  • how is this a drop kick? dont drop kicks have to bounce off the ground ?

  • Comment removed

  • @killakp121 It does hit the ground. So did Brees' attempt. They kick it as soon as the ball makes contact with the ground.

  • No one will know you didn't know what a drop kick was in the NFL.... like me.

  • Pro bowl

  • drew brees sucks, this is how its done

  • I wonder how many views this had before the pro bowl

  • according to wikipedia, drop kicks are supposed to bounce off the floor.

  • PRO BOWL

  • PRO BOWL

  • Pro bowl lmao

  • pro bowl too

  • pro bowl

  • Had to check this out after seeing Brees totally shank a drop kick in the Pro Bowl.

  • o pro bola e reprise certeza

  • vo pro haxball

  • Pro Bowl

  • carceireiros win!!! fuck the pro bola!

  • ahahha pro bowl took me here, brees you're a clown

  • vem pra ca seus pro bolenses

  • pro bola

  • Pro bowl

  • Pro Bowl

  • Pro bowl

  • Ahh Drew Brees that was funny

  • Drew Brees needs to work on this lol

  • pro bowl

  • Same here, I had to see it made.

  • Like if you saw Drew Brees try this in the 2012 Pro bowl and then Doug Flutie commented that he did it and then you came to search it on youtube!! hahaha

  • pro bowl! haha

  • Pro bowl took me here...

  • Here kuz of the pro bowl!

  • What was the score

  • Doesn't work on Madden :(((

  • wait, so was it a FG or a touchback? idk

  • @oldhippie6262 It was for a PAT

  • @EminemEatsMandMs oh how come no one does that anymore?

  • @oldhippie6262 The ball has to bounce off the ground first for it to be a drop kick. A modern football is more pointed (designed to improved passing) and harder to have a bounce go straight back up. In earlier versions, the ball was more rounded like a rugby ball and easier to get a good bounce.

  • @cayo255 fist bump

  • @username01793 Can you elaborate on how he would tear it up? What position would he even play?

  • @DizdatHuupti Are you serious ?? He has great hands(can catch anything) and is very elusive with blazing speed..Can you imagine Calvin Johnson playing wing catching the ball in full stride...GAME OVER !!!!. And he's 6'5 240 and shredded so have fun getting in his way

  • Over/under: Username01793 has watched 1.5 rugby matches in his life.

Not every sport has the same physical demands as American football. Calvin Johnson's gifts would be borderline worthless in any form of rugby.

  • @DizdatHuupti Anybody 6'5 240 LBS Who can run 100 Meters in 10.23 seconds has a 43 inch vertical is strong as hell, has great flex ability & footwork along with soft hands wouldn't be worthless playing rugby..in fact they would tear it up.

  • Was this in Nfl network's top 10? Is so, what episode.

  • @rmpktwin1 I don't think it was, I think it was one of those NFL Yearbook things.

  • I forget did the Pats line up as if they were going for a two point conversion?

  • does it give 1, 2 or is it the equivalent of a field goal?

  • @Moraud5386 Kicked PAT's received 1 point. Run or Pass completion PAT's receive 2. A field goal attempt can either be place kicked or drop kicked....either receive 3 points.

    3. A Free kick (after a called fair catch for example) can either be drop kicked or place kicked without snapping the football....this is 3 points. I recall Paul Hornung kicking one in from 52 yards in about 1962 on a fair catch free kick just before half time.

  • @jhinkle72 actually the fastest growing sport is lacrosse

  • @Patriots83Fan MMA, no comparison.

  • @st0n3p0ny MMA isn't a sport

  • @Username01793 Your fucking dumb if you think mma isn't a sport. They are actually by far the best athletes in all aspects.

  • @dropturdsonyou You must be joking.

  • @Username01793 How? I'm actually confused by what you are saying now...

  • @dropturdsonyou because you have no clue what a athlete is

  • @Username01793 Haha I just checked your Channel! You've been trolling on rugby videos since you joined hahaha Sad Life. NFL is one of the most boring games I've ever watched so have fun trying to convert anybody who has watched Rugby or any other sport out there that doesn't stop every 3 seconds.

