Originally it was an Australian version. Recorded in America in1959 by Lucky Starr and later by Hank Snow in 1962, which was a number one hit for Hank. Johnny's version is the best. Johnny never killed anyone and he did not serve time in Folsom Prison. He performed for the prisoners there.
