Leesha, you should try the CurlyGirl Method. Sounds like you have some of it down but not other parts. Go to naturallycurly[dot]com and check out the guides, forums (really useful!) and Curlmart which stocks amazing products for Curlies and Wavies. I could get into the whole fixing the frizzy dry thing but it takes too long and they explain it better. Use, enjoy :-) Damnit I want my curls back, not loose waves. I only look good with spirally curls.

I have similar hair and there's only one product that I swear by to keep it shiny and under control even under high humidity, and that is A/G liquid varnish. You should try it, it only takes one drop!

I use the Bed-Head leave in conditioner and split end repairer and just let it air dry after I curl and lift with my fingers. My hair is going through this phase where no matter what I do, it likes to be wavy if I don't scrunch it. I've also dyed my hair a bunch, and I find that Bed Head works really well for me, and it's not too unaffordable.

The serum is the star product but hes got shampoos and treatment(the silk leavein conditioner and Remane Straightlotion are amaazing) that follow the same concept. Curly hair is not like straight hair!!So we need prouducts that are quite different. Seriously, try it itll change ur life!!
I have curly hair too! It goes Afro without frequent conditioning... and forget ever just letting it dry natural lol.
I honestly just use conditioner as hair product for styling. It doesn't get crunchy, it smells good, is good for you hair, etc.
Favorite Brands are Dove and Herbal Essences. Drug store beauty products are perfectly fine, but I do agree that awesome brushes, well, make everything awesome!

omg the best product for curly hair is CurlKeeper which you can get at curlkeeper. I have very frizzy northafrican curly hair and I could not find a product that could tame the frizz in order to let the curls just be. Curlkeeper is waterbased,silicone free serum that you saturate your hair with after washing ,you let the serum work for half an hour w/o touching ur hair,then shake it out and you have soft,relaxed curls!Its amazing!its like thick water so not sticky at all!Check it out!

Devacurl makes a cleansing conditioner for curly hair. It's called no poo because it has no shampoo in it :) It's great for keeping curly hair moisturized and soft! They have it at Ulta.
the living proof didn't work as well as carol's daughter did for my sister and me. my hair is exactly like yours but more of it :s my sister has wavy/curly hair, n this works wonderfully (all of their curling or moisturizing products)
DevaCurl makes the best line of curl stuff I've ever used. It gives me goddess curls. and they have a line for colored hair too called Deva color and it's great. It's so incredible. There is a section of the curl line thats for chemically damaged hair too, which I want to try. I highhlllyy suggest it!

My hair is naturally curly too. I've been dying it blonde since I was 17 so it tends to get dry like yours.
You need to make a trip to an Asian/Indian and buy some hair oil (either Amla or Vatika). That stuff is magical. Leave it on overnight and wash out the next morning. My hair is always silky and shiny afterward.
I'd say get Straight works from the Super Skinny line by Paul Mitchell. Super skinny serum is more for straightening and stuff but Straight works is just...so awesome. So much better than the serum.

@Twilightfann16 i have really long naturally curly hair, that i have been dying for years. all you have to do is use the right products to keep your hair healthy. i find that because my hair is long, it helps weigh down the curl a bit, so now i have loose curls as opposed to tight ones when my hair was shorter. @Twilightfann16 Usually if you have curly long hair... the length'll drag the curl down so it doesnt look as puffy... like mine at the moment is short and curly.. so it has a lot volume... but as it gets longer.. it doesnt look as bad.. but thats my experience! :)
Also, it depends what product you're using... I usually stay away from mouse.. as it adds volume...

I have a question about your hair.. Do you part it differently to achieve sidebangs when you want them and keep straight bangs? I have the same type hair as you, big, firzzy, course hair its just the way it naturally is. Very thick, and without some type of product its a big poofy mess. You said that you wet your hair and then add conditioner and rinse out. Do you use the conditioner all the way to the scalp (like shampoo) or stop halfway? I have similar crazy frizzy curly hair (mine's really long and not as thick as yours though) and I'm curious as to how the shower curly haircare process works.

Relaxer! or thermal straightening. But a sodium thiode relaxer smoothes everything out into nice waves and takes the kinks out. I just got one for the first time and my hair was about the same curliness as yours but not coarse, I love it!

These are the basics (Leesha, you could benefit from this advice):
1. Splurge on a really great haircut with someone who knows curly hair.
2. Get yourself a really good SULFATE FREE shampoo and condition
3. Comb your hair with a wide tooth comb while it's wet, NEVER brush it.
4. Try to air dry. If you must dry it, use a diffuser
In order for curly hair to look great you have to maintain it. Don't fry it, don't straighten it, don't over process it. Keep it healthy and moisturize it.
@Nerdaliciousful sorry but I think if you actually watched the video Leesha says she washes her hair once a week with a SULFATE FREE shampoo. She never said anything about brushing it, she said she air dries it and also said that her hair is naturally very thick, frizzy and dry. I think the fact that you said she could benefit from it is quite rude and unnecessary.

