  • How the hell does a computer generate something like this!?! This seems impossible to have a whole world as each dot.

  • wonder if it will go of the free to play/ cash shop system, or P2P

  • If this is multiplayer it would be the most epic MMO of all time... I would spend all my money on it to 0.o

  • I remember toasters in the Windows 3.x version.

  • Reminds me of Space Engine

  • LOL think this game is bad check out space engine

  • Insane :o can't even imagine how people will navigate in this mess

  • How is your computer running it? Isn't it supposed to... You know... Explode?

  • Dude this is HUGE!!! the game is massive this game prob wont b out for another 10 years for how big it is

  • @Perzsnake beta testing starts in 2 months

  • @ollobrains1 Link?

  • then I realise when this game is released my laptop will explode

  • A few times we were travelling several billion times faster than light. Sweet!

  • So, wait, will there be basically no player interaction, since no one will be able to find each other?

  • Lets play hide and seek!! :D

Wow I would live on this game phenominal can't wait for release!

  • OMFG.......

  • @Mandrak789 actually it's OBAFGKM

  • now, what im gonna do is visit ONE STAR AT A TIME, see just how far i'll get before i die of old age. my guess is that id explore 0.000001% of the galaxy by then!

  • @Ryagful you do reallise it's 1.2billion kilometres to saturn alone, when it's closest to earth, right?

  • and you do realize this game has FTL right????

  • ok, Now add particle physics. and gravity.

  • its probubly going to have onley 1 server where everyone playes

  • i know that this game will pwned a lot of computer

  • WOW

will another player ever meet each other in this kind of size of the galaxy

  • @SuperYouUber There will be various gameplay mechanics that will force players to congregate in the central systems, plus players will start in those central systems.

  • i will pay 1000 bucks for this game, only to get lost into space, i give a dam if that space has no ppl , i just wanna go in the deeper space, i m loving this game

  • The main starting are will be the 4 cores, of the NPC nations, where people would start out and meet other people, there will be cities there and big NPC populations. As the player base becomes bigger people can move out from the cores to colonize or do as they wish exploration etc, and there is Gas Giants.

  • @LordYuHuang 4? There are only three nations (The Deltan Federation, The Star Fold Confederacy, and the Centaurus), where did you get the idea that there would be four nations?

  • @Terran123rd Oh thanks I musta hit the wrong button lol.

  • @LordYuHuang No problem.

  • The ultimate space sim MMO. This will undoubtably CRUSH EVE Online.

  • one thing this game lacks is giant earth like cities and seems like there is no jupiter like or saturn like gas giants. othere than that this games looks awesome and could easily surpass eve online cant wait for it to come uut i want to voyage through space. SPACE THE FINAL FRONTIER!

  • holy shit...bigger than spore ! xD well...i think this will be the best game ever ..when you can be an empire too...i heard that you can ...it will be awesome when you can blow up planets or make holes in it..may with special weapons like big ships have...it will be soooo awesome....my gawd

  • People are being drawn to this for the scale and the effort that the developers are putting into this game.

People who gripe about physics and dimensions and Lagrange points should try THEIR OWN hand at making a game like this. Bitching doesn't get you anywhere, and no one ain their right mind plays a freaking VIDEO GAME for realism.

  • ...I just nerded all over the place.

  • the stars are...squares??? :D

  • ...space and time and music...without music it is nothing...

  • What kind of computer is this being designed for.. computers of the future? :(

  • Astonishing.

  • I will DEFINETLY play this game til the end of it's existence.

  • flying squares.... it needs some work

  • @Tricanis go watch other videos of infinity. Each of these square is a star with a solar system. You can go to each planet and it has awesome grafics. You can see rocks, lakes, trees. Everything real sized. But yes it still needs work, that's why its still in development. this is only a demo

  • @Tricanis Those are just place holders. For demonstration.

  • If every person on earth were to play this game they could have their own 1000 planet empire.

  • How do procedurally-generated worlds retain distinguishing characteristics (i.e. - could you revisit something you encountered months or years prior)?

The level of detail most games exhibit today (that are made by big companies, too) is usually boring at best; VERY boring ("Elder Scrolls" and such being minor exceptions)... That said, how on Earth will procedural generation populate over a million planets and create what's needed to be a fun game to play?

    This is worrisome...

  • wow .... this game will NEVER be released.

  • did anyone else find urself moving ur head trying to dodge incoming stars? haha

  • I wanna see the black hole ^_^

  • There is my house ^_^

  • so this is what people see when in clinic death...

  • Not to detract from this game in development, but if you guys are interested in something similar; at least within the stars/galaxy part, though only partially mapped out, check out Celestia the astronomy program. It lets you fly around the Sol System and millions of stars within our Galaxy and also has other galaxies in their locations (though they are just placeholders).

