  • This was one of my favorite songs when I was just a very boy! I still love it. Sam Cooke was phenominal!

  • Growing up in this era must have been amazing.

  • @cherys600 Trust me it wasn't because of a woman. He had his own record company and they wanted the rights to his material.

  • @AncesterFound a woman did shoot him

  • @AncesterFound That's right. Sams' catalogue still brings in between 2-5 million a year...

  • m0:00re :)

  • THUMBS UP IF TIMOTHYDELAGHETTO SENT YOU.

  • great voice

  • It brings back so many childhood memories for me to hear this song-"Cupid" by Mr. Sam Cooke. I was born long after his death, but the house I grew up in owned records and played them regularly. Love having the memories, and love hearing the music again today.

  • Great Song! Amazing Voice!

  • Fell in love with him and this song when it first came out, did not even know how handsome he was. R.I.P.

  • @garyperkins07 steve whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooMr48Steve

  • I LOVE SAM COOKE! its ashame he got murdered it seems like all the good soulful odl school sigers are dead gosh this is sad because now were left with this crap music!

  • @tiffanyisfresh1 If he wasn't drunk and trying to rape a woman in the bathroom then maybe he wouldn't have been killed by another innocent woman in the motel lobby trying to defend herself.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE I swear the comments that people leave on YouTube tells a lot about their intelligence level. If you don’t know all the facts about a person, stop leaving comments as if you know. By the statement you just made, if you knew all the facts you still couldn't find the TRUTH!

  • @dnichols31 You're reply may have a shred of truth to it. After reading your reply we can all now realize that your intelligence level is close to none. It takes an idiot to ignore concrete facts and instead go on a tyrade pulled straight from your sack of stupid. The TRUTH has been proven many, many years ago. Look into it, extra chromosome boy. In the meantime you keep swearing. LOLOL

  • Comment removed

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE I don't know what an extra chromosome boy is? Nothing you said made much sense. Take care!

  • @dnichols31 "@LT1HILLINGHOE I swear the comments that people leave on YouTube tells a lot about their intelligence level"....does that jog anything in your hammer head? I gotta cut you loose because you're too stupid to even make fun of, extra chromosome boy.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE Read a more about this wonder singer Sam Cooke before you let garbage come out your mouth about a person that's sings so amazing. Were you born at time this took place?

  • @qbellful I wasn't born when Thomas Jefferson was President either, but I know what he did. Matter of fact, the only garbage that I know of that flows from mouths is from idiots like you who know nothing about anything. Just because he sang so amazing doesn't mean he was some kind of angel, idiot.

Is there anything else you care to share from the sack of stupid you carry around on your back? Hope not.

  • great song !!! sam cooke & rod stewart .... the best!!!!

  • i never thought of this song an upbeat number.. dooppee

  • He had so many hits. My word! Every song a hit and wonderful and beautifully and wonderfully sung. I enjoy the songs but always feel so sad cause I think of his death in such a tragic way. I'm going to go on wikipedia and read up about his life and death

  • @ravie6973 This man was one of the greatest performers from the golden age of soul and R & B music. Sam, Otis Redding, Percy Sledge, Solomon Burke, Ray Charles and others made music that are considered classics and are still being played, four or five decades later. Listen to his music but don't concentrate on his last few, sad years.

  • @carrotjuse Thanks. I do listen to his music. I just read up on his story for information, and was glad that I did, because some of the things I had previously heard were erroneous. I love his music to this day. I had heard them through my mother who was and still is a great fan of his.

  • THIS GUY CAN SING ,I LOVE HIM.HE'S SO HAMDSOME.

  • This song is timeless! Have you heard Lee and Lindsey from The Regulars Band cover it? It's really nice :)

  • Such a classic Voice!

  • Sam Cooke was the bomb

  • Amy Winehouse's is good(one of the few good things she's done), but this one is 15x better, it's the original.

  • anyone know where i can find this in HQ?

  • I love Sam Cooke.. I'm 27 years old,but this is one of my favorite artists... this was the first cassette I ever owned.... my uncle put me on Sam Cooke....Amazing...

  • When I was a kid, Sam Cooke was my favorite singer. My top two songs were

"Wonderful World and "Change Gonna Come". When he passed, I was deeply hurt. When I was in the Navy, after completing Tech School at NATTC Memphis, I was assigned to Helicopter Combat Support Squadron One.at Naval Air Station Imperial Beach in California. My Department Head, Warrant Officer Potter, told us when Sam Cooke's "Darling, You Send Me", played on the radio, it was he and his wife's favorite song.

  • LOVE Sam Cooke!

