Apropos my previous comment, the steering engine is a small vertical cylinder type with mechanical arrangement like an Alley & Maclellan "Sentinel", but was by a different manufacturer, probably Canadian.
This looks a great deal like the authentic engine used in the filming of "The Sand Pebbles"--it was set up in a sound stage in LA and run with compressed air. It still exists. So cool to see one under steam.
What a shame the film crew couldn't borrow or rent a noise-canceling microphone. We can hardly understand a word the engineer is saying. I would love to tour this boat - the engine looks beautiful!
Yeah sorry about that, no film crew, just a 7 meg digital camera with simple 640x480 VGA video to SD card. So no WINDSOCKS or ZEPPLINS on this 1st attempt.
Master, never mind the fancy stuff. You showed the steam engine room tech's. We made the ships live!!By the way, wasn't that plant a "Skinner Uniflo"? Just asking. =Stefan=
these engines are works of art...superb.

By the way, I like the sound in. That is half the beauty of these engines!

Note the Alley & MacLellan "Sentinel" steam steering engine located aft of the main engine, from time 1:44
