and apparently it's so rare, that there aren't any other pictures or videos of it anywhere else other than in this video. well done sir, you've done the world a favor by letting us know this guitar exists
I'm sure someone has said it, but I don't see it...but it was made by JTG. The 'headed' version was called Infinox, and I didn't realize they made a headless version. Very cool!
BabyEviscerator is spot on correct. I checked my registration card and it was produced by Hondo/International Music Corp as "The Sting", and only 50 of them were produced. I also confirmed this with Musicorp, the company that bought Hondo. It has Steinberger headless chrome hardware, and the volume/tone knobs in this video had been replaced - the original ones are matching chrome knobs. It is a supercool, well-built, and rare guitar for sure!
I also have this guitar, in mint shape with the original case, manual, and even registration card. I'm the original owner and it's been in storage since the '80's. If anyone is interested in it, email me at: droppenheim (at) yahoo (dot) com
Very very sweet guitar, only thing i dont like is the fact that its headless, i cant stand headless guitars, always feels like the most important part is missing (in my opinion...)
That's an 84, the 83 had the ugly pointy head. These didn't sell well originally and lost their headstocks, then added that Schaller tuner bridge to complete the run.
The reason you don't see many left is they did not survive. Bad tuners originally, lousy pickups and the case offered was of flimsy chipboard with crappy sewed edges - you carry it for very far by the handle and the weight of the guitar could twist and deform the case. The one to have is the headstock w/standard trem.
I used to own one back in the late 80's / early '90's. It was metallic red and I had no idea they were that rare. Man I feel like a dumbass for trading it off now. Pardon me while I go kill myself...
headless guitars look so dumb. the point of them was to make guitars more travel-friendly. great, its a quarter pound lighter, 4 inches shorter, and 100 times more retarded looking.
I rented the headless bass around 81, 82 the name Cort comes to mind, but it was rectangle ish and black plastic. Crappy tone. I think there is a clip of Geddy playing one.
There's no link it's at a my local music shop.......i'll try to get a picture of it when i go there again. Do you think i should get it? It's old a needs a little repair so ill see if i can make an offer!
@BabyEviscerator that is very interesting! I actually document and collect Hondo guitars personally and was not familiar with this. Thanks for the info!
It could be one of the BC rich special one off shapes that they do, because they often don't stick their brand name on the guitar if it's a special shape. But then again the tone and volume controls don't look like something BC rich would stick on their guitars.
Dean do odd shapes and stick Volume and tone controls that look just like that, but if it was dean they'd stick their name all over it.
id look into charvel jackson...they made alot of models that are one of a kind ....my buddy has a frankenstien bass thats simular to that and its a full custom from the 80s and looks like the same style and everything that jackson would of made
I have one, except that mine has a head stock and white trim, with a single EMG Pick-up. It's called a Hondo H1 and it was manufactured in Korea. I've never heard of the brand but I enjoy the guitar nonetheless :)
there made by martin i think really cool looking but there not as good as they look i got to try one before and i didnt enjoy it as much as even my own guitars..
OMG THATS THE HONDO I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR! Those were made in the 80's under the brand "Hondo." I hate headless guitars, i used to not buy guitars with cases, instead i have wall hangers for them. If the head isnt there they cant hang on them >.<
it's definitely a hondo H1, hondos were like a first act or squire in the 80's, they're beginner's guitars and cheaply built, looks like somebody took some decent guts and rebuilt it and repainted it, (probably) giving it a better sound and the ability to sustain longer etc, if you're an experienced player I bet you could tell the difference
that is a hondo H1. i was looking at getting one but i dont know how it playing i know it has shit for pickups for death metal so all i want to know is if the neck is good playing and smooth i'm hope it has some what of a loose feel on the string like a Mexican made fender plz tell me yes. and as for some one saying y the hell would u want that thing.
its a cool looking guitar hands down who cares what others think

I have this exact guitar! it was given to me from a good friend, i obtained it when i was 20 and have had it for 5 years. i changed the pickups in it tho, i bought seamore duncan screamin demon which is in the neck pick up but is a bridge pickup and then i have a seamore duncan detonater in the bridge but i still have the origial pickups, and also i have a hard case for it. how much do u think i could sell it for???

I have this exact guitar! it was given to me from a good friend, i obtained it when i was 20 and have had it for 5 years. i changed the pickups in it tho, i bought seamore duncan screamin demon which is in the neck pick up but is a bridge pickup and then i have a seamore duncan detonater in the bridge but i still have the origial pickups, and also i have a hard case for it. how much do u think i could sell it for???