  • I use to dream that she was thinking about me as I drifted off a night. Turns out she was. I love this live version.

  • i love this song cupid straight to my lovers heart haha ha this song just moves my spirit

  • Love this track and I am 113!

  • @mrmagoo1016 ...and 12 people thought that dislike button is dis-i-like :D :D :D ...lets not forget!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!! IM ONLY 21

  • i still love this xxxx m

  • I am aware of the obvious influence Sam had on Steve Perry’s (Journey) style, however when I hear this version I can’t help but wonder if Bob Marley was also a Sam fan. There is just something there.

  • @BuddyGreenfield Well, Marley and his original band sung Sam Cooke-like songs at first.

  • They dont make 'em like this anymore

  • Beautiful,so wonderful sung by the inventor of soulmusic.

  • im 13 and i love sam cooke so much :) classic!! <3

  • this song i remember from when i was a little girl

  • Sam cooke I remember him when he sang the sock hop went wild hehe

    golden memories

  • Sound sgood..I like the Spinners version as well!

  • He was HOT!

  • Check out the reggae version by Johnny Nash, it was one of the first mainstream reggae songs ever.

  • His singing voice sounds a bit like 1960s Marvin Gaye (although his voice sounds a bit hoarse in this live version).

  • Comment removed

  • If if anyone has not seen the BBC documentary Soul Deep about Sam Cook its great you can see the entire thing on youtube

  • PIMP

  • I think I first heard this song in a film called Innerspace. The soundtrack is great, there's a lot of Sam Cooke's music in there and it's one of the main reasons I liked the film as much as I did when I was a kid.

  • OMG I love this song so much!! This man is amazing!! His talent cannot be replaced or copied!!

  • Sam Cooke !! "LEGEND" !!

  • LOVEEEEEE THIS SONG :) My mums like wtf are u listenin to lol xxx

  • Now I see where Steve Perry got his style from.

  • @electricwave Man!You sure got that right! Both great voices,Sam and Steve!Only fitting that they should share a birthday(Jan 22). I loved growing up listening to both of them.

  • Thank you thank you - Fell in love with my now husband of 45 years to this song

  • the original is better amy winehouse try to make her own interpretation, it sucked.

  • @FiendofDA

Well, some people like it. I happen to like both. Don't be so fucking opinionated.

  • @gdrugg2006 I believe i have a right to my own opinion as do you. So why don't you relax.

  • @FiendofDA Sam Cooke is God, but Amy's cover in a reagge style it's very original and not a mere copycat. I wish all the new artist of this millenium were as authentic as Amy is. If somebody sucks it's not Amy but people like Lady Gaga or Beyonce...

  • A great song.

    :)

  • I love this song

  • What a beautiful voice! How tragic that Sam Cooke was murdered.

  • @marthacatgirl oh true that aye, didnt know he had been murdered, how sadd alright.

  • thanks guys for encouraging comments. not all is lost at all. a number of you show that the crap music written these is lacking substance. love & peace

  • Sam cooke vs. frank(the voice)sinatra who ya got???

  • I read that the woman who Cooke was supposedly chasing was soon later arrested for prostitution and then for killing her boyfriend, Louis Reynolds who supposedly attacked her as well. Cooke's money was never recovered after the murder either.

  • @MrSandpebbles Fair winds, sail on.

  • marvelous song. im truly charmed

  • wat a brilliant song

  • This used to mean something else to me when I was in Hi-School. Now it's what I remember the most after losing my first-born son.

I gave him my vinyls while I was working at my home office right across the hall. He played them all, but when he heard this from Sam Cooke he came to me in a rush to declare, you're the man, dad, and with a big hug. I was stunned.

Jason went to sleep in February and didn't wake up. The memories are all I have of him now.

  • @oriskany i am so sorry to hear that. i hope that he is enjoying Sam Cooke's concert in heaven. he sure was lucky to have a great dad that exposed him to wonderful music here on Earth.

  • @alithegreatest34 Thank You. Clearly you have an understanding of what is important to people. May you live a long and meaningful life.

Hola, oye me gustaria ver si en tu album de Sam Cooke esta la de One more time?

  • This guy was the best. My fourteen year old daughter might be into Akon, GaGa, Green Day, Pink,The Fray but she always mentions how she likes Sam Cookes music.

  • @goodwinmum yeah, i'm 16 and i love sam cooke as well as other great (nat king cole, ray charles, willie dixon). but sadly my mom never introduced to this music. so i found these artists 1 1/2 ago (mj's death), since that tragic moment i started to listen to old music(80's) then older and older an so on. here i am
