Can anyone tell me how to make the header and footer the length of the entire page as seen on the page in the vid? Even the name of the technique would be handy so I can look it up.
Great tutorial. The practice run went great. Having trouble making a smaller version tho of 480px wide. Changed the dimensions in the iframe and in the html of the images but when inserted in to my webpage its still attempting to show the 950 version i.e chopping half the image off and the right nav button and pause button are not to be seen....any suggestions???
At 5:20 I can't get them to get the carousel effect, they're still stacked on each other and I made the width 20,000px. I have 21 pictures each with 557px wide. HELP!

@chivas00rr A lot of money :) If you're serouis about making websites and anything else Adobe offers like Photoshop then you'd spend the money. If not and you just want to fool around and try figuring this out (no it's not easy! takes time to master) then hopefully you're smart enough to do cracks, but because you ask this question I don't think you know what a crack is.

I am using Google Chrome and it wont show the slideshow for me. In options i have allowed jawascript on chrome but that does not change it. I can see the small pictures but no slideshow or pictures ticking down.

Indeed, I have follow the instructions and in Dreamweaver cs5 this does not work... At least with the jQuery carousel that i got from his link. Shame, it did look good on the video though. I am going to keep on looking to find a descent one that works.

@Jacketfabric You will need to put it online for me to have a look and tell you the problem. But I can say without any doubt in my mind that you have not followed the tutorial correctly. If the slideshow doesnt work then the scripts are not connect properly or they may be in the wrong order. Always put your jquery library first as that is what fires off in the browser first. If you put it online I will diagnose the problem immediately. - James

If you have put it into one of your own pages then it is probably not reacting well to something on that page. If you have just done the tutorial and the unit is on its own on a page then you possibly missed something in the tutorial.

@incertnamehere987 you will need to go back to add a new editable region in the head of the document that allows you to add script otherwise you will come across huge amount of problems in the future.

ive downloaded this file and been fiddling around with it and still can't get it to work and i have checked all the links. Plus when i downloaded this carousel file, i didnt get everything that ive seen in your video. All i got was an "image" folder, and two .js files and thats it. Nothing else. I've attempted to make it vertical instead of horizontal, like a fashion slideshow. So was i suppose to have all your files in this video? not concerned bout your customised buttons though.
@HEyTHeReSpORtSFaN yes, you'll need to use RGBA colours instead of HEX colors so if the text in the span tag is white #FFF replace with color: rgba (255,255,255, 1.0); That will give the text a color of white but a full opacity. - James
@DreamWeaverTutorial Thanks man but I think I did something wrong somewhere as it doesn't matter what I put in the span tag for a colour, even nothing, doesn't effect it. Always white text. The only thing I can change in the span tag that does have effect is the font-size for some reason
@DreamWeaverTutorial Hm, doesn't seem to work. Even with rgba colors set at 1.0 the text isn't full opacity. It shows the text in white alright, but at the same transparency as the text holder. Any solutions yet, James? I's rather not make the text bold.
@SuperDigitalSpit the problem is not on my side of the fence. It's probably that both of you have not told dreamweaver the correct location to your script files. If you see no animation what so ever then this would be the problem. If you see the first animation and something goes wrong in the transition to the second image, then this would indicate that you have possibly not closed off your LI tags correctly.

When i try the code out online, its alignment is off by about 8 pixels from the top left of the main div i placed the frameholder in, but works fine offline.. is there something regarding positioning i forgot to declare somehwere?
I got this working well with firefox but other browsers can't find the files. I think it's because I have the carousel folder outside of my root folder for the page. I think I'll reload it with the carousel files inside my root. Can I just move all the carousel folder inside my root, or do you suggest I order my image files to correspond to the files already ordered in the root (all images in one, etc). Will the carousel CSS file affect the html files outside of the carousel plugin?

Very nice and helpful tutorial! However, I was wondering if you can help us out by creating a tutorial about putting arrow buttons so the user don't have to wait for the next image to appear? That would be fantastic!
I am beyond frustrated. I have been trying all day to get a freaking slide-show on my website. I've gone through a crap load of tutorials. I finally get to yours and everything seems good like it's going to work. I copy and paste the script_hooks, yours works, mines doesn't! I'm going to jump out of a window.

