Actually, it is just the labels holding on to old technologies, they could easily have found a way to earn the same amount of money by selling single song or album files of a webpage and make the songs in a format only one reader could play and charge people that way. A lot of people download music because they're just after a few songs.
but there is ways of reworking it and changing the format of the file, limewire could just decide its gonna plant a trojan in every single persons computer and edit the format like that.

Firstly, that one individual wanted to buy the album after listening to the songs you have on your channel. I have bought CD's of artists I have listened to on youtube simply because I liked the songs i heard of which people posted.

Whilst I do agree with this sentiment, I should also point out that hearing "Leviathan" and a few other newer songs actually turned me OFF Alestorm; if I'd have bought those songs, that might have been the last Alestorm I purchased.
However, because I've found songs I LIKE on Youtube, I am now back to wanting to buy their stuff.
It works both ways; as long as people BUY WHAT THEY LIKE then it's okay. The problem is people who steal what they want, not buy it.

In regards to piracy:
If someone could not afford it, pirating their album would not make them lose money, as said person would not get the album either way.
And if you really like the band, once you can afford it you can buy a copy.
