  • Hey Roxanne! I just got my Ben Nye in (just in time for Mechacon and CATS in Tennessee!) And I noticed, you put on the baby powder and some water after different 'coats'. Should I do this too for my Bomba and Deme? Add powder after the first base and etc? Lovely makeup too! Hopefully my attempts in makeup can become as good!

  • @Scarlettequeen13579 This is one of those "it's different for everyone" things, I think. I used to set between both layers of oil-based paints, but if I were doing that today, I'd just set once, at the very end. Or, do the base, set, and then do all of the details with water-based paint. I think the best thing would be to practice painting and powdering yourself, and see what works best for you!

  • so, this is by far the best Broadway Demeter Make up I have ever seen, could halloween creme make up be used. :)

  • @JasonCollago309 I don't see why not, but it will take some practice to get them to cooporate. Halloween makeup is hit and miss as far as quality - usually miss.

  • this is great :) how long did it take you to do?

  • This is great! After remembering about my all time videoed anything, Cats this week I became obsessed with it XD (again for the 15ish time lolzz) I want to be Demeter for Halloween this year so this helps Immensely :) how much does Ben Nye Creme color cost usually? It looks fun to use

  • @Nyrahd, Ben Nye Creme color is quite fun to use, it's got a really smooth, creamy consistancy. I get mine from Alconeco . com, but I know others who use stagesupply . com with success. You're looking at about $4.50 per .25oz pot (lasts quite a while!) at stagesupply, $5 at alcone, and no idea right now how the shipping differs.

If you're interested in costume how-tos, I totally recommend theccdb.com (the cats costuming discussion board). It's a pretty active forum setting with helpful folks.

  • I think theyre way to hard on killing sound tracks for make up vids, okey that you dont own the score but its should be seen as a part off a performance or something.

Lovely work, Roxeanne, it always looks so pro on theese vids (as compared to my skils anyway^^) Johan/Profetikus.

  • amazing...and look simple lol

  • Gay WMG greedy fucks.

  • Great job. You and other people I see doing these vids make it look so easy. I wish I was better at make up so I could do that for my white tiger costume.

  • Wow, beautiful work :)

  • Fabulous work! You are a gifted makeup artist. That you can still look so pretty and feminine while embodying your character is a tribute to your work. My boyfriend and I would love to see more of these characters; please give us more and thank you for sharing them with us!

  • when you purchase a cd you own the copyright, fair use say's you can then use it for whatever you want and give it away free, to infiniti. wmg is violating this persons freedom of speech by saying she cannot use it. This greed only prevents another person from experiencing the music and possibly even purchasing it. so everybody looses, because wmg thinks they have the right to enforce somthing that is not law as being enforced by a non government entity.

  • I think you are a little confused...I worked for an intellectual property attorney..copy right is not given to you just because you buy a cd..if I buy a Disney dvd that has mickey mouse on it I do not own the copy rights to him (ie I can't give other people permission to use his image). Freedom of speech has nothing to do with blocking music on you tube...it has to do with the right to speak out against the government...

  • PS I Do agree that wmg is a pain in the neck as I have had vids taken down cause of them but sadly, they are the copy right owners which means they get to decide how and where and why a song may or may be reproduced.

  • read the fair use act. when you purchase a piece of music it's yours to redistribute as long as you don't charge. you sound like a corporate shill when you say what you said. wmg has no rights over how you use your individual copy.

  • I am very familiar with the fair use act. When you purchase a cd you may use for personal use such as your home cd player or your car. No where does it say you may broad cast it over the internet. I was just correcting you because your information was wrong and you were trying to present it as fact. Audio blocking on here...is because of WMG copy rights or rights to reproduce a song, movie, character etc. Just because you buy a cd does not give you the right to distribute the music.

  • BOMBSHELL Demeter!!

  • What are you using for the black detail and the white highlight? I am doing all of the makeup for CATS at a high school in a few weeks, and I am planning to order the makeup from Ben Nye tomorrow. Hopefully, with the help of your video, my work will turn out ok!

  • very pretty! it looks so professional at the end.

  • Ok here's your fish , ming ming!!!

  • wow mad skill!!

  • that's amazing! good job!

  • space. the final frontier.

these are the voyages of the star trek enterprise. it's five year mission.

and so on and so forth.

i must say, i really enjoy your taste in music, not so much the musical.

  • Awesome!

  • are you using greasepaint? because that has to be set with powder.

makeup advice please. can i substitute whatever you're using with face paint? im planning to dress up as a cat(Jemima) for this gig i have and i want to spend as little as possible

  • She does set it with powder.

    Around 1:18

  • hey roxanne!

    its muslix from ccdb

could you do a jemima make-up? thats my next costume and all the pictures of jemima that i find are the stupid "skin color showing throughy" kind XD

i would really really appreciate it *makes puppy eyes*

  • Ohmygosh, that looks like way too much fun

  • Hey your really good! I'm in CATS opening in a week and my cat is Tan and brown with orange highlights. Got any advice?

