  • and apparently it's so rare, that there aren't any other pictures or videos of it anywhere else other than in this video. well done sir, you've done the world a favor by letting us know this guitar exists

  • I'm sure someone has said it, but I don't see it...but it was made by JTG. The 'headed' version was called Infinox, and I didn't realize they made a headless version. Very cool!

  • BabyEviscerator is spot on correct. I checked my registration card and it was produced by Hondo/International Music Corp as "The Sting", and only 50 of them were produced. I also confirmed this with Musicorp, the company that bought Hondo. It has Steinberger headless chrome hardware, and the volume/tone knobs in this video had been replaced - the original ones are matching chrome knobs. It is a supercool, well-built, and rare guitar for sure!

  • I also have this guitar, in mint shape with the original case, manual, and even registration card. I'm the original owner and it's been in storage since the '80's. If anyone is interested in it, email me at: droppenheim (at) yahoo (dot) com

  • Looks like a B.C Rich & Gibson Explorer mix . Beautiful baby

  • I have the bass Sting.It is a Hondu.

I used to have a sunburst 6 string, but my asshole x guitar player stole it.

They play and sound terrible. But I still love them.

  • what music is that playing?

  • Obscuras rythm guitar

  • I Like It, How Does It Sound?

  • thing could kill your eye

  • Ewh.

  • Awesome guitar, I think it's a Hondo. I really wanna get one now. How does it sound?

  • music in back ground Sucks ,,,Don't match the AXE <

  • thats a sexy piece uv ass right there

  • Looks like someone was hungry and eated the bottom xD

  • /watch?v=mesr2siegRg same body

  • Very very sweet guitar, only thing i dont like is the fact that its headless, i cant stand headless guitars, always feels like the most important part is missing (in my opinion...)

  • That's an 84, the 83 had the ugly pointy head. These didn't sell well originally and lost their headstocks, then added that Schaller tuner bridge to complete the run.

The reason you don't see many left is they did not survive. Bad tuners originally, lousy pickups and the case offered was of flimsy chipboard with crappy sewed edges - you carry it for very far by the handle and the weight of the guitar could twist and deform the case. The one to have is the headstock w/standard trem.

  • It looks like ESP makes it probable ain't really nice guitar

  • those travel guitars look stupid with no head stock

  • I used to own one back in the late 80's / early '90's. It was metallic red and I had no idea they were that rare. Man I feel like a dumbass for trading it off now. Pardon me while I go kill myself...

  • Ive seen one for sale on craigslist for 500. Looks exactly like that cosmetic wise

  • ThesguSting

  • that is going to be worth a bomb!!!

  • Now that's a Stylish Guitar.

  • headless guitars look so dumb. the point of them was to make guitars more travel-friendly. great, its a quarter pound lighter, 4 inches shorter, and 100 times more retarded looking.

  • @remurdereht that´s hell of a truth dude :D

  • ill buy it off you for 2 million

  • it s a steinburger

  • Same body as the Hondo H2 ("Death Dagger").

  • I rented the headless bass around 81, 82 the name Cort comes to mind, but it was rectangle ish and black plastic. Crappy tone. I think there is a clip of Geddy playing one.

  • There's no link it's at a my local music shop.......i'll try to get a picture of it when i go there again. Do you think i should get it? It's old a needs a little repair so ill see if i can make an offer!

  • i saw one of those today, but it only has 1 pickup and 1 volume knob....also it isnt headless. the body is exactly the same though

  • @eLeCtRoFrEaK0036 Where did you see that? Pleas link :)

  • Can I have it as a christmas present?

  • Bring it into a guitar shop and see wat they saw, and how does it sound

  • i have this one!

  • the body is the Steffen Kummerer(Obscura) Ran model

  • THAT is a 1980 Hondo Sting guitar, only 50 were ever made. You sir, are more lucky than a lepracaun at a strip club.

  • @BabyEviscerator hahahaaa ...lol xDDDDDDDDDDD

  • @BabyEviscerator that is very interesting! I actually document and collect Hondo guitars personally and was not familiar with this. Thanks for the info!

  • hondo H-1 MR

  • How could you solo past 14 fret looks awful too use.

  • It could be one of the BC rich special one off shapes that they do, because they often don't stick their brand name on the guitar if it's a special shape. But then again the tone and volume controls don't look like something BC rich would stick on their guitars.

Dean do odd shapes and stick Volume and tone controls that look just like that, but if it was dean they'd stick their name all over it.

  • i got one but it has a head with double emg x pick ups

  • id look into charvel jackson...they made alot of models that are one of a kind ....my buddy has a frankenstien bass thats simular to that and its a full custom from the 80s and looks like the same style and everything that jackson would of made

  • I have one, except that mine has a head stock and white trim, with a single EMG Pick-up. It's called a Hondo H1 and it was manufactured in Korea. I've never heard of the brand but I enjoy the guitar nonetheless :)

  • Looks like a Halo Custom guitars shape called Spawn or something

  • I have no clue, but thats one beastly looking guitar :)

  • there made by martin i think really cool looking but there not as good as they look i got to try one before and i didnt enjoy it as much as even my own guitars..

