Their voices are so different...I like both singers but I think I like Charice's version of the song more because it's more like the original which as everyone knows is gold. I like Leona's take on it but when you do a Whitney song you've got to perform at Whitney level and I don't think she has the voice to do that. I think she'd perform a Mariah song better than Charice...maybe...Charice has a ninja voice so you never know.

Charice should develop her own style of music, although she's really good singing other singer's pieces (eg listen). I think her voice is a bit like Christina Aguilera, which is very strong and powerful. but she really show develop her feelings towards the songs, rather than just singing powerfully.

@protenc well charice also started writing some of her own material at a young age. She's recently co-wrote a song "In this song" with David Foster, which comes with her Debut album (out already in the US). She's just turned 18 this month, Leona in this clip was already 23.

marketing aka record sales arent best ways to gauge how good an artist is.. look at the spice girls (ginger spice, scary spice, and sporty spice going solos) in their heydey, and compare them to sarah brightman.. who sold more? who sings better?.. hmm.
I was really referring to record sales for popularity, plus Charice being better is down to opinion. Also, I know how you say you can't say that just yet because she hasn't really released much material, but her first song "note to god" released in the states died down pretty quickly. (comparing it to Leona's "Bleeding Love") I think she just has to wait a few years before finding her feet in terms of the industry. Btw, I repeat I'm not a hater and I do like Charice, but I just prefer Leona.

All singers can be marketable, especially if they have the right material. Charice has been on Oprah and they loved her, so it's her material I think that's the important thing for her. Btw, Leona is just as consistent in her performances as Charice is. Btw I agree Charice is most probably more confident than Leona, but Leona generally performs in front of a lot more people than Charice. Plus, who being better is generally down to opinion and what people think of the artist.

My vote goes to Leona. Prefer her tone and singing isn't all about power you know... Even though Leona has bucket loads of it :) Btw, I am not a hater because I think Charice is really talented, I just preferred Leona. Also, incase anyone tries to say to me "Charice is better/more popular", I'll let record sales do the talking :)

marketing aka record sales arent best ways to gauge how good an artist is.. look at the spice girls (ginger spice, scary spice, and sporty spice going solos) in their heydey, and compare them to sarah brightman.. who sold more? who sings better?.. hmm.

I was really referring to record sales for popularity, plus Charice being better is down to opinion. Also, I know how you say you can't say that just yet because she hasn't really released much material, but her first song "note to god" released in the states died down pretty quickly. (comparing it to Leona's "Bleeding Love") I think she just has to wait a few years before finding her feet in terms of the industry. Btw, I repeat I'm not a hater and I do like Charice, but I just prefer Leona.

not really opinion. in all of their performances, charice's consistency in delivering the notes is better than leona, and shes also more confidient add that she's at younger age. record sales and marketing.. well.. there are great many singers out there who do not cater to popular taste...or arent marketable..

All singers can be marketable, especially if they have the right material. Charice has been on Oprah and they loved her, so it's her material I think that's the important thing for her. Btw, Leona is just as consistent in her performances as Charice is. Btw I agree Charice is most probably more confident than Leona, but Leona generally performs in front of a lot more people than Charice. Plus, who being better is generally down to opinion and what people think of the artist.

Not all, and some more marketable than others.. i mean sex sells.. leona is definitely more better looking, and is physically more appealing internationally hence shes got the advantage off bat. also charice did perform confidently in front of a lively football crowd of 50k+ people in feyenoord .

Besides, asian singer are too clumsy in pronunciation.. i mean they're too forcing/too over in their pronunciation .. its too odd to hear it when they're singing english song..

besides theres nothing wrong with charice's pronounciation here, leona mispronounced some words as much such as the "what" in "take me for what i am" and "rest" .in "ill never rest for much".

charice is such a beautiful and blessed girl with such a huge voice. i dont think that persons should compare charice to leona lewis in my opinion even though it may seem that charice may have sang the song better when you take a good look at both vocalist you can see leona has a voice that makes her an all rounder whereas charice may need voice training to be more versatile, but other than that she's great.

It's just an opinion - and it happens to be the correct one. I seriously doubt Charice will ever be big in America or Europe as a recording artist. Her style is much more suited to the Asian market where all singers seem to feel the need to over-sing and serve every line with a hefty dollop of cheese.

just look at t'pau and their lead singer carol decker, she sang excellent ballads without having to look weak/vulnerable, or even heart's anne wilson (carrying a hammer whilst singing "what about love"). its dependent on what the story of the lyrics is trying to convey. e.g the first words of this song say "Share my life, take me for what i am, cos ill never change all my colours for you" its not submissive. add leona's way of looking vulnerable.. well i just dont want to watch it.