  • @dropturdsonyou Best athletes in all aspects ? How fast can they run the 100 meters ? What kind of vertical do they have ? What kind of hand eye coordination do they have ? Brock Lesnar was cut from the NFL and he joined the WWE lol. choking somebody out doesn't make you a athlete. MMA workouts are legendary and those guys are tough as nails but that doesn't make them elite athletes lol.

  • @Username01793 It actually most certainly does haha. But this is stupid. You are just another American kid who wants to feel like they play the toughest sport ever so I guess I'll just let you live on in blissful ignorance and I have things to do now so whatever. Good luck to you in the real world!

  • @dropturdsonyou Yup move over Michael Jordan, Jim Brown...Brock Lesnar is the greatest athlete of all time..HAHAH

  • @Username01793 Do you know how much ball handling a rugby player goes through in a single game? Check up on your sports

  • @Username01793 And Lesnar didn't succeed in the NFL becauce he didn't have the skills to compete at that level. He had the athleticism, no question, but he lacked skills. I agree "best athletes in all aspects" might be a bit misleading; few world class rugby players are faster than, say, Devin Hester. But on the other hand, ever heard of Jonah Lomu? He's 6'5'', 275 pounds and in his peak could run a 10.8 100 meter, on grass, in cleats. he's like a taller faster Brandon Jacobs.

  • Thank the lord is w/sound.

  • recorded on a goldfish

  • Was at this game

  • you can do that??

  • for u fuckas who dont know the ball in a drop kick has to touch the ground first this was not a punt

  • Who were the Patriots playing? and what year did he do that?

  • @460Noah dolphins in 2005

  • @460Noah seems like the dolphins

  • @kilox10001 It's kind of a racist joke.

  • @kilox10001 How the hell do you not recognize a joke when you see one?

  • isnt that just a punt...?

  • @Devin21708 Of course, I just wish I knew the situation behind this...

  • is drop kicking like kicking a field goal? 3 points?

  • @Devin21708 Well it can be worth 1 point for a PAT and 3 points for a field goal. and this how they originaly did it then they changed the shape of the ball and then they swichedto place kicking

  • i'm a rugby player and a football player and it's awesome when you see the similarities in the sports

  • i was watching this as it happened. i laughed my ass off

  • DROPP KICKING IS EASY!!THAT IF YOU PLAY RUGBY!

  • 3 points or 1 point after TD. Learn your football guys ..

  • @Jashuh1 except this was an extra point. ONE point.

  • Now thats the first time I've seen that attempted in pro football lol if a team from the nfl mixed in some rugby plays, it would be so much better to watch lol

  • @chiztown89 you know what thats a great comment. made me laugh. touche.

  • @schmitty5833 You watched the video and then you made a comment. You care you little prick!

  • @schmitty5833 doug flutie was going to retire, that was the last play of his career. they wanted to be in the history books

  • This kick looks so nonchalant. Epic!

  • of course a related video is "Amazing Japanese Fake Pool" Ahhhh, America.

  • Comment removed

  • I understand the whole drop kick thing from years ago when nfl rules were derived from rugby. Bellichek is just silly here..I do want to know why Defense didn't go kick his ass. Cuz NE was already up by 21pts.. Bellichek...he's silly....Dumbass!

  • @99lightning99 It was actually a loss for NE. Their playoff seeding was already set, and they benched Brady in the second half, so Belichik just called the play for the sake of novelty.

  • @mrmacross it was flutie's last play of his career.

  • i dont get it

  • I thought the ball had to hit ground first? Isn't this the same a punt ?

  • @Thompc82 ball did hit the ground first just real quick like

  • @Thompc82 It did hit the ground...

  • homosexual

  • Andrew sheridan is very strong but Henry Tuilagi can bench press 630 lbs

  • @AUfan543 I've been trying to find proof of it, but all I can find is a story saying Tuilagi bench pressed 250kg which is a little over 550 pounds. Which is certainly impressive and definitely beats out Sheridan's 500, but I can't find anything for the 630 lb figure.