Too much of "I don't" just do what you know and what the video was for. On that note, it could've been better if you actually had your hair wet and went through all the step. Combo straight hair and curly does not go.

My hair has always been really damaged looking, and then of course i dye it as well so that doesn't help. but i have found that using infusium 23's frizzologie and then a few sprays of garnier fructis style curl shaping spray gel. makes my hair smooth soft and curly. I'm not a big fan of mouse because half the time even if i just use a little it still gets all crunchy..
i have this problem where the hair right in the front under my ears that hits my shoulders..... stays straight!!!! the rest of my hair is really cooperative and curls normally... but i always have to put a curler in that one section!
have you ever tried to color it with henna? it 'wraps around' ever piece of hair so that it makes your hair thicker and heavier so that it looks a lot more healthier. and it shines a lot more and longer than the chemical products

My hair is just like yours. And I completely understand what you mean. Some days my hair looks fine, frizz isn't too bad. And then other days and it is like intense frizz. Curly hair needs lots of products :/

i have the same hair type like to the t and i have days where i love it and days i hate it and the days im straighten it, it doesnt matter how many times i go over it with the flatiron its never that silky flat bone straight look i want and its annoying

I wish my hair was naturally curly hair :/ but I love yours, this is how I always wanted mine. I used to get hair like this when I'd had synthetic dreads braided into my hair lol. I miss it.

@Twilightfann16 i have really long naturally curly hair, that i have been dying for years. all you have to do is use the right products to keep your hair healthy. i find that because my hair is long, it helps weigh down the curl a bit, so now i have loose curls as opposed to tight ones when my hair was shorter. @Twilightfann16 Usually if you have curly long hair... the length'll drag the curl down so it doesnt look as puffy... like mine at the moment is short and curly.. so it has a lot volume... but as it gets longer.. it doesnt look as bad.. but thats my experience! :)
Also, it depends what product you're using... I usually stay away from mouse.. as it adds volume...

@MsTwilighter015 thank you so much. my hair is just slightly past shoulder length right now cuz i needed to cut off the dead ends a couple weeks ago and i thought id let my hair go natural color for a while and see if it looks good curly long. all i use is moroccon oil if im leaving it curly and a heat protection if im straightening it. but ill keep the mousse thing in mind. thank you again! :)

I have a question about your hair.. Do you part it differently to achieve sidebangs when you want them and keep straight bangs? I want a versitile bang style and I don't know if it's really possible the way I'm thinking. I want straight bangs but I don't want to fully comit to that single style... I have the same type hair as you, big, firzzy, course hair its just the way it naturally is. Very thick, and without some type of product its a big poofy mess. My hair is curly but will only hold the curl with lot of hair spray and i hate that wet crunch look. Thanks for this vid i cant wait to try some of these products.

You said that you wet your hair and then add conditioner and rinse out. Do you use the conditioner all the way to the scalp (like shampoo) or stop halfway? I have similar crazy frizzy curly hair (mine's really long and not as thick as yours though) and I'm curious as to how the shower curly haircare process works.

Relaxer! or thermal straightening. But a sodium thiode relaxer smoothes everything out into nice waves and takes the kinks out. I just got one for the first time and my hair was about the same curliness as yours but not coarse, I love it!

i dye mi hair too and i hate when the colour starts to dissapear and it's usually the second time i wash my hair :S so i just washed my hair once a week, :S i know nastyyyy jajajaja but if not my hair get's white really quickly!!!!! and i don't have much money to dye it once a week again or so...

These are the basics (Leesha, you could benefit from this advice):
1. Splurge on a really great haircut with someone who knows curly hair.
2. Get yourself a really good SULFATE FREE shampoo and condition
3. Comb your hair with a wide tooth comb while it's wet, NEVER brush it.
4. Try to air dry. If you must dry it, use a diffuser
In order for curly hair to look great you have to maintain it. Don't fry it, don't straighten it, don't over process it. Keep it healthy and moisturize it.

@Nerdaliciousful sorry but I think if you actually watched the video Leesha says she washes her hair once a week with a SULFATE FREE shampoo. She never said anything about brushing it, she said she air dries it and also said that her hair is naturally very thick, frizzy and dry. I think the fact that you said she could benefit from it is quite rude and unnecessary.

My hair has always been really damaged looking, and then of course i dye it as well so that doesn't help. but i have found that using infusium 23's frizzologie and then a few sprays of garnier fructis style curl shaping spray gel. makes my hair smooth soft and curly. I'm not a big fan of mouse because half the time even if i just use a little it still gets all crunchy..

have you ever tried to color it with henna? it 'wraps around' ever piece of hair so that it makes your hair thicker and heavier so that it looks a lot more healthier. and it shines a lot more and longer than the chemical products