  • @Armageist Celestia is cool, but check out Space Engine for procedurally generated universe with complete star systems and planetary terrain to explore

  • People are going to be playing this game their entire lives; they will start out as teenagers and rise up and become warlords and coalitions, and eventually grow old and die, without ever meeting people on the other side of the galaxy, doing the exact same thing; whole civilizations and empires will rise and fall without them even knowing......and it will be good....oh so good.

  • @Armageist ..Must hook brain up.. to computer...and run infinity.. forever.

  • Minecraft space

  • @BearyX Please don't take your minecraft shit into a game like this.

  • on the oficial site it says: You will not be able to visit them (worlds) all in your whole lifetime, even if you were to spend only one second per world!

  • I clicked on this video because of the picture and watched it thinking, "ok, this is a model of the entire universe, cool", paused to check out the title to be sure, clicked out and saw the word galaxy (ONE GALAXY) and my mind explodjsf ,mnsdsdjbjv s,dmnnbfshdbhf,s. sdkjflsghdjbvskjdhbvdsmv.djskdbjsdf dsjhvusldsjk

  • @xenochrist15 Nah dude, they don't mean that the video shows 1 galaxy and there are many others, but it's only going to be ONE galaxy in the whole game. :/ Still, there are billions of systems. Spend your life checking each one out for a second each, and you won't even have covered 10%.

  • No compromise!

  • @spcmn77 No doubt there will be those who say culture is something that defines 'humanity', but looking back on the sacking of peoples and cities which caused the spread of various civilizations, one must wonder if culture will fade away like the people who came before our civil society, and with it all of our customs and morality.

  • @williegotpwned

    This too, shall pass.

  • Think, you will be able to visit EVERY one of them! Every star in the sky you can go to (jaw pops out of the ocean floor somewhere in the pacific)

  • It's so... Beautiful!

  • 1:15 AH, LAG IS BLINDING

  • Play the game eveonline its just amazing !

  • This is a Day 1 purchase.

  • My eyes just had sex.

  • @ResiusOnline Mine didn't! Are my eyes gay?

  • I want to LIVE there.

  • @peon47 you ALREADY DO ???

  • @peon47 but you already do...

  • @Naibasaki i wish i could see it with my own eyes :(

  • Makes you kinda think about how big the galaxy is.

    Motherofgod.jpg

  • Now who said Minecraft was big ?

  • Now all the game needs is 999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999^the human population in order for a player to have 0,0000000000000001% chance to actually meet someone in this game. Or is it max 16 player per server? :P

  • @NLwino Well of course they'll put everyone on one server.... Wait what?? Oh sorry, they'll put 30 people... xD.. But hopfuly when it comes, we'll be able to meet alot of online people..

  • @NLwino Wat about the ships radio com??

And the admin planets?? BTW, If this game ever comes out, its gonna get more players than WoW...and the rest are NPC

  • @waddlerobloxxxx Just because the game will be better then WoW doesn't mean the game will be more popular then WoW. WoW was already a huge hype the moment they started creating the game. This isn't. And I quess you will be able to chat with other players and you have places where everyone comes together. But most of the space will be a lonely place. This seems to have soooo much potential I really hope it will turn into a fun game to play. And I will have to buy a new pc I think...

  • @NLwino you failed math didnt you?

  • @MohRtep You failed in social life didn't you?

  • @NLwino I did'nt know i was being marked on it(I'll make sure to check that out and tell you my average when I find it)

  • @NLwino Players will most likely assemble at a "home" system where most of the trading is done, like Jita in EVE.

  • @NLwino This has to be one server with 10.000.000 of players to exsample To my mind not impossible to host. You just need really good server....

  • And there's god to you folks...

  • DO WANT

  • space...... the final frontier

  • What *is* this music? It's killer.

  • I'll give my my first born for this game!

I'm thinking i might not see many other players though :P

  • @BionicMonkeys First, it's not out... Second, it's to be said it's free... Visit their website..

  • @1DeathEater Ok... Never said it was out, didn't mention any price, it's called a figure of speech. Google it...

  • Actualy, Procedural generation is random, however it will always result on the same thing no matter how many times you do it

  • I just came...

  • 1:15 .....

  • Beautiful music.

  • @mryellow123 yea it assumes that DUST514 will be a hit, I personally know alot of people whom do not have a xbox and won't buy one just for it. They should have just made it a PC game too and offered a special deal to existing eve players. BUt as usual CCP rather lie and boost about technological advancement and sweep everything else under the carpet.

CCP are a bunch of lying asshats, always have been and always will be. The majority of gamers are too dumb to see pass the lies.

  • noctis much?

