No offense, but there's nothing real about 99.99% of "real aikido" videos.
There are, however, a lot of "demonstrations"... but the problem is that every single demonstration is against some students that are more then compliant. Zero resistence watsoever.

@TheBrunozxc I think comparing "kiai master" with a Aikido dan has not sense at all, cause, "kiai master" is a farce, but Aikido has real techniques, this video is not real time training, but after years this kind of master has all the knowledge and practice to apply the techniques in real time movements without problems (I've seen it)
@TheBrunozxc You are right saying that you should run, but probably when the enemy really want to kill you is worst run and get shot. If you can is better try to disarm the oponent, thats why so many armies in the world use this kind of martial arts, but it really take practice to get a useful technique in combat. I practice ninjutsu, and im a beginner in Aikido, I think most martial arts techiniques are very useful in a fight, but if you know really how to use it. Sorry about my english

And there are a lot of ppl who think u can be fast enough to disarm a guy when he's already pointing the gun to your head. Best thing to do in those situations is just surrender...u cant move ur entire body faster then a trigger pull...no matter how fast u think u are. Fact.

I'm pretty sure this isn't Aikido. I've been doing it for 4ish years so I'm no where near and expert but still. And this is definitely not 10 DAN. My teacher is 7 DAN and he has been doing it for a long time, and I haven't seen him beaten.

@Stretchball Well theorically you can reach till 9th Danpassing tests, yet is hard, people with 9th Dan in Japan are considered a country trasure, for 10th Dan you would be first dead and then get that honor, and you would only get it if you made a contribution to Aikido in general :S I think there isn't any (Real) living 10th Dan currently, not like this guy wich looks like 6th Dan xD
I think he has real technique just based on some of his students how they move.The techniques they do may be a bit more aggressive but in real life situations can prove to be life saving.As systems are passed down they seem to be modified sometimes according to the way the individual moves or because lets face it some of the shit they teach you just simply don't work If your ignorant then you'll disagree with me but the truth is the truth Traditional Aikido on the street will not save your life
@aikidoway71 Aikido isn't made for "fighting". If you want to fight on the street learn boxing or something. Aikido that I learned is more about conflict resolution or never putting yourself in that position in the first place. And if you are in a situation you can't resolve without physical force then techniques can be adapted to real life, but that's the last resort. Throws look pretty on a mat, but in real life they can cause serious injuries.

I believe that aikido is more of a philosophy and more spiritual than physical. What i see in america is purely physical. to understand you do need to center all three. If you train "aikido" you should never have to use it. Because you wouldn't put yourself into any situation that would cause harm to yourself or others. There is a big difference between real aikido and the newer improvised forms of aikido, i also trained with one of ueshibas students. In the end anything can be effected but to say its real, well thats a different story. Real aikido traces back to the beginning original form. most people dont realize what it takes to be a black belt in aikido, it isnt a corner karate place that promotes and gives belts away and if they act that way they are being disrespectful.

@4everurs1000 there doesn't seem to be enough special forces for everybody who claims to be training them these days.
The difference between this and mainstream is that these people use a bit more speed in class, and add a lot of tough looking endings. I'm yet to see it actually work outside of demonstrations. If you know any videos of this being used in free sparring environment with people from outside of the system - please share.
I got Blackbelt 1st dan Aikikai Aikido and i dont see myself as an expert but, i can clearly see that there is no aikido in this or any else of "world real aikido bla bla bla" fantastic videos!

I trained my live with an Japanese teacher 8 DAN, one of the top 5 in the world. Not even Master Tada has a 10th DAN and they are the straight follower of Ueshiba. What kind of presentation this is, i have no idea. Technique wrong, not in the way of Aikido. But hilarious, 10th DAN. Good joke.

There is a big difference between Aikido, and Real Aikido. You have probably trained with Aikido masters. I have on other hand trained Real Aikido all my life with Ljubomir Vracarevic. The man who founded REAL Aikido. And he is the highest rank of it. Noone other in the world has 10th DAN in Real Aikido, besides Him.

