tThis video is very motivating to me. 95% of the guys in my gym dont even deadlift or squat all I see them do is bench and do bicep variations. The most I ever deadlifted is 400x2 (no hitching) Im 21, 5ft 9in and 170-173lbs with a skinny-muscular build. Im trying to compete in a deadlift contest at my gym this spring and trying to jack my deadlift up going the natural way. Please please if you can lend me some tips whether its adding any special foods to my diet to doing some secret prayers. Thx
vsallbutme, you have not a clue these guys are tough and strong powerlifters so give them respect or go get on a machine in your spandex and shut the fuck up!
agreed. im the only guy who goes on the squat rack any heavier then 2 plates a side (you rarely even see that), and the only one who ever does deadlifts
lol mee too!! Bunch of wanabees trying too get a little baby muscle to look good in a bar. I'm the only one does deadlifts too. They even think they are big walking around with their arms wide and their chest filled with air. i feel the stares when i pull heavy...i dream of finding a REAL gym.
@sktterd thats just a speed warmup to activate fast twitch muscles. but you never know... you might be right there with them one day. also im not sure if those are 45 lb plates or 100 lb plates. they are in europe where they dont have the same types of plates as us.
WTF, Andy dosen't even lift, the title of this video is misleading. Don't get me wrong that was some very impressing lifting by everyone, just a little disappointed.
Admittedly I am nothing compared to a lot of you guys, just didn't understand it..
Is this maybe strengthening the weakness of their curled back so when they do go heavy and keep a straight back they are less likely to injur themselves?
I think the question was answered previously , these are world class lifters not novices learning in a fitness center where health & safety has to apply , no one would say compeditive sport is safe, its not by definition you are pushing the limits higher than anyone has gone before and the rule book goes out the window.
your back is supposed to be straight when deadlifting to prevent injury not bent! and also why the fuck are they jerking the bar up like that?? im a personal trainer lol this is hilarious!
Somewhat exageratted isnt it? with over 500 members and not counting casual users and the fact i am a certificatted personal trainer, strength coach, federation staff coach and 32 other qualifications ?
we do lock our backs out, we dont hyper extend the back. and like my man Hirepgym said. . . they are world champions, so i guess there doing something right. sat dow with us is andy bolton, world record holder in the deadlift.
HAHAHA you ignorant fool. These guys don't train to be fit and healthy. They train to lift as much weight as possible and frankly they are damn good at it.
My comment has got nothing to do with training to be fit and healthy... but training safely! No doubt these boys can lift some serious poundage but I do question the technique they choose to use which IMO can cause serious injury. That is all.

quit moaning about his fucking form, the fact he is able to lift that weight means he hasn't injured his back.

I wish i went to that gym. In my commercial gym, i'm the only guy who does deadlifts. The others are to busy on the bench press and preacher curls.

I always thought my dead lift was weak. But seeing that I'm dead lifting as much as these guys and I'm half their size I don't feel so bad anymore.
sktterd 3 years ago
Hahaha, whoops. Didn't realize you included the warm-up with the vid. I take that back.
sktterd 3 years ago
Well i see at least 5 world champions there how come your not amongst them ?
Hirepgym 3 years ago 2
Did you even read my second reply? I didn't realize that was the warm-up at the beginning.
sktterd 3 years ago
I did Deadlifts this morning. Six sets of 8 reps 180kg. I weigh between 75kg and 80kg.
I couldn't really be sure what these guys were lifting. It looked a bit more, but they were all much bigger men than me.
I never train 1-3 rep range as I tore a hamstring and it has mentally scarred me. I always thought that it was better to train in the 6-8 rep range.
Total respect to anyone who does this exercise. Dread the minute or so before you do the exercise, but gives you a great high after

why do they pay little attention to form?
