  • The music is the highest art expression of man. This song makes me feel what they were feeling at the moment of writing every note and lyric of the song. That's what makes this so fantastic. The music makes us one like humans.

--hope this make sense... maybe my english is not so good. Greetings from Mexico-- :)

  • what 99 people cant aprechate this masterpeice

  • UN should make this their Anthem for two reasons. One is because of the feeling you get listening to it that somehow makes you feel and look into others lifes, without the need to think of your-selfish self that was brought upon us of mainstream music. second because of the feeling that makes people cry when remembering how simple we really are. love and respect all the way from Bahrain. one day we shall unite because of the good that such people like sigur ros bring to the world.

  • @19silentscreams World peace = yes

    Destroying nations = no

  • @19silentscreams what makes you think the UN stands for the untity of mankind and the abolition of selfishness?? the UN is a facist bully club of people who think to much of themselves. this kind of music is there to remind us we can only build the kindom of hevan in our hearts.

  • this peace of video is honestly the key to my weakness, Nothing gets me more than this, it goes right into me and pulls out a crying kid, mercilesly, but i think im not alone in that, i think my family back in iceland, and ppl everywhere, have this human side of us, where we get so attached to our suroundings, our enviroment, our playground witch we know so well, gets ..obliterated, and we loose our idendity inside. we need our suroundings, saying bye to that, is saying bye to us.

  • one of the best things I've found in my journey on earth

  • I love this song. Awesome

  • This video makes me cry like a child. Still. Some four years after I first saw it. I think that's how you know something is truly powerful.

  • its music thats is depressing but uplifting all at once, its makes me think of life ,my family say im losing it,but they dont hear what i hear,or feel what i feel, sounds a bit strange, but sometimes its hard to say what i feel,

depressing i know but its amazing how sigur ros's music can affect your emotions

    simply amazing

  • Why does it make me cry?

  • Comment removed

  • because its something beautiful?

  • This song is so haunting. Always makes me feel strange inside, in a good way. I think.

  • Quick question- I feel like I've heard this in a movie, could someone tell me which?

  • I'm pretty sure it was in "Vanilla Sky"

  • Well, it's used in a danish movie called "Efter Bryllluppet", so maybe that's where you heard it from...

  • vanilla sky :)

  • I'm certain this was not in vanilla sky-Thats untitled 4 (the nothing song)

  • @VideoSketchbook212 i think vanila sky used another song from sigur ros, "Svefn-G-Englar" wich means Sleep-G-Angels

  • k chingon!

  • Very haunting..

This strong, aesthetical masterpiece definitely helps convey a message of nuclear awareness from Sigur Ros, while also reminding us of the "innocence of innocents," or that people can be molded in good or bad ways, like these children who may have been born after nuclear annihilation and never known life outside without a mask, but yet they accept these conditions with happiness regardless

  • I always feel something inside when i hear this song

  • definitely chilling..

  • What a beutiful song, and music video.

  • The lyrics, are they English?? Or what language is that? Is there anywhere a translation??

  • it is Vonlenska (Hopelandic) a fantasy language from Sigur Rós

  • i love this language!

    why haven't they made Hopelandic-English dictionaries? :)

  • Because there are no translations. xD

It's all about going along with the music.

  • it's hopelandic, not english. only some phrases sound a bit english. it's up to you how you interpret lyrics on ( )

  • @BebopCola29 It's a made up language.

  • jonsi's wail at the end is pure beauty

  • this is probably my all time fav sigur ros song

  • i heard this on "Paraiso Travel" a Colombian movie...check it out is great

  • Haunting...

  • At first i thought it was to "dark" (negativ), but hearing it many times... it just gives me some kind of energy and hope...

strange? maybe, im danish, and have been visiting iceland, so i feel whar u feel sigur ros.... best to all of u

  • What makes this music video so special is that it is not showing what is happening in the future, but what is happening in the past. It is evoking and targeting our nostalgia and our memories.

  • I love sigur ròs and their video...unici!

  • Sigur Ros, what heart, what soul.

  • imagine to listen to this song while you're watching the midnight sun at the top of a norwegian fjord, smoking a cigarette and tasting a quality beer.. i think it should be one of the most beautiful things in your life

  • Easily my favourite Sigur Ros song and video.

  • banish the haters!

  • Lovely!

  • I'm no bleeding heart (by a long shot), but this is the most certainly the best, and most impressionable music video I have ever seen.

  • Great music...

  • This clip is just so incredibly beautiful, really, the sense behind it is so great...I think they won a mtvaward for this and beated other "stars" like lil wayne and shit like that...SIgur Ros is so amazing..I adore them..!

btw..I thought this might interes some of you..Some days ago I found a band on youtube called "Nyctalgia".

Listen to their song "Falling into nothingness".

Breathtaking, melancholic postrock song...trust me...it's totally worth...

  • terrific band! you may also like this little known but very original instrumental band. they have violin, guitar and drums. search for "Radium Karmara"

  • Masterpiece.

  • Wow. That was beautiful.

  • finally a song that matters

glad that they got an award for this song

    love you sigur ros

  • Eat my Pretentious ass!

  • I would die faithfully in the soulful embrace of this song.I wouldgladly give my life so that others could enjoy the straight up humour of the sillly little incident

    Enjoy all!

Man I love being Canadian,We are truely the best ever.

  • Does that look like "just a song" to you? This is our FUTURE you're watching, the future of humanity, and that's your little sister. That's your daughter.

  • Songs give inspiration to those who can make a difference in the world.

  • @laithsu - It has an impact on people, to say the least.