  • @Dresd I was told by a friend who said that he used to work out with him. You can ask him yourself if you want I will give you his facebook information.

  • @AUfan543 No offense intended to you and your friend, but I'd prefer something more official than someone claiming they worked out with him. I was asking more if you knew of a story of one of Tuilagi's team-mates going on record or Tuilagi himself stating the 630 pounds.

  • @Dresd Sure dont

  • is that worth any points?

  • @supr3me3du no they just do it for the hell of it

  • @supr3me3du no people got excited because it wasnt worth any points duh!

  • They should do this for every extra point

  • another example how American Football is a rip off from rugby :P

  • @cndkalu some same charachteristics but no one likes rugby in america, so fuck off

  • @ChlmpNipplz

Speak for yourself pal. I do like rugby.

  • @ChlmpNipplz Obviously thats not true. There is a reason the States team is called a rugby powerhouse. (tho they really do suck!) :P

  • @cndkalu ok just tell me next time you see them on espn, ok. and the one time i did see them on tv they were getting there ass kicked by ireland.

  • @ChlmpNipplz I know man. Over rated.

  • @ChlmpNipplz hahaha true that

  • @ChlmpNipplz are you serious no one like rugby in america? thats why it is the fastest growing sport right? dumbass

  • @jhinkle72 really? because if rugby is the fastest growing sport in america then my asshole tastes good. Dont pull facts out of your ass rugby doesnt even come on tv. Lacrosse and soccer are the fastest growing new leagues in america.

  • @jhinkle72 its definatly not the fastest growing sport. im so amazed you said that i had to comment twice

  • thumbs up if you DIDNT know that you could do that in the NFL

  • can u do this madden?

  • @module15 no cause ea sports is a fail lol but atleast we got the surprise onside kick this year take them like 10 more years to make the drop kick in madden lol

  • yay sound

  • People who knew that you could do that in the NFL: 186.

    People who didn't 457.

    Huh

  • thumbs up if you saw the top 2 comments and felt sad that you not part of the 168 that DID know you could do that in the NFL

  • funny, any australian rules football player.. even a 10 year old could kick that

  • @hellzwind1 Yeah so... the reason this is a rarity isnt even because its hard its just because noone did one for 50+ years in a pro american football game. Its a lower percentage play than a typical field goal or extra point so its really just a novelty. It takes longer than a normal kick to get off so more likely to be blocked or flubbed. Still cool nonetheless to see flutie go out in a unique way.

  • @hellzwind1 ...maybe with a rugby ball or aussie rule ball but not so easy with an american football...the ends are more pointed which makes the bounce more unpredictable

  • @lubetoob1 i do it all the time

  • @hellzwind1 they actually do not drop kick in Aussie Rules

  • @HectorSuxxx69 youre telling an australian how aussie rules players kick? there are many different styles of kicking created by aussies for footy, the drop kick was one of them;incorperated by american football for punts

  • @hellzwind1 When was the last time you saw any player dropkick (not drop punt) in AFL or any Aussie rules league?

  • @hellzwind1 and your telling a yank who has played gaelic football, rugby union, American football, and watched countless Aussie and International rules matches kicking skills. when was the last time you've seen an aussie rules player drop kick? and the drop kick is most definitely not used for a punt in American Football

  • @HectorSuxxx69 /watch?v=-tp4acErKkQ

  • I don't get that.

  • I Wonder if I can do that in madden

  • Dropkicks have always been legal in the NFL. You just don't see it anymore because the ball is pointier on the ends than it used to be in the old days. It used to be rounder, like a rugby ball. Dropkicks happens all the time in rugby, but the American football changed shape to make it more aerodynamic for passing. (There are no forward passes in rugby.)

  • I remember seeing this 3-4 years ago and i was amazed

  • honestly, it's not hard, especially from that range, backyard stuff right there.

  • I gave both the top comments thumbs ups...

  • The guy two comments under me can read.

