They're not exactly holding a grudge. What happened was (and I've heard this directly from Tom on the AVA Start the Machine video) blink had been on tour for 5 years straight and Tom wanted to spend more time with his family, but M&T thought he should put the band first. So they fought over this until it lead to the fall out of blink, Tom actually just quit. Then Tom realized he wanted to be a better musician and send a message to people and started AVA. They went their separate ways.
