seems good but... can you email receipt? swipe a credit card? use with cash drawer? send to kitchen iPad? how deep does its ability go? just a plain 'ol menu?
This is a great innovation in the restaurant industry. Having images and descriptions are great for both the restaurant patrons and owners; decrease confusion and increase efficiency.

Lame lol. Places like Domino's pizza has had online ordering for about a decade now. Fedex has been using exponentially more complicated order services technology for over two decades.
Ya expensive initial costs but think of it this way .. to update and print menu's costs a lot of money these days and for some upscale restaurants they go to town on the menu design not to mention this would allow for updates and sold outs on the spot and easily. If they made it available you could download it to your own iPad and know what your getting before you go to the restaurant.
I think its an interesting idea :) interesting use of the tech... well done.
Wow, it s sooooo hard ordering dinner with a human being. This is a freakin BREAKTHROUGH!!! Ordering based on the weather! That is so ADVANCED!!!!!!!!!!!
using the iPad as a waiter's tool for registering orders makes WAY more sense than this. add in the Square payment system and i think you won the day.
@pleaseinsertacoin using an iPad as a waiters tool would be non-sensical 'cause his arm would fall of by the end of the shift ... also there'd be the problem of where to put it when he's carriing a tray ... there are ligther, smaller, more reliable tools than the iPad for this atm.
Great idea! I thought of this use when the iPad was announced. I then did a little patent search and found that IBM holds a pretty comprehensive patent covering the use of wireless restaurant ordering in the USA. Bummed me out. Note that this video is from Australia.
Buying the iPads outright is probably a money loser for the restaurant. If there's a lease + service deal, that could pay in the long run... n'est pas?

It's a great idea which is already been done by our company - Conceptic Ltd.
After years of experience in the digital restaurant menu field (with our eMenu product) we've launched the iPad menu for restaurant.
It's a beautiful product which will increase your restaurant sales.

This is a painfully unnecessary "innovation". And bye-bye to waiting staff jobs.

While this looks like a great tool for waiters, if I wanted to order from a computer, I'd stay home and have it delivered.

Do the profits cover the cost of the menus?
doublealufwaffe 1 year ago
@doublealufwaffe: if you average per servant at $7/hour, a month cost to hire one employee would be est$1204($7/hr *40hrs*4.3weeks). Hence, yes!!!