  • thumbs up if you can't do that because you're NOT IN the NFL

  • The guy two comments under me can read.

  • we still lost that game lol

  • That guy 2 comments under me can't read.

  • Thumbs up if the comments above are identical

  • @Goldenglov4 fail

  • I know this is not the first in 64 years I rembera Tom Landry team pulling this off and the refs discussing if it was even in the rules

  • This wasn't a "gutsy" play. It was in a meaningless game where the Pats had already locked in their playoff seed position. Win or lose, nothing would have changed

  • @MrFalufa thats what i expected

  • Sure doesnt work in Madden....

  • in order to kick an extra point after a field goal or touchdown, the football has to touch the ground before being kicked....duh

  • @uclaxboi so you get to kick an extra point after a field goal? what game are you watching?

  • ...and for a real drop goal, type in 'Francois Steyn monster drop goal against Clermont'

  • I came here expecting a rugby drop kick in the NFL. Why the hell would you guys expect a person being drop kicked? The team is lined up in a field goal formation.

Also, kudos to Flutie. The shape of a football does not make drop kicks easy.

  • i remember this like it was yesterday. fucking awesome.

  • i dont get it. is this a field goal attempt? also why dont people use the drop kick more often?

  • @PunaniLicker69 the ball is oblong, so the bounce could go anywhere. and its not as strong as a field goal kick.

  • @noleb123 but i dont see him bounce the ball on the ground? it look like he punted it?

  • @PunaniLicker69 it bounced, but he kicked it as soon as it touched the ground to eliminate the chance of a bad bounce. it counts as a field goal.

  • @PunaniLicker69 he kicks it pretty much as soon as it hits the ground so that it cant bounce wrong

  • @PunaniLicker69 Because drop kicks are 2 points and field goals are three and if your close enough to dk your close enough to fg!

  • @Beast8185 Did you really just say drop kicks are 2 points? That is arena football you dumb ass. Drop kicked extra points are 2 and drop kicked field goals are 4 in arena.

  • @SportsGuy2194 I know It was a freaking extra point stupid!

  • @Beast8185 Cool? It's not worth 2 points you moron.

  • "Guts to try it in an NFL game"

The patriots had the game in the bag, This was Doug Flutie's last play in the NFL and a gift from Bellichick. No guts, just pure fun.

  • Thumbs up for the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.

  • @TluskiLetowski Thumbs way, WAY up in support.

  • I wish they would bring the dropkick back to the NFL.

  • drop kick it looked like a punt

  • @hollandfocus except the rugby ball and the football are different... the rugby ball bounces of the ground truer, whereas the football is unreliable because it is thinner to make it easier for passing... so in both sports it is harder for different reasons

  • @gravybars100 You can't really dropkick a football off its point, but if you get the right hold on it and drop it on a diagonal it bounces fairly predictably. I can't understand why this kick is such a big deal.. Also, all of the field goals attempted in football are from right infront of the posts with no angles to deal with, its stupid.

  • @shapeshifters7 hashes are wider in college football so close field goal kicks are far from automatic

  • @happiest1084 Dude, they are right in front. The hashes just adjust for the natural curvature of a kick (seen as legs swing on an axis and not in a straight line). This is an angle: /watch?v=JpKsDsCJhv8. I can't believe that even though kickers have a single job on the field, they dont even give them a proper challenge.

  • It was only from the 10 yd line, but still. Why not just a normal kick?

  • @uhhh24 Because they wanted to give Flutie 1 more play as an NFL player.

  • @bngibbs OK,Thanks.

  • We do this every single game in rugby....except whilst moving and with no one blocking you. Johnny Wilkinson, world cup final 2003....watch and learn America.

  • @hollandfocus

Question is can you also throw a ball 70 yards....

  • @hollandfocus Keep an eye on those blocks. If you watched the kicker the whole time, you missed all the action. Best part of gridiron football is the downfield block. Obstruction sucks.

  • @hollandfocus America Rules!!

  • @jrmitch99 You know that they do play rugby in America dont you?