  • it's a hondo H-1MR

  • strangest guitar ever but would really good with a head and a lil few adjustments

  • custom?

  • OMG THATS THE HONDO I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR! Those were made in the 80's under the brand "Hondo." I hate headless guitars, i used to not buy guitars with cases, instead i have wall hangers for them. If the head isnt there they cant hang on them >.<

  • @RE4chainsaw thay make leather straps u can put were the headstock is supposed to be ive asked at my local guitar center

  • my guess is a stienberger

  • Is it a floyd rose guitar?

  • Looks like a B.C. Rich Iron Bird had sex with a Steinberger Spirit.

  • chinese guitar

  • It looks like a D-Spawn that were made by Halo Custom guitars.

Different scale length though, but I'm just throwing out possibilities

Just go to haloguitars . com and look at it, might be what you are looking for?

  • when i see the form and setup i would say its an bc rich before the compagny existed

the owner used to make guitars like that before bc rich

  • nice guitar, mabey ask the person yjou got it from, mabey they would know what it is, and headless guitars arent my fave

  • It was probobly hand made by someone with a great hobby.

  • thumbs down to all negative and uninformed comments

  • headless = worthless = priceless

  • that was made by Hondo... not very popular.. but you have one..

  • maybe the head feel off

  • 1980 HONDO THE STING GUITAR , NO HEAD STOCK , NOT MANY OF THESE AROUND ONLY 50 MADE

  • @cldump agree, my cuzin has one.

  • @cldump yes thanks!!

  • hadless cuse the tunes are in the lower part where the ASS of the guitar is

but im not sure of it cuse im not a guitar owner so i don't know but still it looks nice

  • hadless cuse the tunes are in the lower part where the ASS of the guitar is

  • i seen one at the dump the other day.

  • jajaj si vieran conocido a "El moco"..

  • I think it a Steimberger guitar

  • it's definitely a hondo H1, hondos were like a first act or squire in the 80's, they're beginner's guitars and cheaply built, looks like somebody took some decent guts and rebuilt it and repainted it, (probably) giving it a better sound and the ability to sustain longer etc, if you're an experienced player I bet you could tell the difference

  • that is a hondo H1. i was looking at getting one but i dont know how it playing i know it has shit for pickups for death metal so all i want to know is if the neck is good playing and smooth i'm hope it has some what of a loose feel on the string like a Mexican made fender plz tell me yes. and as for some one saying y the hell would u want that thing.

its a cool looking guitar hands down who cares what others think

  • It reminds me of a BC Rich Ironbird.

  • eww. just eww.

  • It's a Hondo Guitar from the 1980's

  • @jilawless

it's a hondo death dagger but then without a headstock and 2 pickups.

    really cool shape!

    hard to find

  • I have a guitar like yours except its in your house

  • Its A Custom Halo Guitar, check the halo guitars website

  • This is the first guitar I ever owned. It's a Hondo and I bought it in 1985 for $200. I wish I still had it.

  • its a star with sharpened edges.

  • Yep, Hondo. They used to have an ad every month in Guitar for the Practicing Musician for this guitar. I had an issue out from 1984 the other day, and there it was. Later in the mag there is blurb about a 19 year old Swedish kid in Alcatrazz . . .

  • the vocalist from Obscura has one with a similar body shape.

  • well...thats Hondo - The Sting guitar......tere is only 50 models-...search on google and you will find pictures :) hope that helps

  • Comment removed

  • where do you put it? it cant sit on a stand... or hang because it has no head. wtf throw that shit in the dumpster

  • The body reminds me --> Kramer Voyager

    Cool guitar ;)

  • gasp! oh nos! it gotted decapitated!!

  • play something on her man!

  • ok i think its a steinberger im not 100% sure

  • o dude its probably a scythes

  • o its probably made by that company that does all thos headless guitars....cant think of the name tho.....the make something called a synder or something....look up headless guitars

  • the body looks a lot like Steffen Kummerer's (Obscura) ran guitar...

  • Seriously, the name of the guitar doesnt fit the look. It doesn't even have a pointy headstock to sting with!!

  • looks like a Steinberger because of the way the tuners are on there but i never seen them use that shape- you may want to send them a pic of it and ask if they made it- thats how i was able to get the year and model for my dean- if they dont make it they might be able to direct you to who dide

  • i had this guitar and sold it for 50 bucks at a pawnshop

  • Its 1980's hondo H series

    (:

  • dude thats a mad guitar :) wish i had it tho D:

  • oh, i found the guitar i was talking about.... ranguitars(dot)com/artists/obscura

  • i do not know that specific guitar, but a similar body style axe is used by the rythym/vox of a band called Obscura. check out the music video 'Obscura - Anticosmic overload'

  • in a video from "outfield - your love" i saw a guitar like this

but i have no idea which brand that is :D

  • im gessing that you mad them if so reall nice i like them there cool

  • some of you guys are bang on...its a hondo....hondo done alot of copies,it has the hardware of a steinberger, but i think ibanez done this body shape under the division name of maxxas guitars

  • name of the songs?

