@thinkingnut I neither give nor ask for it, friend. Everyone is racist and some are more than others, but there's a global hierarchy of racism which black people are at the very bottom. If black people attain global dominance, they will in turn be racist to others below them--take S. Africans' view of Sudanese or the Chinese Singaporean view of Indonesians or the Aussie view of Lebanese or the Swedish view of Pakistani...it's all relative, and time and space dependent, friend.

You might want to consider to a) correct or b) disable the autocaption bot that is mangling the closed-captions, for at 22 seconds into a Part 1of5 with Martin Jaques the host says: "...the gift of strippers and apply different solicitation.." but of course he didn't say that.

For true and accurate captions, you gotta get a human to do it. I do that work, and you can reach me for any of that.

As a Chinese, I think Jacques' comments are very good, well reasoned and sensible arguments. He is looking at the whole issue of development from a very historical perspective that extends much longer than most writers. Despite China advancing dramatically and dynamism, the cultural aspect of this ancient great nation is often underemphasised.

It is hard to know whether this is truly the "Chinese Century" or not, since it is obviously too early to tell. However, what everyone can agree on is the fact that China will be the obvious choice in challenging the US for the position of the leading world power.