The differences between West teachers and Asian teacher in martial art world are west teachers seems bit cocky, show off, less wise and not down to earth type guy. They called themselves a "Master". But not with asians ones, they really understood the philosophy behind all the movement and artistics side. Just my 2 cents.

the title grandmaster is an american invention during the 1950s. it came from returning american soldiers who learned martial arts and they called some described there teachers as grand masters. it became a marketing tactic by the MA community and has turned into this since then. in asia students called there martial arts teachers "teacher", rarely did they say master. im not hating on this guy just putting the info out there.

They get your name from a phone book, ask you to pay your entrance fee to the hall of fame and the voila you're part of the hall of fame. @SLINGSTATIC I was always under the impression that in the old days, if you could defeat every other 'dan' in the same class, you could promote yourself to 10th dan... Under the understanding that at any time, if you can be defeated by anyone, you lost it. The days of old however, sometimes involved death, as these fighting styles were created to protect clans and different towns from outsiders. It wasn't just competition.

Tbh, i really think that Aikido has some cool and usefull moves, but you gotta realized those moves aint work in 90% of real fighting scenarios.

I believe that aikido is more of a philosophy and more spiritual than physical. What i see in america is purely physical. to understand you do need to center all three. If you train "aikido" you should never have to use it. Because you wouldn't put yourself into any situation that would cause harm to yourself or others. "I understand in some cases, the wrong place at the wrong time." Just remember when it comes to MA deception is key. ( i didn't read anyone else's comments)

There is a big difference between real aikido and the newer improvised forms of aikido, i also trained with one of ueshibas students. In the end anything can be effected but to say its real, well thats a different story. Real aikido traces back to the beginning original form. most people dont realize what it takes to be a black belt in aikido, it isnt a corner karate place that promotes and gives belts away and if they act that way they are being disrespectful.

@4everurs1000 there doesn't seem to be enough special forces for everybody who claims to be training them these days.
The difference between this and mainstream is that these people use a bit more speed in class, and add a lot of tough looking endings. I'm yet to see it actually work outside of demonstrations. If you know any videos of this being used in free sparring environment with people from outside of the system - please share.

I trained my live with an Japanese teacher 8 DAN, one of the top 5 in the world. Not even Master Tada has a 10th DAN and they are the straight follower of Ueshiba. What kind of presentation this is, i have no idea. Technique wrong, not in the way of Aikido. But hilarious, 10th DAN. Good joke.

There is a big difference between Aikido, and Real Aikido. You have probably trained with Aikido masters. I have on other hand trained Real Aikido all my life with Ljubomir Vracarevic. The man who founded REAL Aikido. And he is the highest rank of it. Noone other in the world has 10th DAN in Real Aikido, besides Him.

The differences between West teachers and Asian teacher in martial art world are west teachers seems bit cocky, show off, less wise and not down to earth type guy. They called themselves a "Master". But not with asians ones, they really understood the philosophy behind all the movement and artistics side. Just my 2 cents.

the title grandmaster is an american invention during the 1950s. it came from returning american soldiers who learned martial arts and they called some described there teachers as grand masters. it became a marketing tactic by the MA community and has turned into this since then. in asia students called there martial arts teachers "teacher", rarely did they say master. im not hating on this guy just putting the info out there.

Street? No. For the road so no one attacks. None of these techniques function in a real fight. It seems to work but lacks the most important thing: a real attacker, unpredictable and violent, and real attacks, they want to send Ko.

BUT you cannot declare yourself 10th dan grand master in a martial art that someone else created and is taught the same way worldwide... variations may appear but they are all called aikido. as far as i am concerned he can name what he is teaching something else and be 20th dan godlike master.

They get your name from a phone book, ask you to pay your entrance fee to the hall of fame and the voila you're part of the hall of fame. Does a baseball star have to pay to get his name in the Baseball Hall of Fame? I think these martial associations are a scam and are created to give credibility where there is none.

@SLINGSTATIC I was always under the impression that in the old days, if you could defeat every other 'dan' in the same class, you could promote yourself to 10th dan... Under the understanding that at any time, if you can be defeated by anyone, you lost it. The days of old however, sometimes involved death, as these fighting styles were created to protect clans and different towns from outsiders. It wasn't just competition.
