Shō no fue.

  • this makes it so much easier to sing in japanes cos its slower rather than most jap music where u dont understand anything

  • Is it normal to tear up with this lullaby? its very beautiful....the way she sings its is just so moving. =)

  • so you pronounce ぼ as ご, and the つ in つた is silent?? i wish there was romanji along with the hiragana and katakana to see if i am pronouncing it right... :C

  • @JournaloftheWiccan ぼ is bo. ご = go. The small つ (っ) makes a small pause. Like in 立って: tatte.

  • Now I just have to memorize this by Wednesday.

  • i like the version in AIR tv more :P

  • Sleep my baby, Sleep my lovely Close your eyes, my baby. You are such a good baby Sleep my darling sleep Wheres your nanny? Where's she gone. over the mountains she has traveled to her parents home... As a souvenir from her home town. tell my what she game you darling, a small rattle drum and a small bamboo flute

  • baby is aka-chan right?in japanese is there any other term of akachan?

  • @yuihoriemsh i thought that there was also 'akambou'

    i'm not sure though ^-^

  • @XAnimeDollX yes "Akanbou" is another word for baby but watch out for the "mb" < that is an impossibility in the Japanese language

  • @VinnytheFox ah thanks for correcting me :)

  • every time I hear it I almost cry :) Thanks!

  • Beautiful song! I had only listened to an instrumental version of this until now! Who is the singer?

  • Wow this is really good congrats"!!!

  • i want to download the song ,where can i find it and who is the singer ?

  • woooh is an aswsome sonnnnngggg!!!

  • froufroulover4's friend... where's the rest of the song? :( i wish the whole song was here... a whatever, at least they have furigana for people who cant read kanji

  • @froufroulover4 furigana?

  • @lalani1026 furigana, sometimes known as ruby, is hiragana added over kanji that says how to read it. furiganga is mostly supposed to be a reading aide for kids who can't read the kanji yet, but it comes in handy with not native speakers.

  • @NekoMimi03 ohhh ok thanks.. i just didnt know what it was called :P

  • This is a little creepy.. I love it! :D

  • You rule!

I've been trying to find songs in Kana or youtube instead of romanji and its been proving quite difficut for me.

Thank you so much for posting it!

  • I was just surfing for some relaxing music, found this, and now I've got some watery eyes, gosh.

  • i wish i was born Japanese :(

  • @kitsunegyrl15 me too :(

  • NAME OF SONG!!!

  • @ryanscool2008 Edo no Komoriuta

  • @ryanscool2008 The name of the song is "Edo No Komoriuta", or "Edo Lullaby".

  • @ladysevsnape ok, thanks. i knew it was something like that! :P lol

  • ok random question, but why do they put the kana on top of the kanji? instead wouldnt it just be easier to use the kana instead in the first place?

  • @anime1lvr so that the students, both the foreign and themselves can learn the kanji by relating the sound to it. Some kanji are really difficult to learn/read, and even Japanese newspapers and magazines sometimes use it. It's called furigana.

  • Romanized Japanese Nen-nen korori yo, Okorori yo. Bōya wa yoi ko da, Nenne shina~ Bōya no omori wa, Doko e itta? Ano yama koete, Sato e itta. Sato no miyage ni, Nani morouta? Den-den taiko ni, Shoo no fue. English translation Hushabye Hushabye! My good Baby Sleep! Where did my boy's baby-sitter go? Beyond that mountain back to her home. As a souvenir from her home what did you get? A toy drum and a shoo flute
