  • Love this song...nice to see the lyrics.

  • This was the first cover of this Phil Ochs classic. Despite my being a Gordon Lightfoot fanatic and liking his cover as well, this is still perhaps the best cover.

  • What sounds to me obvious (but maybe you'll disagree) is that Crispian St. Peters modelled his cover after Phil Ochs' friends' cover, on Jim & Jean's CHANGES album. Of course, with his range he can sing both Jean's & Jim's parts. But if you like this approach, and haven't listened to Jim & Jean's 3 records, you might want to try them.

  • What a VOICE!!!!

  • What an incredible song...sung by an incredible singer...

  • This is the superior version of this song.

  • Phil, I will bear the pain of your death every day of my life.

    Love you, mate.

  • Gordon Lightfoot recorded this song but did not write it. Phil Ochs wrote it.

    Rest in Peace dear friend.

  • gordon lightfoot was the writer............... great song

  • beautiful...rarely heard song

  • muito bom este video parabens

  • By Crispian St Peters??? Don't think so. It's a Phil Ochs song. Another good version by Gene Clark.

  • Great Song. R.I.P.

  • Heaven will love to hear this angel's voice

    God Bless Pete x

  • Great version of this beautiful song RIP Crispian

  • Just heard the sad news that Crispian died 8th June, this year. He was 71.

  • Crispian St.Peters was one of the best pop singers ever from the UK.

What a shame he couldn't cope with his succes.

I consider that a great loss for the world of pop music.

But fortunately he left us some great songs.

This one is my personal favorite.

  • Does anybody know - is it possible to get karaoke version of this magic?

    Can't find anywhere.....Thnx...

  • Wonderfully melodic.

  • WOW!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • Of all the versions out there Crispian's is by far my favoirite. What a voice, great harmony. Phil Och's wrote a beautiful song and Crispian really did it justice!

  • Totally agree. It is hard to beat Crispians voice for this song.

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • Great version...beautiful words...have posted Gene Clarks version as a Video Response

    Jim

  • just beautiful and i'm so happy to find this song again. unbelievable song.

  • Thanks for share RAWRAMP;)

  • tanx PPP enjoyed that hit and fav ROCK ON

  • Such were the 60s, when even relatively minor artists like Crispian St. Peters could come out with little masterpieces like this.

  • hey s2003 you are not dead and you have choices.iknow what hurtis and i can help.

  • what a song!

  • A beautiful song

    and a beautiful poem...

    He saw deeper into life

than most young people his age.

  • Gordon Lightfoot covered this one on his album 'Lightfoot', recorded late 64, released March 1966. : )

  • great song

  • Once again, I come in here. So totally alone...and all the painful changes going on right now. What do you do, but try to listen to music to make until the morning.

  • Just a brilliant,heartfelt song..Can't believe it wasn't even a hit..Thanks so much for uploading :)

  • Needed a dose of a lovely song and voice tonight:)

  • I just found out that Jimmy Page played guitar on this version. Amazing history of music! This should have been #1 in the states with the folk movement. St. Peters is too sick to perform anymore...such a shame. Blessings and peace.

  • al kooper played on the jim and jean version

murry the k a new york dj had them in his last concert with the blues project mitch ryder the who[they brought their favorite group the cream]

  • Phil Ochs was under rated. This is a moving rendition, even though the printed lyrics are a little off here and there. Too bad that it was not the whole song, though.

  • it sounds like crispian is trying to sound like jim and jeans original version by singing a duet with himself

  • Would that be Jim and Jeans "original version" of a Phil Ochs song originally recorded by...PHIL OCHS?

  • In a way, it's too bad that -- in the United States, at least -- Crispian St. Peters is pretty much "known" only for his rendition of "Pied Piper," when, in actuality, he had numerous top recordings, such as this great song.

  • Had I heard this back then, I would have "flipped" over it. Just never heard it. Gordon Lightfoot and Ochs the only versions and since Ochs wrote it...what can you say, and Lightfoot was lovely, but this is just amazing. So sad it didn't make it over here. Memories of the past...maybe we can make them present with YT, eh? Peace from Texas. Lovin' "me Windfingers" (Gary Moore).

  • ...the Square. Many young people camped out, and slept there. An 8PM curfew was set, but later removed after the riots between police, sailors from the navy, & the youth. Upon self-reflection, Amsterdam & Holland reverted back into being the most tolerant and accepting country in the world, and remains so to this very day. Now, you have rekindled all the fond memories of your city with this song. Thank you, again!

  • One of the most reflective, moving songs of all time. Even as I listen to it now, I reminisce about visiting your beautiful country in the Summer of 1970, and how kind and wonderful the Dutch people were (even to Americans!LOL). You may remember the "riots" in Dam Square at that time. I accidentally got caught up in them, and just missed having my head cracked open by a motorcycle cop's club. Yet, the next day the gvmt. was apologizing to the country for trying to clear out the hippies from

  • Amazing song! Yet, I've never heard this version. I was 16 at the time and loved this song. The "counterculture" stations in the States played Ochs,Lightfoot, and even Jim & Jean's versions(remember recording all on reel-to-reel), but not Crispian's("Pied Piper" was a major commercial success). I remember listening to Lighfoot for hours, playing it over & over, and never getting tired of it(to this day!)Koos, thank you so much for introducing this version to me. I'm playing it over & over, again!

  • Ah, it's been a while since I've been in here, but totally agree with you. This version should have been promoted with the beauty it could have given all of us back then.

  • I had to listen one more time today...unbelievably amazing voice!!!

  • God, what a beautiful high tenor!

  • Gordon Lightfoot did a great version of Changes, also. This one is beautiful!

  • This is the best version of Changes. Crispian St Peters a magnificent voice.

  • beautiful song by Crispian St. Peters

correction: a beautiful song by Phil Ochs, and a half decent song by Crispian St. Peters

  • At age sixty-one this can easily be my flagship song from the past!

  • At the age of 64 it is my flag ship and always brings a lump to my throat. Cheers Pete

  • He's great and has a wonderful voice.

  • crispian dubble track this song to get a better sound

  • Many thanks Koos it's appreciated !

  • never heard this one before it's brilliant ! can it be got on cd ?

  • I know of two CD's: "The Anthology" and "Follow me". See the links in the description section.

  • @creggan ha ha u dont what u missed in the 60's, not many people remember this, it was on b side im sure of the pied piper, fantastic song

  • I agree with tonyhorn, This song should have reached number 1 worldwide! Crispian St Peters was among the greatest male solo artists of all time.

  • crispian never got the credit he was due

  • i was 16 when this was out superb then, superb now, brilliant.

  • Wow--that arrangement is very similar to Jim & Jean's version of this Phil Ochs song on their _Changes_ LP. Did he copy them or vice versa? (Ian & Sylvia's and Phil's own versions are rather different--but Crispian St. Peters did cover Ian & Sylvia's "You Were On My Mind" in a hit version).

  • This song is a CLASSIC and should have hit the number one spot.

  • great song just great

  • I was 16 years old when this was out, should have gone to number 1 in the charts, Brilliant.

  • memories

  • You were only six years old in 1966. What were your memories? I was 18 at the time and we played this song at each party. Koos

  • dear KoosHolland I was born in 1942 so I guess it makes me 24 at that time.. guess we have the same memories..and I love Neil Diamond and Gene Pitney

  • You've got great taste in music, at least. How about The Big O?