  • Imo it was probably made by a machinist who played guitar, that bridge looks pretty unique to me.

  • it kinda looks like a steinberg

  • yeah that dudes right, it's a Hondo 1980 super guitar, that thing shud sound superior ! doesnt look like the delux version but if that things real then that will cost a furtune ! probably one of the rarest guitars out there, hold onto it and when ur in financial crisis sell it and all watch the money role in :)

  • home.comcast (dot) net/~treehouse2421/stingbass.jpg

    theres a sting bass.......

  • This is a 1980 Hondo guitar. The name of the guitar is called "The Sting" I've heard only 50 were made. So what you have is a collectible.

  • This is a 1980 Hondo guitar. The name of the guitar is called "The Sting" I've heard only 50 were made. So what you have is a collectible.

  • no head, could be a steinberger. i think they had a crazy design like that once. and the font that "the sting" is writen in is also the same font that steinberger uses and thats also their bridge system so im assuming its a steinberger. im about 90% sure

  • Horrible upper fret access..

I'm thinking maybe a guitar designed by BC Rich before they had their name?

  • Thats an old Hondo!!! awesome guitars!!!

  • @TheodorKK thumb up the comment so everyon can see it! :P

  • It sort of looks like somebody took an explorer and sanded the shit out of the back.

  • body looks kind of like an old bc rich ironbird... cool guitar.

  • Maybe it is a steinberger??? :P

  • It could be one of two, either the original which i can't remenber the name of right now, or a Hondo knockoff.

I have an add of the original in an old Guitar Player magazine.

There was an original with a kahler trem, a humbucker in bridge, and a single coil in neck and three way toggleswitch.

  • It's a Seville . No headstock part is custom . As is the hardware. Only know this because I picked one up just like it few years back . bought it on a dare . this is the only other that I have seen .

  • looks fine

  • very old kramer maybe?

  • There are only a few people on here who are mature enough to make educated guesses as to what it is, the majority of you guys come here just to put it down. I don't remember asking for your opinion on how it looks or how cheap it probably was. I was simply wondering if anyone knew the type of the guitar. Is it that hard to understand?

  • @brandonryanploughman looks sexy man does it sound any good

  • @brandonryanploughman hey, whats up....

the guitar looks REALLY similar to a custom bc.rich like if some one modded it (like ALOT)

i have a bc rich mockingbird that share a few attributes (search it up on Google images)

  • @brandonryanploughman relax dude, you have to keep in mind that when you upload a video you're open to critics so think about it once again instead of getting mad. Tolerance is the key ;)

  • @brandonryanploughman looks like a guitar kiss would use

  • @brandonryanploughman I'm not sure what guitar it is, but someone may have just built it using the B.C. Rich Ironbird as an influence. It looks similar in design. With no brand name or serial numbers it's next to impossible to figure out for sure though. Possible B.C. Rich prototype.

  • @brandonryanploughman you should be familiar with the fact that 99% of people who post a response are just trolling, the internet gives people anonymity and that means they can be complete assholes all the time without paying for it, you can bet nobody who trolls on youtube would talk like that in public, also, like the guitar, I do wonder how it sounds, looks kind of like mine, but with half the body chopped off (I play an ibanez dt 250 x series) post a vid playing around with it

  • @brandonryanploughman does it have a nice tone?

  • sort-of looks like a stineberger and the font on "the sting" also looks like steinberger font...

  • hahaha , "no branad name , no nothing " are you sure u dident make his guitar in your sleep ???????

  • Probrably chinese XD

  • this is cool

  • Comment removed

  • I know exactly what that is. It's a Hondo Sting from the 80s. Only 50 of them were every made (probably because they're so shitty)

  • could be a Steinberger ^^

  • THUMBS UP IF YOU HATE HEADLESS GUITARS.

  • @jsrkill thumbs up!

  • @jsrkill yea its unusual. occassinaly you see a headless guitar its why its annoying everyone

  • If you look up Johnny Winters in the mid 90´s he had a guitar just like that without the spikey ends, which I saw in Guitar Magazine!!!

    white and pretty cool!

  • @bernhardtsen74 dude thats a stein berger

  • its a hondo

  • i have seen it, might be a Hammer brand guitar. At least one inspired by their designs.

  • thts a bad ass guitar

  • i dunno how good this guitar is, but it's uglier than than a naked mole rat

  • it name is the HONDO H2 DEATH DAGGER, and i see this is a special edition with a sort of floyd system

  • ugly as hell, go buy a new one

  • I have this exact guitar! it was given to me from a good friend, i obtained it when i was 20 and have had it for 5 years. i changed the pickups in it tho, i bought seamore duncan screamin demon which is in the neck pick up but is a bridge pickup and then i have a seamore duncan detonater in the bridge but i still have the origial pickups, and also i have a hard case for it. how much do u think i could sell it for???

  • @kanepillers nothing much.

  • yes i have seen this guitar its right on this vid that shows me it

  • my husband has one its a hondo 795 the sting made in 1984 the bridge and head is made in germany a colaboration between hondo and stienberger rumored