  • reminds me of my old microsoft screen saver

  • all these stars belong to one galaxy, and there are supposed to be bilions (infanite) galaxies in the universe.. in the matter of fact there may be bilions of universies and it goes on..

  • 1. Do you have sliders to control the density of stars in particular regions such as the arms, or the vertical extremes?

    2. How many stars are in this galaxy?

  • I'm sorry, I didn't watch the video. I was too busy counting out the years I'll spend on this game.

  • @NotJustYouNoob It would take hundreds of full lifetimes to explore all the planets ingame, even if you spent 1 second per planet.

  • @Mogon11 It would also mean that it would take lifetimes of several developers also to complete this project.

  • Comment removed

  • @Y3DXGL90 Actually, the devs dont have to touch a single planet, its all procedurally generated, the client creates all the planets, not the devs, the devs just tell the system how to create it.

  • Funny to think some people believe EveOnline has "future".

  • @mryellow123 personally I have played eveonline for over 6years and I think it has no future. CCP has done a very bad job of rolling out major expansion which actually provide new content. The general problem with eve is there is nothing to compare to it right now so people will continue playing it till something else which is better like INIFINITY comes along.

  • @oghmaeve yeah sad that a game which captured the market completely throws it all away with bad middle-management. The new content being a video about "Eve has a future" just says it all.

  • @BBoyHanter "some"

  • this video crashed flash player lol

  • holy fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

  • Do this with more than 1 galaxy, enable LAN or P2P multiplayer and you have me hooked

  • @TheBigRedTom But then at least 20/21 stars would not be visited if you had 2 Galaxies. Considering 47.5% of the stars in one Galaxy with a MMO population count of over 500,000 will not be visited. The sad truth is it is an awful waste of space, because as you fly about, you are passing thousands upon thousands of stars, each one generated at one point or another depending on their size and when someone else flew through that region. Each star will have some data stored. Too big 0_0.

  • In truth, many would love to live in a time where we could go out into space & explore the universe. If we cannot do this in reality, well sim's like this r the next best thing to get the mind juices flowing.

With all the flight sims out there, I'd happily pay $50 for a quality space-sim like this & I'm sure their r ten's of thousands out there who would do likewise.

We r about 20 yrs late 4 an Elite 4, whomever makes something like this will make a killing 100%. These guys r right on track.

  • And there goes a manly tear :, )

  • This reminds me of that windows screen saver, but less amusing. btw, your 'stars' look like periods on a keyboard.

  • @bobfrapples21 You must not have read/understood the description of what this video is, otherwise you'd be as impressed as everyone else. Here, I'll help: "This is a visual representation of what's happening on the server side, so there's no fancy rendering or effects (those will be added to the client later on).". This is just to demonstrate the size of the gameworld. Check out some of the other videos of this game/engine; you'll get a better idea of what the final product will look like.

  • TAKE MY MONEY!

  • @ZProle It's free lol. XD

  • @ZProle

    Hello!

    It's not your money!

    Your money is star stuff!

  • wait... so beyond our universe, there are just nothingness...

guess God still made the script for another universe

  • This game is going to suck so badly...

Why make a game where we aren't even going be exploring even a fraction of it?

I'm sorry, but just because something looks good, doesn't mean it will be good.

  • @chriscos123 Check the website, read the news, check the forum.

     Then, we'll talk.

  • @chriscos123 lol you fail

  • A supreme genius in the making! How many kilometers in a single LY? Scientist say roughly 9.5PM.

  • we´ll need to call aliens & every single thing alive to join this game.. ´cause the people on earth won´t be enough to play on this galaxy i guess xD

  • is there a cluster of blackholes in the center of this galaxy too?

  • at first all I saw where a bunch of particle effects moving by on my screen T_T but then the camera zoomed out and my mind was blown O_O

  • I'm guessing this is how our universe got started. with the click of an alien mouse - anyone?

  • Let's see the CryEngine 3 do that?

Crytek Dev:Alright, back to the drawing board..

  • annnd the odds of that ship Not running into a star... a billion to one =D, cant wait for this game.

  • I just saw the holy grail of all sci-fi games.

  • TIME TO UPGRADE AGAIN ...

  • MY GOD, IT'S FULL OF STARS ...

  • @vlweb3d And each one of those stars is full of planets, and each one of those planets may have a full ring system, and each planet will have its own unique surface ;)

  • i knew it, the universe is full of squares

  • Unicron & Galactus would be pleased:]

This galaxy is a SMORGASBORD! Heheh

  • >turn this video on

well this is just random pixels fl-

    >turn on hd

    MOTHER OF GOD

  • reminds me of my screen saver :P

  • Way too many star systems for a game. Hopefully most of them are planetless and worthless as far as actual gameplay goes. If you spread out EVE's population among this galaxy you could go years without bumping into anybody.

