Very cool install, i have just finished the iAtkos v.7 install, which i liked because of good sound and screen res. but only one core working.. so then i did a vanilla retail install 2.0,.. everything fine, now both cores worked and sound o.k. but shit screen res

and now i´ve found this,.. excellent,.. keep up the good work mate.

i will try this next on my acer 5920g...

ow yeah, and 1 thing, I have Acer 5920G but with a different specs. Well, actually only the processor that different. Mine has intel T7500 (2.2GHz, FSB 800mb, 4mb L2 cache). You said that you changed the processor of your acer. Is that really possible? How much did it costs you?

@jemrylie Yes, it is possible to upgrade the CPU. My T8300 cost me about $150 on eBay. I think there is a tutorial on how to do it somewhere on Youtube. If you can't find it, try NotebookReview.

However, from what i understand we have to first install leopard from an installation dvd and then make it a snow leopard installation. Given this is the flow of the installation, should i find a "normal" (not snow i mean) leopard installation disc and use that? I am not really sure if i need the retail discs of both leopard and snow leopard or any patched ones!

@geodeath3 You can use a patched Leopard disk. Only the Snow Leopard disk must be a vanilla retail version.

But the battery bar didn't show up, ethernet and wifi were dead, multi-touch (trackpad) wasn't functioning, webcam only works for certain app, mediabutton dead, I don't know about the card reader but I'm pretty sure it also dead. Can it all work if I just follow your guide using the kalyway's Leopard and then retail Snow Leopard ?

hey you don't need an enabler for nvidia 8600m GT, just use "GraphicsEnabler=yes" at boot (or place it in com.apple.Boot.plist)

@sk8er000loplop I did not have any problem updating. At worst, I think you may need to reinstall a few kexts, but I doubt you will get a kernel panic.

@AspireAS5920 you are quite right! i've updated to 10.6.3 and I've reinstalled the AppleHDA.kext and now works also the turn of and the restart..unfortunately doesn't work the ethernet but I've just ordered a wifi module (dell 1390)..also my 8600m gt seems to flash sometimes (now is not flashing at all) i'll try to reinstall the video kext and ethernet kext...Anyway thank you very much! this is the ONLY guide that works for this pc!!! you are GREAT!!!

sleepenabler.ketx (i've tried 5 versions fo this kext but no one is

working at the moment) the shut down and restart didn't work after

replacing the openaltrestart.kext so i left the original one and

updated with the combo update to 10.6.3 and after it they work. Some

Times could depend on DSDT.aml in the extra folder..anyway if you want

to try my kext i can send it to you by mail..