  • Hey, nice work on the face painting, you look awesome!. I kinda need some help. I'm in a show in a month and i need to paint my face like a lion, do you have any advice on colours/ base colours/ design ideas and detailing for a lion? Well done again, Thanks Charlie x

  • Remember the next time you do this to wear a button up shirt so you can easily take it off, and not mess up make up if you want to use this for something.

  • your linear sense is outstanding! fantastic!

  • In this video, I used Ben Nye creme color liners for the base and Snazaroo cake makeup for the details. The Ben Nye is oil-based, so water doesn't break it down - you need something with oil in it to effectively remove it. The water based paint, naturally, comes off easily with water unless you do something to set it.

  • DDDEEEEMMMMMMIIIIII!!

    Whai thank you. ^^

    ~Demactica

  • wow lucky her...her lips are small mine are big and full so that probably wouldn't look good on me

  • Buen trabajo, tienes talento.

  • The music was funny, especially Star Wars and Doctor Who. I loved the makeup too! Looks Wicked.

  • This is so great! If I ever am in Cats, one of the characters I would be pleased in playing would be Demeter, so this was very interesting! I laughed out loud when different sound effects appeared on the screen while playing the Batman theme! Ha!

    Keep up the good work!!!

  • I've seen your work on the CATS fourms and it's really wonderful. This was fun to watch but one tiny tiny suggestion. When you add the words don't add them directly over your face, put them at the bottom like some of the others. Other than that this was great.

    Tigress

  • If the program gave me a choice, the words would be in better places. =P Windows Movie Maker is all I've got.

  • I use Windows Movie Maker too and I find that by setting the font size to the smallest one and using 'Subtitle' (found in the one-line options for titles/credits) usually helps. :)

Personally the writing doesn't annoy me. It made me smile and made the eight minutes go faster. But I understand how it might peeve some people =^.^=

  • Oh wow!

I've always been curious about the make up from cats, and that's really neat to watch.

I'm looking for make up ideas for Halloween this year as I'm going as the Cheshire Cat, and what better to get inspiration from..? Cats!

    Thanks for posting this Roxanne!

  • Somebody is the cats meow. Nice job I laughed for a bit when the Star Trek song came on, you were working on the eyebrows and thought of Spock

  • when are you going to put new photos on your website? im dieing to see more!

  • what kind of make up are you using? is it special fx?

  • It's a theatrical makeup by Ben Nye (creme color liners). Oil-based, so it takes oil to remove (not just soap and water), but they have a wonderful consistancy and with a bit of practice are very workable. =)

  • wow that must have taken ages! very good!

  • WOW! I love your website!

  • What type of make up is good for blending? I need to know!

  • It depends on what you're comfortable using. Check out my website at fp.roxanne597(dot)com for some makeup tips. =)

  • ok, thanx!

  • you shouda come and do make up for the cats play that i was in (with my lame little theater group).

  • I'm sure I would have loved to. =) I've had the chance before to help out with a theatre group putting on CATS, and it was one of the most wonderful opportunities.

  • you did sure a good job you have a talent!!

  • omg dr.who music

  • are you really in CATS?

  • Sadly, no. I admit that I would be thrilled to ever have that opportunity, but as things are, it would seem unlikely.

  • Wow, you must be good with your hands.

  • where did u get all ofthe makeup from!?!? :¬)

  • There's a local shop that carries a few good makeup brands, but when I need something they don't carry, I go to Snazaroo dot com or alconeco dot com =)

  • That is awesome!! But I suck at broadway makeup. lol

  • I just love the makeup! Silly question...Do you know how to do some Cirque Du Soleil Character makeup like you do with CATS?

  • I've never tried, but I fell in love with the show (Cirque) when I saw it in Orlando. Maybe something to try later on.

  • POW!

  • nice mix!

  • thats amazing

i think u wud make a great make up artist x

  • play that country tuba, cowboy! lovely make up. you must be practiced, it was awesome!

  • YouTube is an amazing thing. Thanks so much for thinking to share something like this! Can't wait to see the other faces.

  • what's the name of the snaaazzy piano song playing at around 3:10?

  • It's the Charlie Brown theme music by Vince Guaraldi.

  • Y the Doctor Who and Star Wars music?? lol luvvin ur vid hunni xxx

  • You are very appealing, you know!

  • live long and prosper...... meow..

  • Great makup job!!! Love the soundtrack!!!

  • Oh how fun! Cats is definitely a fun show for a makeup artist, and i love the look of your Demeter! Pretty pretty!

  • Great job, mate! If only someone in my neighbourhood was as talented as you in makeup, maybe my school could organize a CATS musical some day... Pity it'll never happen, though..

  • how long have you been doing this?

  • oh, forgot to say how much i love the final job of the makeup!

  • Another triumph. Cutie! lol

  • Could you turn yourself into a sexy clown?

  • I love your sense of humor. ^_^

An awesome makeup and video, thank you very much!

    (By the way, it's WxO)

  • Your eyebrows -are- Spock-ish (or they were at first). XD

And for the 'added color with waterbased paint,' what brand did you use?

  • The powdered bit is all Ben Nye creme color liners (white, goldenrod, and coral I think), and everything else is Kryolan Aquacolors (the dark red, however, is snazaroo)