Obviously there will need to be major 'home' systems and trade routes etc. Very interesting to see this and I can't wait to see the finished product and rule-set.

  • So anyone the federation?

  • this is just that screener saver from windows 3.1 . nothing impressive

  • @lolholocaust TROLLTASTROPHE

  • I'm worried that half of these solar systems are going to be exactly the same.

    It still looks awesome,though.

  • @grimtendo The thing about planets and planet tectonics and flora and fauna is that it can all be procedural as well. Completely randomized using a few materials and a whole lot of coding.

  • Why square dots?

  • @mdoerkse

Because this isn't ingame footage - this is literally just the server code running the placement routines and sticking dots in to show where the stars would actually be.

Scary to imagine how this would look in the actual game engine. :)

  • So... Where's Betelgeuse?

  • It's..........BEAUTIFUL.

  • If they can pull this off while keeping people in contact with each other and making the game not be a 100gig download, I will be incredibly impressed. It's looking fantastic.

  • @TheJayLeHol

procedural generation means that you download a small program, and it fills in the world for you, meaning your computer makes a large part of the game, meaning a small download most of the time :P

  • @TheJayLeHol

That's easier than you'd think - the game only needs mapping data for a few core systems (key locations such as Earth, for instance). The rest can be generated from a few algorithms, a density map, and a 'seed' number - all of which combined would only add up to a few megabytes. The technique was pioneered in a much older game called 'Elite'.

What'll take the space is the sound, textures, and ship models, but there's no reason to expect it would be larger than a DVD or two.

  • @ChMoMe

That actually makes fair sense, cheers for that.

  • @TheJayLeHol I'd buy and play this even if it was 100 gigs. I've been waiting for something like this ever since i was a small boy.

  • Player : Hey there is a bug in this planet

    GM : Which one?

Player: Here can you see it?

    GM: Where?

    Player: That planet of there

    GM: t_t, planetID?

    Player: 281.208.685.244.981 i guess >.<

This game is huge and awesome!!

  • @namekman01 It has a set of pre defined parameters, a seed, that gets run through the generation engine when you go somewhere, whatever you can see of the galaxy is created for you and removed when it’s out of range. Because the seed is fixed for everyone, everyone gets the same universe so that only changes to it by players or devs after it's initial creation need be stored on database.

At least, that’s what I understand of it. May have some of the detail confused.

  • holly jizz

i think this game will need more memory than second life

  • @namekman01 actually it's procedurally generated, which means the vast majority of it won't be stored in memory.

  • @hibyewut so what? it generates new things, stores the previously generated in the mem? not really clear

    however:

    MY DREAM IS COMING CLOSE

IM W8in for a MMORTS where u can play with other players, but its continuous

    one can hope

  • I've been amped for this game for so long.....I only just realized it's an MMO.

It's been fun while it lasted.

  • @cheeksjd DON'T PANIC! The dev team has stated that there’s a real possibility of them making a single player version for the sort of people who are not so fond of MMOs :)

  • @Naibasaki

    Dude....Fuck yes that's great news.

  • @cheeksjd what's the point of playing against a computer? this one is so realistic, is there any point if it wont feel like you're a citizen in the star trek universe? this is truly epic, and it'll change the genre of mmog's forever... dont judge it based on the crap we've got access to today.

  • @hcvang While waiting for the MMO version myself, But as a former X series player, I totally understand Cheeksjd’s point of view on this. Beating a human at something when you're more experienced and with better tech may well be slightly more satisfying, but beating an entire galaxy of NPCs, building a vast empire and space armada and then wiping them all out with it totally beats that in terms of coolness value, plus I’m guessing they’ll like the lack of subscription fees with that option also.

  • @hcvang Also, StarTrek?????? please tell me you didn't just say that.......

  • @Naibasaki I dont see the point of communicating with someone who finds it impossible to accept and respect other peoples likes, dislikes and preferences and feels the need to belittle them instead.

  • @hcvang Firstly, you total hypocrite, going on about how playing against a computer is pointless to someone who clearly sees the merits of it, and then lecturing ME in not attacking preferences =)

Secondly, my star trek comment was more because you almost seemed to want to hijack the entire back-story of the game and turn it towards something that it isn't going to be, not an attack on your personal opinion, just your mildly selfish assumptions, It wasn’t entirely serious at that.

  • its my old screen saver

  • "Every single dot will be a visitable system in game!"

    This sentence killed me.

  • cool screensaver, bro

  • Do you realize how fast your going?? even in a galaxy, being able to navigate like this would be, uhh messed up?

  • as more and more dust like particles came it has the resemblance of a windows 98 screen saver.......