  • Jeez, it must suck to be you and have such a negative and cynical understanding towards the effect of music! The intention is to inspire, but many musicians also use the money they make for helping good causes. What, exactly, are you yourself doing for "the future of humanity" then? It must be something way better than JUST making a song...

  • Don't turn this on me, that's a weak argument, we're not comparing things here. Inspiration comes from real footage not from a song. What, do tell, is the significance of this song to the deformed Vietnamese boy because of exposure to Agent Orange? What about the deformed Iraqi boy in Fallouja from exposure to depleted uranium from those who claimed to bring freedom, peace, democracy and all that crap? What about the many others? What relevance is a song to any one of their lives?

  • Why is that a weak argument? In my opinion, people spend way too much time arguing who's got the worst trouble in the world and what little is being done about it, than actually doing something about it themselves. Anyway, it DOES have a relevance in the matter that it visualizes a worst-case-scenario with the effects of nuclear weapons. It raises awareness round the issue. And I would say that's much more effective than this argument.

  • I have to disagree. You may not end a war with a song, but there are a lot of songs written that saved lives. Alot of people find support and comfort in music. Without music the world would be a dark and scary place.

  • to breathe some life into this and for the sake of being positive, you really should research the song/history of Hurricane by Bob Dylan

  • Sorry, but I disagree with your comment. Aristotle and Plato actually had a great deal to say about the aesthetics of music and how influential to the soul it can be. They even believed that music was so powerful that the state would have to stay on top of music, less its mass production manipulate the emotions of the public.

In addition, songs can inspire people to do great things, can access the will of the soul, and give people support in areas that other people or things cant.

  • Spoke my mind. Yes it's a lovely song but I'm sick fed up of the "This song gives me meaning to live" etc etc gawd stfu and gtfo over dramatic plebs. Tin hat at the ready

  • This video moves me to tears every time. Its so haunting and horrifying. the ending is especially heart wrenching-this video says no words-yet conveys it differently. That girls expression in the end,the blood red sky to the imagery of children playing in soot, set along to the music is just-horrifying yet beautiful-I don't know...this video is just incomparable to anything-this comment doesn't even do the video justice.

  • I drive around and blast this in the snow or pouring rain. To truly appreciate them, it just takes a fondness for subtlety

  • i see it as the world destroyed due to the lack of sensitivity for the environment. That the inspection of the children might represent humanities selfishness and concern for only our own kind. The result is that in the future our children will play in a polluted wasteland. a very sad thought. at the end she dies because if these insensitivities. *shrug* just my interpretation.

  • i think its about nuclear war.

  • the most weirdest and funnist ( in a certain sense ) discription is, i suppose, where children is playing as if it snows there even tho its not real snow.

  • love it

  • Typical Krieger childhood.

  • 4:54

  • this song reminds me as a child in Puerto Rico in the middle of the Caribbean bathed in the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean

  • @victorlopez242 WoW that must have been amazing =)

  • to me, it looks like the girl gets pushed down in the end, everyone swarms around her and rips her mask off (5:30), the teacher runs to her aid and she smiles because she experienced the world without the mask on

but to tell you the truth the whole things kinda confusing

  • This video reminds me of Wake Up by Arcade Fire

  • HERMOSO! from mexico u.u

  • If i had to describe in 1 word how this song makes me feel. it would be.. Inspired

  • how i fell :P

  • You sat along the fire, you saw the light

    you saw, you suffered love

You saw the light, you saw

    You sigh low

    your eyes saw

  • you sigh low tonight you're so alone you're so you sigh low tonight you're so alone you're so you're so low you're so alone you're so you sigh low you sigh low you're so (you're so)
  • this song is absolutly amazing:X

  • ;_;

  • Is it worth it to see the sky with your own eyes just one time before it kills you?

Damn, I'm crying. I'm not even sure why.

  • i thought she just wanted to be carefree and a child instead of bound by the mask. that's a beautiful thought, though.

  • I like your version too. Art has many layers of meaning, and the beauty of good art is that it will appeal to whatever is closest to your heart and will hit you hardest, even if that is different things for different people.

I just watched it once more, and I cannot help but cry! I love Sigur Ros. (:

  • sigur ros makes me cry.. i dont know why..

  • stupenda!!

  • Your interpretation is amazing.

  • sigismondi *.*

  • Asombroso!!.. definitivamente uno de los mejores videos que jamas he visto!!.. creatividad para ayudar a reflexionar!!..

  • esta cancion esta curada como se llama

  • la vaka

  • I don't want that for the future generations, great video!! I love Sigur Ros!

  • this song makes me cry..for fucks sake

  • just stop identifying so much wih the music you hear and take it as the art it is.

we could stop all the arguing over "mainstream" and "underground" and all of that.

  • i was told they wrote this song as to protest a damn being built near their town.

  • It's just a basic hymn progression you might learn at music school but Sigur Ros add their own style to it and transform it into something even more beautiful. Great band. Great musos.

  • This video kind of reminds me of Lord of the Flies, like no adults (except for the beginning of course) and then they just destroy stuff...that's just to me tho

  • this is a mindblowing and breathtaking song.. Totally beautiful..The clip is just perfect and really makes me some kind of thinking about different things..Can't explain..WHat I can say is that Sigur Ros are definitely the band of the century! no other band can touch my heart so strong like them..Incredible stuff..!

I'm always looking for new music..I found a Band called "Nyctalgia" some days ago..Listen to their song "Falling into nothingess" on youtube..AMazing band as well..!

  • Well, that's a pretty stupid response, why can't you just enjoy different types of music without being called "anti-mainstream"? In fact, your response is one of the most idiotic i've ever seen!