Is there something wrong with the code I use? The pics are displayed side by side while editing but in Live View in DW and in browser they're shown one under another. I have no idea what is wrong.
@DreamWeaverTutorial yes i know, but there are many chances that a user might also have same problem when opening our website in IE. Because i think we should make website keeping max users in mind.
@eraprathore Yes that is a possibility, I can say that on all of my computers that I own I dont have a problem running this slideshow carousel. There is no guarantee that other people wont have the same problem as you. I should also point out that my analytics tell me that 2% of my visitors do not even have javascript turned on which means it wont display at all. Also, many other modern web elements on the web like form validation, adsense, lightboxes are affected by people with javascript off

@lugsy9999 Hi, the width and height are user defined so you will need to change the dimensions in the HTML but also the height and widths selected in the CSS document. The jQuery will only animate on the parameters you tell it to. - James
I changed my picture sizes to 950x250 and everything went fine i changed the width and height when we wrote the code in the source code and every thing. It worked up until i copied script hooks (which i didnt have a problem doing) but one that was placed i went to view it in chrome/safari and none of the animations were there just my photos and the txt underneath it ?
any idea whats wrong, i saw u said to change the html and the css document can u clarify
@AL7X7 I think there will always be a place for flash but jQuery works naturally with the browser DOM so is very compatible. Some animations that were once produced with flash can now be produced with javascript and jquery and the files are very lightweight. Flash will still be around though.
Hi SilentScope75, Assuming your code is correct then if the problem is only happening in Firefox then its probably a firefox issue. I know people have been having problems with the latest update. Go to the Firefox forum, youll probably have to delete your ini files or reinstall. Is it online or are you testing only in dreamweaver? if so send me a personal message with the link and ill test it in my firefox browser to make sure. - James

Is there any way to have the black text holder remain at 0.5 opacity but have the white text at full opacity???

****OK to everyone that is having a prob with the images beign displayed side by side when they should be working properly****
make sure you more the two .js files from folder "carousel/js/infinitecarousel/" to "carousel/js"
when you unzip them they are in a sub folder,
it worked for me :-) hope it works for you too :-)

I am beyond frustrated. I have been trying all day to get a freaking slide-show on my website. I've gone through a crap load of tutorials. I finally get to yours and everything seems good like it's going to work. I copy and paste the script_hooks, yours works, mines doesn't! I'm going to jump out of a window.

@branblackmon if you mean the images are side by side then the scripts are not connected properly. check that you are pointing to the files, if you have uploaded it to the internet then send me the link and ill tell you what to do. - James

Is there something wrong with the code I use? The pics are displayed side by side while editing but in Live View in DW and in browser they're shown one under another. I have no idea what is wrong.

@DreamWeaverTutorial yes i know, but there are many chances that a user might also have same problem when opening our website in IE. Because i think we should make website keeping max users in mind.

@eraprathore Yes that is a possibility, I can say that on all of my computers that I own I dont have a problem running this slideshow carousel. There is no guarantee that other people wont have the same problem as you. I should also point out that my analytics tell me that 2% of my visitors do not even have javascript turned on which means it wont display at all. Also, many other modern web elements on the web like form validation, adsense, lightboxes are affected by people with javascript off

hi, i really loved ur tutorial.. but i have one problem when open my webpage in IE it says activex blocked and i need to click it to getting animation working....this is many times annoying is there any fix for this.

@eraprathore Hi at some point you may have adjusted your security settings to higher than the average. go to
Tools>internet options>security>custom level
and then scan down until you find active x controls and enable or disable as appropriate

Hi Great tutorials, and have it working really well. Wanted to ask though if i change the jpeg sizes to say 820x259 this puts all the buttons out. Been trying various ways to move them in but really stumped.

@lugsy9999 Hi, the width and height are user defined so you will need to change the dimensions in the HTML but also the height and widths selected in the CSS document. The jQuery will only animate on the parameters you tell it to. - James

I changed my picture sizes to 950x250 and everything went fine i changed the width and height when we wrote the code in the source code and every thing. It worked up until i copied script hooks (which i didnt have a problem doing) but one that was placed i went to view it in chrome/safari and none of the animations were there just my photos and the txt underneath it ?
any idea whats wrong, i saw u said to change the html and the css document can u clarify

@DreamWeaverTutorial When i try download the fiel on your website it just opens up the file in microsoft word as a single file.
Any ideas how i may over come this?

@AL7X7 I think there will always be a place for flash but jQuery works naturally with the browser DOM so is very compatible. Some animations that were once produced with flash can now be produced with javascript and jquery and the files are very lightweight. Flash will still be around though.

Hi SilentScope75, Assuming your code is correct then if the problem is only happening in Firefox then its probably a firefox issue. I know people have been having problems with the latest update. Go to the Firefox forum, youll probably have to delete your ini files or reinstall. Is it online or are you testing only in dreamweaver? if so send me a personal message with the link and ill test it in my firefox browser to make sure. - James
