@TheGamerPalace if they face forward and are sealed off from the trunck good then a yes you will have a slightly higher spl number. but it will not sound nearly as loud(deep) the whole reason people face the subs backward in a trunck is to give the sound waves time to bounce around before they hit your ear. take the advice for what its worth, im not trying to be an ass.

If you want deeper bass just tune the box lower, it all depend how low or high is your car tuned too. If you want louder, face your system towards the front. If you want better sounding, face your system towards the rear. Lower bass notes have longer wavelengths and need more distance to travel for audibility. It's the same principle as putting a home theater subwoofer behind the couch and putting it right in front of you.

@BIGGIEDEVIL o i agree 100% it IS louder when your subs face towards the trunk. its because your pushing the sound waves against the trunk door then back toward the interior of the vehicle. the more the sound waves bounces the louder it gets. BUT if your subs are facing forward and you set your phase to reverse, instead of punching forward the subs pound in reverse, so toward the trunk. otherwise pounding the bass directly toward the interior will NOT sound as good.
