Sustainability in these rural villages is key if Afganistan is to drastically decrease the influence that the Taliban has over the people. If the people of these villages has access to basic services that provide them a better life, then they are much less likly to side with the insurgents! All the best!!
The World Bank isn't a company, it's a governmental organization. That means the people working for it are trying to do something the private sector is as yet unable to. The time is coming when Afghani entrepreneurs lead companies that fix the big problems of nuclear waste, and run construction businesses to build roads - and barber shops, and restaurants and microchip manufacturing plants. Rome wasn't built in a day.
What are they going to do about the Depleted Uranium there? What about the next 4.5 BILLION YEARS? I dont trust any World Bank, World Health Organization or United Nations. Its all a publicity stunt. Lets see these companies do something about stopping the USE of depleted uranium and cleaning that stuff up.
... that is one more road than before..better than the billions spent on fraud wars on behalf of free world.. any organization willing to struggle in Afghanistan is worth our support. This is a country were Muslim women are elected by their communities to positions of decision making while under insurgent problems
World Bank crying wolf. Billions given to Warlords, NGOs and corrupt officials and seven years of mismanagement. And you think you are making a difference(?)
Wow! After seven years of corruption, World Bank has built a road in a village in Afghanistan! Wow!
